  • In this paper, we consider the acquisition performance of an IS-95 reverse link access channel slot as a function of system design parameters such as postdetection integration length and the number of access channel message block repetitons. The uncertainty region of the reverse link spreading codes compared to that of forward link is very small, since the uncertainty region of the reverse link is determined by a cell radius. Thus, the parallel acquisiton technique in the reverse link is more efficient than a serial acquisition technique in terms of implementation and of acquisition time. The parallel acquisition is achieved by a bank of N parallel I/Q noncoherent correlator are analyzed for band-limited noise and the Rayleigh fast fading channel. The detection probability is derived for multiple correct code-phase offsets and multipath fading. The probability of no message error is derived when rake combining, access channel message block combining, and Viterbi decoding are applied. Numerical results provide the acquisition performance for system design parameters such as postdetection integration length and number of access channel message block repetitions in case of a random access on a mobile station.

  • In this paper, micro trench structure is fabricated by femtosecond laser for inserting optical reflecting wavelength filter in planar waveguide. The width and depth of the trench is controlled by femtosecond laser machining condition. Also, large scale of single channel with 500um and 1000um on silica plate is fabricated by femtosecond laser, and roughness of the channel surface is polished by $CO_2$ laser for the insertion of the filter. Then, the characteristic of the planar waveguide inserted the filter is verified.

  • Calculation of error probabilities for a coherent phase-shilft keyed communication system operating in a transionospheric scintillation channel is accomplished by means of the Gauss-quadrature integration formula. The channel model used, patterned after Rino's work, is slowly flat fading wherein the envelope of the received signal is modeled as the envelope of correlated Gaussian quadrature random processes. The error probability for the scintillation channel is calculated using actual ionospheric scintillation data for transmission in the UHF region(30-300MHz).

  • A 40 channel arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) filter operating in C-band and L-band wavelength regions has been fabricated using PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) processes with 0.75 refractive index difference. Its design was optimized for matching the center wavelength with the ITU-recommended wavelength. The characteristics of the fabricated C-band AWG are as follows; average insertion loss < 2.5 dB, polarization-dependent loss < 0.3 dB, non-adjacent crosstalk >35dB, and the loss uniformity of 0.8 dB. In the L-band AWG, wavelength accuracy is below 0.02nm.

  • In these days of severe changes in the environment and economic slump, it is indispensable for firms to cope with the environment effectively. This study is an attempt to investigate the mechanisms through which output sector munificence and dynamism affect distribution channel performances, such as, satisfaction, trust, and commitment. Especially, this study focus on moderating effects on distribution channel integration that has not been investigated in the past. For the purpose of empirical testing, 70 corporate channels, 120 contractual channels, and 100 conventional marketing channels have been selected and analyzed. According to the result from moderated regression analysis, munificence strengthens distribution channel performances, while dynamism weakens them. And integration reinforces the effects.

  • In this study, we report a transmitter system for free-space quantum key distribution (QKD) using the BB84 protocol, which does not require an internal alignment process, by using a wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) filter and polarization-encoding module. With a custom-made WDM filter, the signals required for QKD can be integrated by simply connecting fibers, thus avoiding the laborious internal alignment required for free-space QKD systems using conventional bulk-optic setups. The WDM filter is designed to multiplex the single-mode signals from 785-nm quantum and 1550-nm synchronization channels for spatial-mode matching while maintaining the polarization relations. The measured insertion loss and isolation are 1.8 dB and 32.6 dB for 785 nm and 0.7 dB and 28.3 dB for 1550 nm, respectively. We also evaluate the QKD performance of the proposed system. The sifted key rate and quantum bit error rate are 1.6 Mbps and 0.62%, respectively, at an operating speed of 100 MHz, rendering our system comparable to conventional systems using bulk-optic devices for channel integration.

  • Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is under development to provide a monitoring of oceancolor around the Korean Peninsula from geostationary platforms. It is planned to be loaded on Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) of Korea. In this paper radiometric calibration concept of the GOCI is introduced. The GOCI radiometric response is modeled as a nonlinear system in order to reflect a nonlinear characteristic of detector. In this paper estimation approaches for radiometric parameters of GOCI model are discussed. For the GOCI, the offset signal depends on each spectral channel because dark current offset signal is a function of integration time which is different from channel to channel. The offset parameter can be estimated by using offset signal measurements for two integration time setting is described.

  • As a versatile processing method for nanoscale memory integration, laser-induced epitaxial growth is proposed for the fabrication of vertical Si channel (VSC) transistor. The fabricated VSC transistor with 80 nm gate length and 130 nm pillar diameter exhibited field effect mobility of $300cm^2/Vs$, which guarantees "device quality". In addition, we have shown that this VSC transistor provides memory operations with a memory window of 700 mV, and moreover, the memory window further increases by employing charge trap dielectrics in our VSC transistor. Our proposed processing method and device structure would provide a promising route for the further scaling of state-of-the-art memory technology.

  • This study tries to explain the relationships among omni-channel service characteristics, utilitarian/hedonic shopping value, and reuse intention. We derive instant connectivity, localization, consistency, integration, privacy risk as omni-channel service characteristics from previous studies and collect data from 190 omni-channel service users. The major findings are as follows. First, localization, consistency, and privacy risk have a significant effect on utilitarian shopping value but no significant effect on hedonic shopping value. Second, instant connectivity and integration have a positive effect on both utilitarian and hedonic value. Third, utilitarian and hedonic shopping value have a positive effect on reuse intention. This study extends the scope of omni-channel consumer behaviors by focusing on multi-dimensionality of shopping value. The results of this research can provide useful implications for practitioners to build successful strategies on omni-channel service.

  • The UWB signal distortion in frequency selective channel has made it difficult to implement the channel estimator and the synchronizer of the UWB receiver. In this paper, we examine the performances of TR(Transmitted Reference) and DTR(Differential TR) UWB which use either reference pulse or differential method to estimate the channels. we also propose a FSK-based PRM(Pulse Repetition Modulation) UWB system as an another form of UWB system which is advantageous in frequency selective channel. Finally, resorting to statistical analysis, we examine the noise effect due to noisy reference at an auto-correlation(AcR) receiver. moreover, SNR dependance of the integration length in the AcR receiver is also investigated.
