Fabrication of Composite Drug Delivery System Using Nano Composite Deposition System and in vivo Characterization

  • The Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology has advanced in many application areas. In this research, two different types, cylinder and scaffold, of implantable Drug Delivery System (DDS) were fabricated using Nano Composite Deposition System (NCDS), one of the RP systems. The anti-cancer drug (5-fluorouracil, 5-FU), biodegradable polymer (PLGA(85: 15)), and bio ceramic (Hydroxyapatite, HA) were used to form drug-polymer composite material. Both types of DDS were evaluated in vivo environment for two weeks. For evaluation, the cumulative drug release and shape stability were measured. Test results showed that the scaffold DDS provide higher cumulative drug release and has better stability than cylinder DDS.

0-3 압전 세라믹스-고분자 복합소재의 전기적 특성과 제조 (Fabrication and Electrical Properties of 0-3 Piezoelectric Ceramic - Polymer Composite)

  • 본 연구에서는 0-3 타입의 압전 세라믹 - 고분자 복합소재를 제조하기 위해서 $Pb(Zr_{0.54}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ + 0.2 wt% $Cr_2O_3$ + 1 wt% $Nb_2O_5$ 조성을 기본 조성으로 하여, 세라믹-고분자 첨가량에 따른 복합소재의 전기적 특성과 여러 분극조건, 즉 분극온도, 분극시간, 분극전압 변화에 의한 압전 특성을 고찰하였다. 세라믹 첨가비율이 증가함에 따라 유전상수와 압전상수($d_{33}$)는 증가하였으며, 전압상수($g_{33}$)는 급격히 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, 분극시간과 분극전압도 전기적 특성에 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다. 분극전압 5KV 인가한 고분자 15% 첨가한 복합 소재에서 유전상수 13, 압전상수 $d_{33}$ 23(${\ast}10^{-12}C/N$), 전압상수 $g_{33}$ 170($10^{-3}v.m/N$)의 우수한 특성을 나타내었다.

압전 세라믹-고분자 1-3형 복합 압전체 트랜스듀서의 펄스에코 특성 (Pulse-echo Response of Piezoceramic-Polymer 1-3 Type Composite Transducers)

  • In this study, the piezoelectric transducers with 1-3 connectivity have maded. A piezoelectric ceramic PZT prepared by Wet-Dry Combination method is used as a filler in Eccogel polymer matrix. The pulse-echo response for 1-3 type composite transducers were carried out in water. It was observed that the transmitting and receiving sensitivity of 1-3 type composite transducers were improved in comparison with that or solid PZT transducer. The reason is for that 1-3 composites have a hish piezoelectric voltage coefficients, The period of pulse-echo response for the transducer is in a good agreement with the resonant frequency of self-maded composite transducer.

Dielectric Properties of Ceramic/Polymer Composites at Microwave Frequencies

  • Effects of particle size, crystal structures and multilayer structures of $ATiO_3$, $ATa_2O_6$, $ANb_2O_6$, $AWO_4$, and $AMoO_4$ (A=Ni, Mg, Zn, Co) ceramic fillers on the dielectric properties of polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer matrices were investigated at microwave frequencies. The microwave dielectric properties of $ATiO_3$ (ilmenite), $ATa_2O_6$ (tri-rutile), $ANb_2O_6$ (columbite), AWO4 (wolframite), and AMoO4 (wolframite) ceramics were largely dependent on the structural characteristics of oxygen octahedra. The dielectric constant (K) of the composites was increased with the ceramic content. However, the dielectric loss (tan ${\delta}$) of the composites was affected by the type of ceramics and the crystallinity of polymers. For the composites with same amount of ceramics, the K was decreased and the tan ${\delta}$ was increased with the particle size of ceramics. Also, the dielectric properties of the composites were dependent on the multilayer structures with different arrangements. Several theoretical models have been employed to predict the effective dielectric properties of the composites. The frequency dependence of dielectric properties and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) of the composites were also discussed.

친수성, 통기성 및 항균성이 향상된 고분자-세라믹 복합소재의 제조 및 물성 (Syntheses and Characterizations of Polymer-Ceramic Composites Having Increased Hydrophilicity, Air-Permeability, and Anti-Fungal Property)

  • 일반적으로 고분자 재질은 표면이 수분을 배척하는 소수성이며 또한 통기성이 좋지 못하다. 이러한 물성을 개질하기 위하여 고분자 플라스틱에 기능성 충전제로 친수성인 세라믹 입자와 항균입자를 혼합하여 친수성, 통기성 및 항균성이 향상 된 복합재료를 제조하였으며 표면 접촉각 측정, 공기투과시간 측정, 항균효과 관찰을 통해 물성을 확인하였다. 이러한 복합 재료는 건강관련 제품에 널리 이용될 수 있다.

  • In this paper dielectric and piezoelectric properties were measured for 2 phase - dispersed composite system consisting of ferroelectric ceramic PZT particles and polymer PVC. The results were analyzed and the validity of composite theories for experimental results were discussed. And also in high temperature where ionic conductivity is dominated, linear and nonlinear permittivites were measured and discussed.
