Y 스트레이너형 자동 정유량 조절 밸브의 개발 (Development of Y Strainer Type Automatic Flow Rate Regulating Valve)

  • An 'Y' strainer type automatic flow rate regulating valve, which functions are to remove impurities from hot water inside the pipe and to maintain a constant flow rate regardless of variations of the differential pressure between valve inlet and outlet at the same time, is developed for distributing hot water equally to several pipes with district heating or central heating system. Numerical analysis of the three dimensional turbulent flow field in a valve shape is carried out to confirm the flow field whether the designed regulator shape is acceptable or not. The final developed valve improves installation time and cost and maintenance ability comparing with set-up 'Y' strainer and regulator separately. Tolerance for the nominal flow rate is also satisfied within ${\pm}5%$.

  • Thermal shock resistance of $Al_2O_3$- and Fe-$Al_2TiO_5$-based Castable Refractories was studied using a central heating technique. Ring type specimens, 10mm thick and 20 and 100mm inner and outer diameters, respectively, were rapidly heated on the internal surface of the centre hole using a high power electrical heating element. The temperature field was measured experimentally and modelled using finite element analysis (FEA). The thermal stress field was also modelled using FEA. A radial notch was introduced to the ring specimens to enable calculation of the thermal stress intensity factors (SIF). A special LVDT device was incorporated in the thermal shock tester to monitor crack mouth opening displacement (COD). The thermal shock fracture initiation and crack propagation behaviour of the castable refractories were ascertained using the COD measurements and the fracture mechanics analysis data.

  • 본 논문에는 러시아 중앙엔진연구소의 스크램젯 시험 설비의 공력 특성이 제시되었다. 본 논문에서 시험 설비 노즐 출구의 온도와 마하 분포는 마하 6의 비행 조건을 시뮬레이션하여 얻어진 것이다. 시험 설비 작동 범위에 스크램젯 모델을 설치한 조건에서 노즐 입구로 공기를 가열하지 않은 조건과 가열한 조건에서 분사함으로써 다양한 작동 모드의 유효 압력 차와 조절 특성을 얻었다.

Drained End Shield Effects on Heat Deposition Rate Distribution in CANDU 6 Reactor End Shield Structure

  • The loss of water in the carbon steel balls and water region of the end shield for CANDU 6 reactor could lead to significant temperature gradient through the end shield structure which amy result in the excessive deformation. With an assumed end shield drained scenario, the heat deposition rates were calculated through the end shield associated with the central fuel channel during full power operation as an initial step to thermal stress analysis. The drained case was compared with that of water present normal case in therms of heat deposition rater and the total heating throughout the end shield regions. The compared results show that the heat deposition and the total heating remain almost the same between the two cases. It was found that the change of volume integrated flux in the end shield regions due to the loss of water contribute a negligible effect on the heat deposition in this region.

동절기 수박 접목묘의 안정적 생산을 위한 나노탄소섬유적외선 램프의 난방효과에 대한 적정 설치간격 (Proper Installation Distance for Heating Effect of Nano-Carbon Fiber Infrared Heating Lamp for Stable Production of Watermelon Grafted Seedlings in Winter Season)

  • 본 연구는 동절기 공정육묘장의 수박 플러그 묘 생산 시, 난방 에너지 절감에 유리한 난방장치인 나노탄소섬유 적외선 난방등의 효율적인 사용을 위한 적정 전력과 설치 간격을 구명하기 위해 수행되었다. 유리온실 내 소형 베드 6개를 플라스틱 필름으로 구획을 나누었으며, 100cm 높이에 700W와 900W 난방등을 설치하였다. 난방등은 설치 간격을 각각 중앙 1개(Control), 60cm 간격(2개), 40cm 간격(3개)으로 설치하였다. 나노탄소섬유 적외선 난방등을 점등한 후 대조구를 제외한 모든 처리에서 설정한 야간 기온(20℃)을 유지하였다. 엽온은 난방등 설치 간격이 좁을수록 빨리 상승하는 경향을 보였다. 나노탄소섬유 적외선 난방등을 사용함에 따른 처리구간 수박 접목묘의 생육에는 뚜렷한 차이가 없었으나, 엽장과 엽폭은 700W 난방등에서 설치 간격이 짧을수록 길어지는 경향을 보였으며, 700W 난방등을 40cm 간격으로 설치하였을 때 묘의 충실도가 높은 값을 나타내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 야간 기온 유지와 묘의 충실도를 고려하였을 때, 700W 난방등을 40cm 간격으로 설치하는 것이 수박 접목묘를 생산하는데 경제성을 고려하여 효율적인 나노탄소섬유 적외선 난방등의 전력과 설치 간격으로 판단된다.

열대 해양의 해수면온도와 구름의 상호관계 (Interrelationships between Sea Surface Temperatures and Clouds over the Tropical Oceans)

  • The intra-annual and interannual variations of total, high, middle, low clouds, and cloud forcing net solar radiation flux, cloud forcing net long-wave radiation flux, and SSTs over the tropical oceans are investigated with the use of ISCP D2, NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis for January 1983-December 1993. The intra-annual variation of total cloudiness is dominated by high and middle clouds in the western Pacific and central tropical oceans, the interannual variation of total cloudiness is also dominated by high and middle clouds in the central Pacific and Atlantic. The dominant intra-annual and interannual EOFs of total cloudiness have spatially coherent link with those SSTs. For the interannual EOFs, total cloudiness and SSTs are related to E1 nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO). The second most important intra-annual EOFs of total cloudiness are related to Inter Tropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ). The third most important intra-annual EOFs show coherent relation in the western Pacific. The correlation analysis between cloud radiative effects and SSTs show spatially coherent relation over the tropical oceans even though cloud forcing cooling effect is much higher than heating effect.

Three-dimensional simulations of star formation in central region of barred-spiral galaxies

  • The central regions of barred-spiral galaxies contain interesting gaseous structures such as dust lanes located at the leading side of the bar and nuclear rings that are sites of intense star formation. Our previous studies showed how gas structures form under the influence of a non-axisymmetric bar potential and temporal/spatial behavior of the star formation in nuclear rings. However, previous works were limited to 2-dimensional infinitesimally-thin, unmagnetized and isothermal disks. To study effects of cooling/heating, vertical motions of gas structures and magnetic field, we use Mesh-Free magneto-hydrodynamic simulation code GIZMO. We find that temporal variations of the star formation rates in the nuclear ring in the three-dimensional model are overall similar those in the previous two-dimensional results, although the former shows more violent small-scale fluctuations near the early primary peak. We will present our recent results about evolution of gaseous structures and star formation rate compare with results of previous studies.

Optimization of Heat Exchanger Network in the Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage Process Integration

  • The Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) process is an enhanced method to extract oil from bitumen which involves surface and central process facilities. This paper describes the Central Process Facilities (CPF) of SAGD and proposes several retrofit plans to the Heat Exchanger Network (HEN). In this approach, the process integration scheme is applied to estimate the energy saving in HENs, and various cases are modeled in favor of a commercial simulator. Throughout this work, a minimum approach temperature of 10℃ is assumed. The results reveal that, due to the HEN optimization using process integration, the heating and cooling duties can be reduced to 29.68MW and 1.886MW, respectively. Compared with the Husky case, all cases considered in this study indicate a potential reduction of at least 6% in total cost, including investment and operation costs.

  • Three unknown ninhydrin positive substances (UK-I, UK-II and UK-III) were detected with an amino acid analyzer in a water extract of Korean red ginseng. One of them (UK-II) was isolated and determined to be maltulosyl arginine (Arg-Fru-Glc) on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence. Another one (VK-III) was identified as Arg-Fru. Maltulosyl arginine, but not Arg-Fru, is a newly identified amino acid derivative. The Korean red ginseng was shown to contain more amount of maltulosyl arginine than the white ginseng. Maltulosyl arginine was found to be produced by the Mallard reaction of maltose with arginine during the heating process involved in preparation of the red ginseng. Maltulosyl arginine was found to inhibit maltase activity. Based on these results, the physiological significance of this new compound is discussed.

Dimesogenic Compounds Consisting of Two Identical Terminal N-(4-Oxybenzylidene)-4-n-butylaniline Units and a Central Polymethylene Spacer

  • A series of dimesogenic compounds having two identical, terminal Schiff base type mesogens and a central polymethylene spacer were prepared and their properties were compared with those of the corresponding monomesogenic compounds. The mesomorphic properties of the compounds were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and on a hot-stage of a polarizing microscope. All of the dimesogenic compounds formed mesophases enantiotropically with the exception of pentamethylene-1,5-bis(4-oxybenzylidene 4-n-butylaniline). This compound was monotropic and formed only a nematic phase on heating the solid, whereas it formed nematic as well as smectic A phases on cooling the isotropic liquid. Those compounds containing longer (octamethylene and decamethylene) spacers favored the formation of nematic phase whereas those having shorter (dimethylene and tetramethylene) spacers formed smectic phases. In general, the variety of mesophase forms exhibited by the dimesogenic compounds was significantly less than that shown by the corresponding monomesogenic compounds.
