This study concerns the cement-solidification/stabilization of the municipal waste incineration fly-ash. Compressive strength and leaching test of heavy metals were evaluated for varying types and ratios of cements and the effects of some additives of Hauyne clinker and slag were also discussed. In the cases of using cement binders more than 10%, the compressive strength after 3 days showed the values over $20kgf/cm^2$. Type III cement and Hauyne clinker improved the compressive strength, especially early strength. And the values of leaching test showed that cement-solidification is effective method to stabilize heavy metals especialy when using type III cement and adding Hauyne clinker and slag,.
Performance of Sustainable materials continues through using of recycled waste construction materials to minimize the utilization of the natural resources. The cement industry is a major source of CO2 in the atmosphere which is the main cause of global warming. Replacement of OPC with other sustainable cementitious materials has been the most interesting area of researches. This investigation focuses on the properties of alkali-activated mortar with the different replacement ratios of ceramic tile powder (CTP) by fine soil powder (FSP) (0 to 100)% and different molarities of sodium hydroxide concentrations. The experimental program was conducted by examining the compressive strength, water absorption, and water sorptivity. The results showed that the compressive strength of the specimens at age of (28, 56, and 90 days) increases with an increase in the amount of fine soil powder content and decreases at the age of 120 days. Also, minimum water absorption at the age of 90 days was found in the mixes containing 100% fine soil powder. However, fine soil powder replacement had a negative effect on the sorptivity and water absorption values at the age of 120 days. On the other hand, the 12M sodium hydroxide concentration was considered the optimum concentration compared to other concentrations.
The aim of this paper is to present a new sustainable ternary and quaternary binder by partially replacing ordinary Portland cement (OPC) with different percentages of supplementary cementitious materials. The motivation is to reduce our dependency on OPC to reduce CO2 emission and carbon foot print. As the main substitute for the OPC, siliceous fly ash was used. Moreover, silica fume and nanosilica were also used. During examinations the main mechanical parameters of concrete composites, i.e., compressive strength (fcm) and splitting tensile strength (fctm) were assed. The microstructure of these materials was also analysed. It was found that the concrete incorporating pozzolanic materials is characterized by a well-developed structure and has high values of mechanical parameters. The quaternary concrete containing: 80% OPC, 5% FA, 10% SF, and 5% nS have shown the best results in terms of good strength parameters as well as the most favourable microstructure, whereas the worst mechanical parameters with microstructure containing microcracks at phase interfaces were characterized by concrete with more content of FA additive in the concrete mix, i.e., 15%. Nevertheless, all concretes made on quaternary binders had better parameters than the reference one. It can be stated that sustainable concrete incorporating pozzolanic materials could be good substitute of ordinary concretes.
The purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the construction performances and economical evaluation of the self-compacting concrete in actual site work after selecting the optimum mix proportions according to cementitious materials. Slag cement type of 46.5% slag powder and belite cement of 51.4% $C_2S$ content, lime stone powder as binders are selected for site experiment including water cement ratio. Also, test items for optimum mix proportion are as followings ; (1) Slump flow, 500 mm reaching time, V-type flowing time and U-box height (2) Setting time, bleeding, shortening depth and adiabatic temperature rising (3) Mixing time in plant (4) Concrete quantity and cost, quality control in actual concrete work. As test results, (4) Optimum water-cement ratio ; Slag cement type 41.0% and belite cement 51.0% (2) Setting time and bleeding finishing time of slag cement are faster, bleeding content of slag cement is higher, shortening depth and adiabatic temperature rising of belite cement type are lower (3) Optimum mixing time in batcher plant is 75 seconds and concrete productive capacity is about $100{\sim}110m^3/hr$. (4) Belite cement type is lower than slag cement type in material cost 14.0%, and concrete quantity in actual concreting work save 3.3% in case of belite cement type. Therefore, self-compacting concrete of belite cement type is definitely superior to that of slag cement type in various test items without compressive strength development.

The fundamental performance of any construction material should cover at least two phases: safety and serviceability. Safety commonly represents adequate strength, while serviceability encompasses the control of cracking and deflections at service loads. With respect to rapid hydraulic binders as a construction material, the above two phases should also be considered. Recent research on rapid cooling ladle furnace slag (RC-LFS) has drawn much attention, particularly given that it shows remarkable rapid hydraulic ability to pulverize to a fineness of $6,300cm^2/g$. This industrial byproduct could contribute to developing the sustainability of the rapidly hardening cementitious material system. This paper aims to expand upon the applicability of an RC-LFS-based binder that is composed of two parts. It also seeks to illustrate the engineering performance of an RC-LFS-based hybrid fiber-reinforced composite and to increase the strength of the RC-LFS-based composite. Each step of this experiment followed ASTM standards. The engineering performance, in both fresh state and hardening state, was tested and discussed in this paper. According to the experimental results for fresh concrete, the air content increased following the addition of polypropylene fiber. For hardened concrete, the toughness and strength improved following the addition of a hybrid fiber. The hybrid fiber mixture, which contains 0.75% of steel fiber and 0.25% of polypropylene fiber, shows even better engineering performance than other mixtures.

Having an awareness of the ongoing conception of Honam-Jeju, Korea-Japan, and Korea-China subsea tunnels for accommodating the railway, this paper investigates immersion tube tunnel technology, one of the underwater tunnel construction methods. This paper analyses the current status of immersed tube tunnels according to their location and function. This paper summarises the dredging methods and briefly introduces the muck disposal facility. Also introduced are the case studies where measures were taken to mitigate the impact of dredging on the surrounding marine environment. This paper also explains how the tunnel elements are connected underwater using an immersion joint. This paper classifies the foundation methods into bedding and ground improvement methods and provides summaries, including their environmental impact associated with drill cuttings and cementitious binders.

Recently, a variety of new cement-based materials have been developed, and attempts to predict the properties of these new materials are increasing. In this study, we aimed to predict the rheological properties of binary blended pastes. The cementitious materials used in the study included Portland cement (PC), fly ash (FA), blast furnace slag (BS), and silica fume (SF). The three binder components, fly ash, blast furnace slag, and silica fume, were blended with cement as the foundational composition. We predicted the yield stress and plastic viscosity of the pastes using the YODEL (Yield stress mODEL) and Krieger-Dougherty's equation. The predictive model's performance was validated by comparing it with experimental results obtained using a rheometer. When the rheological properties of the binary blended paste were predicted by reconstructing the properties and parameters used to predict the individual materials, it was evident that the predictions made using the proposed method closely matched the experimental results.

In this paper, a ferrosilicon by-product was evaluated to confirm the feasibility of recycling it as supplementary cementitious material of ordinary Portland cement in concrete. Three different levels of replacement ratio (10 %, 20 % and 30 % of total binder) were applied to find which is the most beneficial to be used as a binder. Ferrosilicon concrete was initially assessed at setting time and compressive strength. Durability was evaluated by the resistance to chloride penetration test(RCPT) and alkali-silica reaction(ASR) with a comparison to silica fume concrete due to their similarity in chemical composition. The porosimetry and X-ray diffraction analysis along with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy give information on the microstructural characteristics of the ferrosilicon concrete. It was found that 10 % ferrosilicon concrete has higher strength while 20 %, 30 % have lower strength than OPC concrete. However, chemical resistance to chloride attack is higher when replacement is increased. Compared to silica fume, the durability of ferrosilicon might be less efficient however, it is obviously beneficial than OPC. High SiO2 content in ferrosilicon results in producing more C-S-H gel which could make denser pore structure. Most of the risk of alkali silica reaction to silicate binders through length change tests was less than 0.2 %, and both mortar using ferrosilicon and silica fume showed better resistance to alkali silica reaction as the substitution rate increased.Reuse of industrial waste rather than producing highly refined additives might reduce environmental load during manufacture and save costs.
