$F{\ddot{o}}rster$ resonance energy transfer (FRET) is extremely sensitive to the separation distance between the donor and the acceptor which is ideal for probing such biological phenomena. Also, FRET-based probes have been developing for detecting an unamplified, low-abundance of target DNA. Here we describe the development of FRET based DNA sensor based on an accumulated QD system for detecting KRAS G12D mutation which is the most common mutation in cancer. The accumulated QD system consists of the polystyrene beads which surface is modified with carboxyl modified QDs. The QDs are sandwich-hybridized with DNA of a capture probe, a reporter probe with Texas-red, and a target DNA by EDC-NHS coupling. Because the carboxyl modified QDs are located closely to each other in the accumulated QDs, these neighboring QDs are enough to transfer the energy to the acceptor dyes. Therefore the FRET factor in the bead system is enhancing by the additional increase of 29.2% as compared to that in a single QD system. These results suggest that the accumulated nanobead probe with conjugated QDs can be used as ultrasensitive DNA nanosensors detecting the mutation in the various cancers.
Malodorous gas of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) was biologically oxidized to sulfate by Thiobacillus thioparus TK-m (DSM5368) immobilized in/on ceramic beads. More than 99.99% of DMS removal efficiency was obtained in a ceramic-biofilter reactor of 3.91 when the feed concentrations were about 27.5 and 55.0 mg DMS/1 at $30^{circ}C$. However, the removal efficiency of the biofilter at above $40^{circ}C$ decreased to 4.5 mg DMS/(lㆍmin) which was 85% of that at $30^{circ}C$.

The porous ceramic beads using mine tailing were prepared and applied to catalytic converter for NOx/SOx removal. Catalytic support was used synthesized mesoporous silica (SBA-15) which coated on surface. Internal structure for porous ceramic beads was composed of three-dimensional network structure and porosity was about 80%. In addition, the specific surface area for mesoporous silica(SBA-15) coated on converter was significantly increased 55 $m^2/g$ compared with 0.8 $m^2/g$ before coating. NOx/SOx removal experiment was performed using $V_2O_5$ and $V_2O_5$/CuO converter. NOx conversion ratio for $V_2O_5$/CuO converter was approximately increased 10% compared to $V_2O_5$ converter. In addition, catalytic converter of $V_2O_5$/CuO was shown to remove 95% of NOx and 90% of SOx at reaction temperature of $350^{\circ}C$, space velocity of 10000 $h^{-1}$ and $O_2$ concentrations of 5%, respectively.

Nanoporous bioactive glass(NBG) ceramic with well interconnected pore structures were fabricated bytriblock copolymer templating and sol-gel techniques. Hierarchically porous BGbeads were also successfully synthesized by controlling the condition of solvent. The beads have hierarchically nano- and macro-pore structure with a sizesbetween several tens nanometers and several hundred micrometers. Both NBG andBG beads show superior bone-forming bioactivity and good in vitrobiodegradability. Biocompatibility both in vitro and in vivo were examed andwas revealed that it largely relies on the pore morphology as well ascomposition. Our synthetic process can be adapted for the purpose of preparingvarious bioceramics, which have excellent potential applications in the fieldof biomaterials such as tissue engineering and drug storage.

In this paper, We explained the best shape design of electrode for discharge on the water. Electrode with rounding was reduced maximum electric field of over 40% to electrode without rounding for discharge on the water and the best shape of electrode for discharge on the water designed when shape of electrode had a curve radius of over $60^{\circ}$ at electrode's face to electrode's face with minimum distance and a curve radius of under $120^{\circ}$ at electrode's side face to electrode's front face. And When dielectric beads are used between electrodes, the life of electrodes is improved by lower stress of electric field on surface of electrodes.

To study the dispersion factors of silica sol prepared from fumed silica powder, we prepared silica sol under an aqueous system using a batch type bead mill. The dispersion properties of silica sol have a close relationship to dispersion factors such as pH, milling time and speed, the size and amount of zirconia beads, the solid content of fumed silica, and the shape and diameter of the milling impellers. Especially, the silica particles in silica sol were found to show dispersion stability on a pH value above 7, due to the electrostatic repulsion between the particles having a high zeta potential value. The shape and diameter of the impellers installed in the bead mill for the dispersion of fumed silica was very important in reducing the particle size of the aggregated silica. The median particle size ($D_{50}$) of silica sol obtained after milling was also optimized according to the variation of the size and amount of the zirconia beads that were used as the grinding medium, and according to the solid content of fumed silica. The dispersion properties of silica sol were investigated using zeta potential, turbiscan, particle size analyzer, and transmission electron microscopy.
The effect of $N_2$ back-flushing period (FT) and time (BT) was compared with the previous result used PES (polyethersulfone) beads loaded with titanium dioxide photocatalyst in hybrid process of alumina microfiltration and PP (polypropylene) beads coated with photocatalyst in viewpoints of membrane fouling resistance ($R_f$), permeate flux (J), and total permeate volume ($V_T$). The reason of nitrogen back-washing instead of the general air back-washing method is to minimize the possible effect of oxygen included in air on water quality analysis. As decreasing FT, $R_f$ decreased and J and $V_T$ increased. Treatment efficiency of dissolved organic matters (DOM) was 82.0%, which was the higher than 78.0% of the PES beads result. This means that PP beads coated with photocatalyst was the more effective than PES beads loaded with photo-catalyst in the DOM removal. As increasing BT, the final $R_f$ decreased and the final J increased, but $V_T$ was the maximum at BT 15 sec. The average treatment efficiency of turbidity did not have any trend as changing BT. As BT increasing from 6 sec to 30 sec, the treatment efficiency of DOM increased 11.8%, which was a little higher than the result of PES beads.
The effects of pH, saturated oxygen, and back-flushing media were investigated in hybrid process of tubular ceramic microfiltration and $TiO_2$ photocatalyst-loaded PES (polyethersulfone) beads for advanced drinking water treatment, and compared results of water, nitrogen, or oxygen back-flushing in the viewpoints of membrane fouling resistance ($R_f$), permeate flux (J) and total treated water ($V_T$). $R_f$ decreased, and J and $V_T$ increased as decreasing pH. Turbidity treatment efficiencies were similar at water or nitrogen back-flushing independent of pH, but DOM (dissolved organic matter) treatment efficiency did not have a trend at water back-flushing. $R_f$ at NBF (no back-flushing) with SO (saturated oxygen) was the lower than that at NBF without SO. Also, the DOM treatment efficiency at NBF with SO was the lower than that at NBF without SO. It happened because OH radicals produced by reaction of SO and photocatalyst could dilute with water inside the module. The DOM treatment efficiency of gas back-flushing showed the larger than that of water back-flushing at back-flushig period 10 min. It proved that the adsorption or photo-oxidation of PES beads could be activated by the more effective bead-cleaning of gas back-flushing than water back-flushing.
The $N_2$ back-flushing period (FT) and time (BT) were investigated in hybrid process of ceramic microfiltration and PES (polyethersulfone) beads loaded with titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) photocatalyst for advanced drinking water treatment in viewpoints of membrane fouling resistance ($R_f$), permeate flux (J), and total permeate volume ($V_T$). As decreasing FT and increasing BT, $R_f$ decreased and J increased, and finally the maximum $V_T$ could be acquired at FT 10 min and BT 30 sec. In FT effect experiment, treatment efficiencies of turbidity and dissolved organic matters (DOM) were the highest at no back-flushing (NBF) because of dramatic membrane fouling. As result of BT effect, the treatment efficiencies were the maximum at BT 30 sec, which was different with the FT result. Because the photocatalyst beads could be cleaned effectively as decreasing FT and increasing BT, turbidity treatment efficiency increased a little from 95.4% to 97.5% as decreasing FT, and from 95.9% to 98.5% as increasing BT. Also DOM treatment efficiency increased from 70.8% to 80.6% as decreasing FT, and from 75.1% to 85.8% as increasing BT. The optimal condition, where the treatment efficiencies and $V_T$ were the maximum, should be FT 10 min and BT 30 sec in our experimental range.

$TiO_2$ nanofibers were fabricated by annealing electrospun $TiO_2$/PVP nanofibers for 3 h at $500^{\circ}C$ in air. Size and uniformity of electrospun $TiO_2$ nanofiber diameters were evaluated via XRD and SEM by varying electric field, PVP concentration, Ti tetraisopropoxide concentration and precursor flow rate. Experimental results revealed that the effect of PVP concentration on size and uniformity of electrospun $TiO_2$ nanofiber diameters was most profound, however, the other effects were relatively small. Uniform fibers with no beads were observed for the electrospun anatase titania nanofibers with a diameter of 170 nm.
