Characteristics of cold startup in automotive PEMFC (차량용 고분자전해질 연료전지의 냉시동 특성)

  • The startup behaviour of PEM fuel cells at subfreeze zero is one of the most challenging tasks to be solved before PEM fuel cell vehicle is commercialized. Automotive companies are trying to increase cold statup capability of fuel cell. In this study, we found out the design factor of the stack to increase cold startup capability using 4kW stack and then cold startup test was performed at the various shutdown condition and the various current. In order to test the cold startup possibility and capability in vehicle, we installed 80kW stack in the vehicle and this 80kW fuel cell vehicle was housed in an environmental chamber to investigate the characteristics of cold startup and driving. We found that it is possible for fuel cell vehicle with 80kW stack to self-heated cold startup and drive at $-15^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper, we developed the dynamic model of a fuel cell system suitable for controller design and system operation. The transient phenomena captured in the model include the flow characteristics and inertia dynamics of the compressor, the intake manifold filling dynamics, oxygen partial pressures and membrane humidity on the fuel cell voltage. In the simulations, we paid attention to the transient behavior of stack voltage and compressor pressure, stoichiometric ratio. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the model capability. For load current following, stack voltage dynamic characteristics are plotted to understand the Electro-chemistry involved with the fuel cell system. Compressor pressure and stoichiometric ratio are strongly coupled, and independent parameters may interfere with each other, dynamic response, undershoot and overshoot.

  • We have developed a novel vertical-alignment(VA) -$\pi$ cell mode that provides a wide viewing angle and fast response times for nematic liquid crystal(NLC) with negative dielectric anisotropy on a homeotropic polymide(PI) surfaces. Good voltage-transmittance curves and low driving voltages were achieved with the new VA-$\pi$ cell mode without a negative compensation film. Iso-viewing angle characteristics using the new VA-$\pi$ cell mode without a negative compensation film was also successfully observed. As well a fast response time of 31.7 ms for a new VA-$\pi$ mode was measured. Consequently the iso-viewing angel fast response time and low driving voltage characteristics using a VA-$\pi$ cell can be achieved.

  • In this paper, I try to measure the electrical characteristics of PV cell for lanterns with solar simulator and simulated with PC1D software. I keep my eye on the characteristics variation of PV cell as a temperature change. Therefore, I try to increase a temperature of controlled block from $10^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$ while measuring the PV cell. As a result, A variation caused by voltage have an effect on the efficacy of PV cell. Hence, it is an important variable when a designer plan to make a solar cell for lanterns.

  • In this paper, the performance of Pt/$WO_3$ and Pt-$WO_3$ electrodes was studied for the direct methanol fuel cell. The characteristics of Pt/$WO_3$ electrode which was prepared by using electrodeposition method was tested with half-cell experiment. The characteristics of Pt-$WO_3$/C electrode which was Prepared by using freeze-drying method was tested with a single cell experiment. The performance of DMFC single cell which was prepared by Pt-$WO_3/C$ and Pt/C showed a current density of $32mA/cm^2$ at $110^{\circ}C$ & 0.3V(0.5mg Pt/$cm^2$).

High Pass Filter Design Using Folded Coplanar Waveguide CRLH Transmission Line

  • A novel unit cell for a high pass filter was designed based on a composite right/left-handed structure that uses a folded coplanar waveguide. The equivalent circuit model for the unit cell was extracted from the geometry of the unit cell, and the effect of each main parameter of the unit cell was analyzed. The equations to calculate the immittance values of the equivalent circuit elements were formulated, and moreover, the dispersion characteristics and energy the distributions of the electromagnetic fields were simulated to determine the characteristics of the composite right/left-handed structure. Finally, the high pass filters were implemented as a series of the proposed unit cells. We show that the experimental results were in good agreement with those obtained from the simulation. Thus, the high pass filter was found to achieve a baseband insertion loss of 3 dB and a stopband attenuation of 70 dB.

  • We describe a manufacturing method and characteristics on components of molten carbonate fuel cell. Cr, Al, AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$, Co, MgO powder were mixed with Ni powder for anode components and NiO was used for cathode electrode. The electrolyte plate consisted of LiAIO$_{2}$ and carbonate (Li$_{2}$CO$_{3}$/K$_{2}$CO$_{3}$=62/38) and these three were manufactured by doctor-blade method. As a result, open circuit voltage was 1.05[VI at Ni-10Cr anode and porosity was above 60[%].

  • We have analyzed electrical characteristics of spot light solar cell modules and have completed fabrication of spot light solar cell modules. Before we test modules, we have carried about UV test of hologram. As a result of test, we have obtained 165% efficiency of hologram film. the other hand, we obtained 75% efficiency of general films. After we have fabricated solar modules and carried about field test, spot light solar cell modules with hologram have been investigated 17.3 A of Isc and 155.4 W of power.

  • Model fer the dynamic simulation of dynamic behaviors of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is provided. This model is based upon (1) coupled mass and heat transfer characteristics and (2) important chemical reactions such as electrochemical and reforming reactions in high temperature fuel cells such as SOFC. It is found that the thermal inertia of solid materials in SOFC plays an important role to the dynamic behavior of cell temperature. Dynamic characteristics of cell voltage, power, and chemical compositions with different levels of load change are investigated.
