The column-type sensing element in building and mechanical construction parts was designed as three forces and three moments sensor by attaching strain gages approximately. Compared to conventional multi-component sensor, the designed sensor can solve the problem about low stiffness and high cost. The radius of the column was designed analytically and compared with finite element analysis. The coupling errors between components were minimized by using addition and subtraction procedure of signals. The fabricated sensor was tested by using a deadweight force standard machine and a six-component force calibration machine in Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science(KRISS). The calibration showed that the multi-component force/moment sensor had coupling error less than 19.8 % between $F_x$ and $M_y$ components, and 9.0 % in case of other components.

This paper analyzes interference power, Erlang capacity, the number of handoff occurrences, and call blocking probability with respect to the cell radius, the soft handoff region, and the mobile's velocity in a CDMA hierarchical cellular system. The microcell cellular system has the higher Erlang capacity than the macrocell cellular system. However, the microcell cellular system, which has a high system capacity through frequency reuse has the call blocking probability higher than macrocell cellular system. Also the interference power and the call blocking probability are decreased with the operation of soft handoff. Therefore, this paper presents the optimization of soft handoff region so as to maximize system's Erlang capacity with the low the call blocking probability according to mobile's velocity in the CDMA hierarchial cellular system.
Blue phase shows several different reflection colors from the randomly oriented domains and crystal direction. Also there are variations in the size of domains. The domain size is dependent on the temperature gradient. With smaller cooling rate of temperature, the domain size was increased compared with rapid cooling. With injection of light of specific wavelength, we find that the diffraction patterns were occurred around the light spot in the cell of blue phase. It was supposed to be from the matching of the phase retardation and domain size. However, actually the diffraction pattern is reflecting the lattice structure in double twist of the blue phase. The lattice constant from the radius of diffraction patterns shows very similar one from the reflection spectrum, which indicates the internal lattice constant in double twist of the blues phase.

In the cellular mobile communications as decreasing the cell radius to increse the reuse factor of frequencies, the handoff requests are increasing so that the efficient handoff decision making becomes a crucial problem. In this simulation study, we evaluate a set of handoff algorithms based on fuzzy-multicriteria decision making. These algorithms uses the parameters including the received signal strength intensity, the bit error rate and the distance between a mobile station and a base station. We compare the fuzzy algorithms in terms of call block ratio and handoff request ratio and call force ratio, and show the applicability of those algorithms in the cellular mobile communication systems.

In general, cellular network is deployed as distributed network architecture, so network equipment is spread out all over the coverage area. This case causes high cost. Recently, centralized network architecture has been deployable at cellular network since base station was able to be virtualized due to advance in computing power. The centralized network architecture in cellular network adjusts its cell radius dynamically and minimizes power consumption of the network. This paper introduces a new centralized deployment way of cellular network using SDR and cloud computing technology. Then, advantage and feasibility of the new network will be reviewed by implementing this novel network.
In this study, an influence of local variation of nanoparticulate volume fraction on the homogenized elastic properties is investigated. It is well known that interface effect is dependent on the radius and volume fraction of reinforced nanofillers. However, there is no study on the multiscale modeling and analysis of polymer nanocomposites including polydispersed nanoparticles with consideration of interphase zone, which is dependent on the volume fraction of corresponding nanoparticles. As results of numerical examples, it is confirmed that an influence of local variation of nanoparticulate volume fraction should be considered for non-dilute system such as cluster of nanoparticles. Therefore representative volume element analysis is conducted by considering local variation of nanoparticle volume fraction in order to analyze the practical size of cell including hundreds of nanoparticles. It is expected that this study could be extended to the multiparticulate nanocomposite systems including polydispersed nanoparticles.

A number of investigations and studies have been conducted in various fields regarding the sediment disasters of Mt. Woomyeon that occurred in July 2011. We collected and compared the topographic information of the general points where debris flows did not occur and the collapse points where the debris flow occurred in order to find out the characteristics of the collapse points in Woomyeon mountain. The collected topographic information is altitude, curvature, slope, aspect and TPI(topographic position index). As a result of comparison, there were relatively many collapse points at an altitude of 210m to 250m, and at a slope of 30° to 40°. In addition, the risk of collapse was low in a cell where the curvature was close to 0, and the risk was higher in concave terrain than in convex terrain. In the case of TPI, there was no statistical difference between the general points and the collapse points when the analysis radius was larger than 200m, and there was a correlation with the curvature when the analysis radius was smaller than 50m. In the case of debris flows that are affected by artificial structures or facilities, there is a possibility of disturbing the topographic analysis results. Therefore, if a research on debris flow is conducted on a mountain area that is heavily exposed to human activities, such as Woomyeon mountain, diversified factors must be considered to account for this impact.

Sinuous antenna is utilized in a number of application like direction-finding system that require ultra wideband, but because of high input impedance of the antenna, it is difficult to design low-profile antenna and balun. In this study, we used Babinet's principle and proposed linear 2-arm slot sinuous antenna that is divided sinuous 6 cell with equal spacing between the most largest radius $R_1=31.83mm$ and the smallest radius $R_p=1.7mm$ instead of exponential 2-arm strip sinuous antenna for 2-18[GHz] frequency band to obtain low input impedance, and we have studied -10dB bandwidth of antenna when has been fed by $80{\Omega}$ instead of $188{\Omega}$ at feeder point. As a result, we have obtained return loss below than -10dB for about 4-18[GHz] frequency range in the case of slot antenna, but at all frequency band, return loss was above -10dB in the case of strip antenna.
In order to reduce friction and improve reliability, researchers have applied various surface texturing methods to highly sliding machine elements such as mechanical seals and piston rings. Despite extensive theoretical research on surface texturing, previous numerical results are only applicable to isothermal and iso-viscous conditions. Because the lubricant flow pattern of textured bearing surfaces is much more complicated than that for non-textured bearings, the Navier?Stokes equation is more suitable than the Reynolds equation for the former. This study carries out a thermohydrodynamic (THD) lubrication analysis to investigate the lubrication characteristics of a single micro-dimpled parallel thrust bearing cell. The analysis involves using the continuity, Navier?Stokes, energy, temperature?viscosity relation, and heat conduction equations with the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code FLUENT. This study discretizes these equations using the finite volume method and solves them using the SIMPLE algorithm. The results include finding the streamlines, pressure and temperature distributions, and variations in the friction force and leakage for various dimple radii and depths. Increasing the dimple radius and decreasing the depth causes a recirculation flow to form because of a strong vortex, and the oil temperature greatly increases compared with the non-textured case. The present numerical scheme and results are applicable to THD analysis of various surface-textured sliding bearings and can lead to further study.
In this study, we applied an increased surface area fractional precipitation with hydrophilic polymer for decreasing the particle size of the anticancer agent paclitaxel from plant cell cultures. The addition of polymer resulted in a considerable decrease in the size of the paclitaxel precipitate. Among the polymers (HPMC 2910, PVP-K90, PVA) used, PVP-K90 was the most effective for the inhibition of precipitate growth. When PVP-K90 (0.2%, w/v) was used, the paclitaxel particles were four to five times smaller, having less than a $20{\mu}m$ radius, than those obtained in the absence of the polymer. In addition, the precipitate size was inversely correlated with the absolute value of zeta potential.
