  • The rotation accuracy of the main spindle that determines the accuracy of CNC machine tools is closely related to the quality of production because it directly affects the shape error and surface roughness of the workpiece. Therefore, the main spindle requires high rotation accuracy, rigidity, and rotation technology. This rotation accuracy is greatly affected by the bearing, center alignment between rotating parts, assembly tolerance, and unbalance of the rotation mass. In this study, the effects of the unbalance of the rotation mass of the main spindle on the rotation accuracy were investigated experimentally. In particular, we tried to study the technical reasons for improving the unbalance of the main spindle and maintaining the rotation accuracy as we verified the correlation between the vibration characteristics of CNC machine tools due to the specifically set unbalance amount and the surface roughness of the workpiece.

  • We report the structural, morphological and magnetic properties of the $Ni_{70}Mn_{30}$ alloy prepared by Planetary Ball Mill method. Keeping the milling time constant for 30 h, the effect of different ball milling speeds on the synthesis and magnetic properties of the samples was thoroughly investigated. A remarkable variation in the morphology and average particle size was observed with the increase in milling speed. For the samples ball milled at 200 and 300 rpm, the average particle size and hence magnetization were decreased due to the increased lattice strain, distortion and surface effects which became prominent due to the increase in the thickness of the outer magnetically dead layer. For the samples ball milled at 400, 500 and 600 rpm however, the average particle size and hence magnetization were increased. This increased magnetization was attributed to the reduced surface area to volume ratio that ultimately led to the enhanced ferromagnetic interactions. The maximum saturation magnetization (75 emu/g at 1 T applied field) observed for the sample ball milled at 600 rpm and the low value of coercivity makes this material useful as soft magnetic material.

  • Bismuth layered structure ferroelectric thin films, $Bi_4$$Ti_3$$O_{12}$ / (BTO) and Nb-doped BTO (BTN) were prepared on the Pt(111)/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100) substrates by a sol-gel route. We investigated the Nb-doping effect on the grain orientation and ferroelectric properties. $Nb^{5+}$ ion substitution for $Ti^{4+}$ ion in perovskite layers of BTO decreased the degree of c-axis orientation and increased the remanent polarization (2Pr). The fatigue resistance of Nb-doped BTO thin film was shown to be superior to that of BTO, and the leakage current of Nb-doped BTO thin film was decreased about 1 order of magnitude compared with BTO. The improvement of ferroelectric properties with $Nb^{5+}$ doping in BTO could be attributed to the changes in space charge densities and grain orientation in the thin film.

  • To enhance the machinability of the austenite stainless alloys, Mn and S were added to form MnS in the austenite matrix. Recently, Ca is also added to increase machinability. The alloying elements, such as C, Mn, S, Ca, and Al, are known to affect machinability, but those roles are not well understood. In this study, the ingots, controlled of alloying elements, C, Mn, S, Ca, Al, were prepared in the 304 stainless steel. The relationship between microstructure and machinability was compared to understand the role of alloying elements. It was proved that Mn and S enhanced machinability but C reduced it by analyzing cutting force on machining in the lathe. The alloying elements, Ca and Al, made a complex oxide compound of Mn-S-Ca-Al-Si-O, which results in increasing tool life. The ferrite volume fraction was changed with alloying elements and the effect of the ferrite fraction on machining was also discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to obtain basic data for nutrition education of the children in a health promoting elementry school. The data was collected by a questionaire of food habits, and anthropometric measurement and biochemical test in comparison with obesity index. The study subjects were boys and girls aged 10 to 12 years who participated in the “99 Children Nutrition Camp”. The average obesity index was 1.7$\pm$21.6% in boys and -11.4$\pm$12.6% in girls. After school, major leisure items were significnatly different by gender but both boys and girls played mainly computer game. In concern for body image and eating habits, girls had more concern and girls had attempted weight control more than boys. 80.2% of subjects had prejudice for special food, especially, all subjects in the severely underweight group had prejudice. But this tendency was significantly decreased with the increasing obesity index. The lowest preferency was for vegetables(64.4%). The tendency of prejudice of subjects was higher whose mother are thirties than those of subjects whose mother are in fourties. The serum GOT and GPT values were significantly higher in overweight and obese group than the other groups. The only serum T-chol was significantly higher in boys than in girls. The number of risk factors related to coronary heart disease(CHD) based on coresponding criteria of TG, T-chol, HDL-chol, and LDL-chol was not increased significantly with the degree of obesity index. The results indicated the need of nutritional management for the children. At a point of view, to educate children early who are able to change food habits and life-styles means to help heathy growth and to deliver up heathy adults. Active nutrition education for both children and mothers will be recommended with joint participation of nutritionists in community public health center and elementary school.

  • To understand the defect chemistry of multiferroic $BiFeO_3-based$ systems, we synthesized nonstoichiometric $Bi_{1+x}FeO_{3{\pm}{\delta}}$ ceramics by conventional solid-state reaction method and studied their structural, dielectric and high-temperature charge transport properties. Incorporation of an excess amount of $Bi_2O_3$ lowered the Bi deficiency in $BiFeO_3$. Polarization versus electric field (P-E) hysteresis loop and dielectric properties were found to be improved by the $Bi_2O_3$ addition. To better understand the defect effects on the multiferroic properties, the high temperature equilibrium electrical conductivity was measured under various oxygen partial pressures ($pO_2{^{\prime}}s$). The charge transport behavior was also examined through thermopower measurement. It was found that the oxygen vacancies contribute to high ionic conduction, showing $pO_2$ independency, and the electronic carrier is electron (n-type) in air and Ar gas atmospheres.

  • In this paper, magnetic property and magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in perovskite manganites of the type $La_{(0.75-X)}Ce_XCa_{0.25}MnO_3$ (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5) synthesized by using the standard solid state reaction method have been reported. From the magnetic measurements as a function of temperature and applied magnetic field, we have observed that the Curie temperature ($T_C$) of the prepared samples strongly dependent on Ce content and was found to be 255, 213 and 150 K for x = 0.0, 0.2 and 0.3, respectively. A large magnetocaloric effect in vicinity of $T_C$ has been observed with a maximum magnetic entropy change (${\mid}{\Delta}S_M{\mid}_{max}$) of 3.31 and 6.40 J/kgK at 1.5 and 4 T, respectively, for $La_{0.55}Ce_{0.2}Ca_{0.25}MnO_3$. In addition, relative cooling power (RCP) of the sample under the magnetic field variation of 1.5 T reaches 59 J/kg. These results suggest that $La_{0.55}Ce_{0.2}Ca_{0.25}MnO_3$ compound could be a suitable candidate as working substance in magnetic refrigeration at 213 K.

  • Recently, utility network is becoming more and more complicated and huge due to IT(Information Technology) and OA(Office Automation) devices. In addition to, demands of power conversion devices which have non-linear switching devices are getting more and more increased. Voltage sag from sudden increasing loads is also one of the major problems inside of the utility network. In order to compensate the voltage sag problem, power compensation devices systems could be a good solution method. In case of voltage sag, it needs an energy source to overcome the energy caused by voltage sag. Superconducting Magnet Energy Storage (SMES) is a very good promising source due to the high response time of charge and discharge. This paper presents a real-time simulation algorithm for the SMES by using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). With this algorithm users can easily do the simulation of utility power network applied by SMES system with the SMES coil modeled in RTDS.

  • Increase of combat capability through the lightweighting of vehicles has been internationally issued. One of the methods for lightening is applying high hardness armor(HHA) steel which is outstanding ballistic performance and protection performance compared to weight. Development of HHA steel is currently completed in America, United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. It is used for not only combat vehicle, but also various combat device. Korea is developing new material of HHA steel according to this trend. When such HHA steel is applied to structure, welding process is used for connection of the structure. Cracks from hydrogen embrittlement and cold cracking are easily generated in welds of HHA steel and it greatly affects the strength of all structure. Decrease of strength from welding defect is critical to combat capability. Therefore, welding process optimization is important for performing the role of structure. In this study, international welding technology is reviewed through scientific research paper and patent.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to confirm the mediating effect of job involvement in the relationship between grit and turnover intention among nurses working at university hospitals. Methods: Participants included 437 nurses from university hospitals located in C city, Gyeongnam. Data were collected from January 8 to 19, 2018, using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the t-test, analysis of variance, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression, with the SPSS/22.0 program. A mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny, and bootstrapping methods. Results: There were significant relationships between grit and job involvement (r=.40, p<.001), grit and turnover intention (r=-.29, p<.001), and turnover intention and job involvement (r=-.52, p<.001). Job involvement showed partial mediating effects in the relationship between grit and turnover intention. Conclusion: Grit increased job involvement and lowered turnover intention. Therefore, to reduce nurses' turnover intention, it is necessary to develop a program and strategies to increase their grit.
