  • Facing information overload in today's complex environments, managers look to a concise set of marketing metrics to provide direction for marketing decision making. While there have been several papers dealing with the theoretical aspects of dashboard creation, no research creates and tests a dashboard using scientific techniques. This study develops and demonstrates an empirical approach to dashboard metric selection. In a fast moving consumer goods category, this research selects leading indicators for national-brand and store-brand sales and revenue premium performance from 99 brand-specific and relative-to-competition variables including price, brand equity, usage occasions, and multiple measures of awareness, trial/usage, purchase intent, and liking/satisfaction. Plotting impact size and wear-in time reveals that different kinds of variables predict sales at distinct lead times, which implies that managerial action may be taken to turn the metrics around before performance itself declines.

  • The resource-based theory addresses a new way of competition and the sustainability of advantages from competition, Moreover, Information Technology(IT) has interacted with other resources and gained the strategic importance. The central research task is to identify three relationships; (1) between organizational resources surrounding IT and IT performances, (2) between organizational resources surrounding IT and sustainable competitive advantages(SCA), and (3) between IT performances and the SCA. Results of the LISREL analysis show that firms must integrate IT into the other related resources of the organization and the management should consider comprehensive change management efforts rather than mere investments in technology to gain sustainable competitive advantages.

  • Six species of springtails (Collembola) are reported for the first time from North Korea: Pachyotoma takeshitai (Kinoshita, 1916), Folsomia bisetosa Gisin, 1953 and Agrenia agilis Fjellberg, 1986 of Isotomidae, Entomobrya sibirica Stach, 1963 and Willowsia buski (Lubbock, 1870) of Entomobryidae, and Ptenothrix setosa (Krausbauer, 1898) of Dicyrtomidae. The genus Pachyotoma Bagnall, 1949 is mentioned for the first time from the Korean Peninsula. In order to facilitate the identification of these species, illustrations and short diagnoses are provided and the poorly known P. takeshitai is described in detail. Ptenothrix setosa and E. sibirica link the Korean peninsular fauna with Central Asia, P. takeshitai shows the zoogeographical connection of the Korean Peninsula with the Japanese Islands and A. agilis has a trans-pacific distribution. Folsomia bisetosa is an interesting circumpolar element in the Korean fauna while W. buski is a subcosmopolitan species.

  • The present study addresses the research frameworks and directions in the area of accounting information systems (AIS) by conducting a comprehensive survey of 76 A/S doctoral dissertations published between 1980 and 1990. The central research task is to identify the distinctive features of A/S that distinguish it from other disciplines. The procedure of the survey analysis is as follows. First, the A/S dissertations are categorized according to information systems (IS) and accounting. Then, some representative A/S research areas are documented, based on the IS/accounting domain combinations. The paper also attempts to discover the topical trends, supporting bases, and qualitative aspects of the A/S research. The survey reveals a : 1) the existence of economics as a supporting discipline, 2) the topical trend consistent with the evolution of IS, but restricted by the specific combinations of its parent domains, and 3) the need for intellectual rigor in the A/S research.
