A time-shared multiplier designed for the ASIC implementation of multi-channel audio equalizer (다 채널 오디오 이퀄라이저의 ASIC구현을 위한 시분할 공유 곱셈기 구조에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a filter bank designed for the multi-channel audio equalizer. A time-shared multiplier is also proposed to implement the equalizer with a minimum number of gates when it is synthesized with ASIC or FPGA. Further reduction of the number of required gates is achieved by designing the multiplier based on a cascaded sequential circuit utilizing partial multiplications. The equalizer is realized with FPGA and its real-time operation verifies the reliability and high fidelity of the designed system.

  • This paper proposes the structures and algorithms for the adaptive equalizer that are required to allow high speed signaling over 40 Gb/s across a backplane channel. The proposed adaptive DFE has a fast convergence and low computational complexity. Simulations with a 40 Gb/s show that our adaptive equalizer can meet the IEEE 802.3ba requirement for backplane strip line up to 40 inches.

  • In this paper, the characteristic of the equalizer using Lattice filter was investigated in channel ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference) in OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) system. The equalizer using lattice filter has more fast convergence and little equalization error characteristic in two number of tap by orthogonal effect of each tap than another equalizers. The filter coefficient convergency and static BER (bit error ratio) characteristic was analysed by computer simulation. In this paper, it is shown that the equalizer using lattice filter has the better performance than a equalizer which makes use of another equalization method.

  • In this paper, a complex fuzzy adaptive decision feedback equalizer(CFADFE) based on the LMS algorithm is proposed. The propoed equalizer is based on the complex fuzzy adaptive equalizer. The CFADFE isconstructed from a set of changeable complex fuzzy IF-THEN rules, where the 'IF' part of the rule is characterized by the state from a set of changealble complex fuzzy IF-THEN rules, where the 'IF' part of the rule is characterized by the state of the desision feedback. the role of decision feedback is to reduce the computational complexity. Computer simulation shosw that the CFADFE notonly reduces the computational complexity but also improves the performance compared with the conventional complex fuzzy adaptive equalizers. We also show that the adaptation speed is greatly improved by incorporating some linguistic information about the channel into the equalzer. It is applied to M-ary QAM digital communication system with linear and nonlinear complex channel characteristics.

  • In this paper, we propose a serially concatenated turbo bode/turbo equalizer scheme for optical storage systems. Without modulation coding, a random data sequence is directly passed through the optical channel. In simulation, the channel includes jitter of 15% and AWGN. The densities of the channel are S=4.6 and S=7.0. The code rates of turbo code are 4/5, 8/9 and 16/17. All code rates, the bit error probability is less than 10-5 at 24dB when we and jitter of 15%.

  • Turbo equalizers which use MAP (maximum a posteriori probability) equalizer or MMSE (minimum mean square error) equalizer have shown high performance and adoptability [1], [2]. In this paper, we show that the BP (belief propagation) algorithm can also be applied in equalizer and when it is connected with channel code, it can replace the MAP equalizer with similar complexity and performance.

  • In this paper, A useful nonlinear function for the RBF(Radial Basis Function) equalization is proposed. This proposed function need not calculate an exponential function that is generally used for conventional RBF equalizer and uses the only four rules of arithmetic. Therefore the computational requirement for the RBF equalizer with the proposed function is decreased. As a computer simulation result, the equalizer with the proposed function effectively reduce nonlinear intersymbol interference, caused by nonlinear communication channel.

  • In this paper, we propose a FD USE (frequency domain minimum mean square error) equalizer algorithm for MBOK DS-UWB (M-ary bi-orthogonal keying direct sequence UWB) systems considered as a PHY proposal for high-speed wireless communication in IEEE 802.15.TG3a. The conventional FD MMSE equalization scheme has a structural limit due to insertion of the cyclic prefix (CP) in all transmit packets, but the proposed scheme is able to equalize the channel effect without CP. In order to overcome channel estimation error by multipath delay, we introduce a moving FFT and a moving average scheme. Compared with conventional FD MMSE equalizer and the traditional TD (time domain) MMSE-RAKE receiver, the proposed FD MMSE equalizer has better BER performance and we demonstrate this result by computer simulation.

  • This paper proposes a robust detection scheme for quasi-orthogonal space-time block code over time-selective fading channels. The proposed detector performs interference cancellation and decision feedback equalization to remove the inter-antenna interference and inter-symbol interference when the channel varies from symbol to symbol. Cholesky factorization is used on the channel Gram matrix after performing interference cancellation to obtain feed forward equalizer and feedback equalizer. It is shown by simulations that the proposed detection scheme outperforms the conventional detection schemes and the exiting detection schemes to time-selectivity.

  • Multi-carrier data transmission system performance is mostly limited by Inter- symbol-interference that is caused by a dispersive characteristic of the transmission channel. In order to enhance the system performance to meet the service requirements of local access, the channel impulse response shortening method incorporated with a channel frequency response compensation method is proposed. For a fast and efficient implementation of the equalizer proposed, Kalman and LMS algorithms are successively used. To verify the channel equalization performance, a set of computer simulation is performed on a filter bank based multitone system operating in a typical high-speed local area data transmission environment. The results showed us a comparable signal-to-interference improvement over the conventional multitone equalization scheme.
