  • The driving force of the manufacturing field is members' mind-set and activity. However, there is no appropriate program of change management for workers who work in the manufacturing field. Most of the small group activities were focused on the fixed tools and processes to make improvement only, not the change itself. Therefore, it was difficult to have self generating energy without actually motivating people of change. Study of IFI(Integrated Field Innovation) means change of management. This study will introduces IFI which is a new methodology of change and innovation of workers, and will describe how workers participated in the activities voluntarily. The principle of IFI is that letting employees to find the problems of the sites -anything that makes employees considering as the problem while they are working- and solve those problems through any tools own their own. Workers do not have to waste their time on bounding by unnecessary tools and processes. There are several cases that company "D" has been actually applied the IFI methodology in 2008. Through these cases, IFI proved that it was a optimized methodology for workers who work in the manufacturing field.

  • Reviews indicated that supervisory feedback provided to workers is the most effective intervention to change performance in organizational settings. However, supervisors themselves hardly receive feedback on their own behaviors. This study implemented self-management technique to improve supervisory behaviors at a construction site. Self-management in the current study consisted of goal setting, self-monitoring and providing reinforcers for two supervisory behaviors; (1) conducting safety observations and (2) interacting with workers for safety improvement. Two supervisors severed as participants. An AB within-group design was adopted. After baseline (A), self-management technique was implemented (B). Results suggested that self-management was effective in increasing the two supervisory behaviors. Moreover, the increased supervisory behaviors were associated with improvement in workers' safety performance.

  • With the growth of information and communication technologies adoption in construction projects, it could be anticipated that more property owners and construction firms will attempt to use electronic gears and gadgets for site monitoring or surveillance purposes. As the construction workers may be the major group of project team members being monitored, from managerial perspectives and for ethical reasons, it is essential to investigate their degree of acceptance on site monitoring systems. Indeed studies on office workplace monitoring suggest that a monitoring system could shape or control the behaviors of employees. With adequate refinements, their research models could be applicable in the construction industry. This paper presents a model for analyzing the antecedences that affect workers' acceptance level on electronic monitoring, and investigating if there is any behavioral change.

Method: Data were collected from 456 workers with Korean Occupational Stress Questionnaire Short Form(KOSQ SF) and analysed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA. Results: Total job stress status of men was slightly lower than Korean workers' standard. In case of women, the score of total job stress was lower than Korean workers' standard. The most significant influencing factors to stressors were insufficient sleeping time and self cognitive bad health condition. Among seven domains of job stressors, job demand was affected by 8 characteristics. Conclusion: This study indicated that workers' job stress level were various by their characteristics except workplace size. The development of stress management programs by types of industry is required. On the base of the model program, planning of customized program for every company or employee is required. High job demand, insufficient job control, insufficient sleeping time, bad health condition are the key factors of workers' job stress in this study. The change of workers' health behavior with supportive environment is essential to stress management program. More researches for adding physical environment domain to KOSQ SF are expected.

  • Analyses were performed with Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. The population was 1,391 Korean workers in total. Subjects who get scores of self-esteem lower than those before the accidents were 539 people(42.34%). On the other hand, subjects who get the same or higher scores of self-esteem than those before the accidents were 802 people(57.66%). The average score of the whole showed 30.09 point that is higher than 29.99 points that were analyzed from primary panel data. The odds ratio of self-esteem is analyzed to find that what is the most important factor for improving self-esteem of the workers group. The result of odds ratio analysis was 1.60 in the not-to-return-to-work group, significantly higher of the score of self-esteem than the return-to-work group. The statistically significant odds ratio of unemployed workers group from the group of workers who return to work prove the academically conventional social norms. This result shows that the workers condition, whether or not they can return to their work, affects the workers' self-esteem. Therefore, the workers' condition for returning to the work should be considered the most important service for Korean workers' compensation and welfare services.
