  • The daylight responsive dimming system is an energy saving system that automatically controls lighting output of artificial lighting according to available daylight in inside, as well as keeps uniform workplace illuminance. The basic three components of the daylight responsive dimming system consist of a photosensor, a controller and a dimming ballast. This paper is a fundamental study of photosensor modeling for the daylight responsive dimming system. The correlation between photosensor illuminance on the ceiling and workplace illuminance is an important factor to accuracy of system performance, so that the purpose of this study is to improve accuracy for daylight responsive dimming system. This study performs to derive the optimized conditions of photosensor using the RADIANCE.

  • In the last five years, 45 people died and 104 were wounded because of carbon monoxide poisoning accident. CO poisoning accident is higher than any other gas accident in the rate of deaths/incidents. Most of these CO poisoning accidents were caused by defective exhaust tube in the old gas boiler and multi-use facility. In this study, the spread of CO gas released from leakage hole of exhaust tube was analyzed by computational flow modeling and concentration measuring test. CO gas leaked form exhaust tube in a building was highest concentrated near the ceiling and formed the circular currents along the walls. Through these experiments and simulation, the reasonable installation location of CO alarm was made certain and suggested.

  • Flow characteristics and contamination behavior in a three-dimensional room with the desk-type obstacle have been investigated numerically by the k-${\varepsilon}$ two equation turbulence model. The room model has one supply opening on the ceiling and two exhaust openings on the side walls. Thirty six sets of calculation have been performed for twelve contamination sources of $1{\times}10^{-4}kg_c/(m^3{\cdot}s)$ strength at different inlet velocities(0.1, 1, 10m/s). This study can conclude that the source points of contaminant are located near the obstacle edge of Z-axis, at which the maximum contaminant diffusion fields are occured.

  • This paper proposes a vision-based indoor localization method for autonomous vehicles. A single upward-facing digital camera was mounted on an autonomous vehicle and used as a vision sensor to identify artificial landmarks and any natural corner features. An interest point detector was used to find the natural features. Using an optical flow detection algorithm, information related to the direction and vehicle translation was defined. This information was used to track the vehicle movements. Random noise related to uneven light disrupted the calculation of the vehicle translation. Thus, to estimate the vehicle translation, a Kalman filter was used to calculate the vehicle position. These algorithms were tested on a vehicle in a real environment. The image processing method could recognize the landmarks precisely, while the Kalman filter algorithm could estimate the vehicle's position accurately. The experimental results confirmed that the proposed approaches can be implemented in practical situations.

  • In this study, smoke movement in tunnel fires was investigated with various aspect ratio(0.5, 0.667, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) of tunnel cross section. Reduced-scale experiments were carried out under the Froude scaling using 8.27 kW ethanol pool fire. Temperatures were measured under the ceiling and vertical direction along the center of the tunnel. Smoke front velocity and temperature decrease rate were reduced as higher aspect ratio of the tunnel cross-section. Smoke movement was evaluated by analysis of vertical temperature distribution 3 m downstream from the fire source. Elevation of smoke interface according to N percent rule was under about 60% of tunnel height.

  • 본 논문에서는 분산 실시간 시스템에서 공유되는 자원들에 대한 실시간적 특성을 분석하고, 태스크가 이들 자원을 요청했을 때, 봉쇄시간을 예측하는 자원 관리자를 제안한다. 분산 환경에서, 우리는 봉쇄의 주요 원인인 우선순위 역전 문제와 함께 원격 봉쇄의 문제점을 고려해야 한다. 본 논문에서 우선 순위 역전 문제는 동기 프로토콜로 잘 알려진 Priority Ceiling Protocols(PCP)를 사용하여 해결하였다. 또한, 원격 봉쇄의 문제에 대해서는, 전역자원을 다른 지역자원들 보다 우선적으로 수행함으로써 원격 태스크들로 인한 봉쇄시간을 예측할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 논문의 자원 관리자는 할당된 자원과 태스크들의 관계 목록을 이용하여, 요청된 자원의 상태에 따른 봉쇄요인을 분석하고, 그 결과로 태스크가 자원 수행을 마칠 때까지 소요되는 봉쇄시간의 상한값을 결정한다. 또한, 이러한 상한값의 타당성을 수학적으로 증명하였다.

  • This paper describes a path tracking method for vision-based and autonomous mobile robot in a corridor. At first, we extract the ceiling-lamp of the corridor through simple preprocessing (gray, thresholding, labeling, etc.) for robot position and orientation. Then, we design the controller for path-tracking. Simulations conducted, and acceptable vehicle localization results were obtained to prove the feasibility of the proposed approach.

  • The propagation, reflection and scattering characteristics of the near Infra-red lights were experimented in order to check the feasibility of non-restrained biotelemetry using indirect transmitted light. The results of the experiments show that 3 kinds of walls examined are not specular reflectors but almost perfect diffuse surfaces with slight directivity and that light in a local point is spread out and fills the room uniformly by repeating the reflection and scattering at walls, ceiling, floor. These results also explain the fact that the diffusely reflected light can be utilized as the carrier of biotelemetry even after several scattering and reflections.

  • In recent years, there has been increasing use of automatic surveillance and monitoring systems based on vision sensors. Humans are often the most important target in the systems, but processing human images is difficult due to the small sizes and flexible motions. Particularly, occlusion among pedestrians in camera images brings practical problems. In this paper, we propose a novel method to separate image regions of occluded pedestrians. A camera equipped with a wide angle lens is attached to the ceiling of a building corridor for sensing pedestrians with a wide field of view. The output images of the camera are processed for the human detection, tracking, identification, distortion correction, and occlusion handling. We resolve the occlusion problem adaptively depending on the angles and positions of their heads. Experimental results showed that the proposed method is more efficient and accurate compared with existing methods.

  • 생활수준이 향상됨에 따라 인간의 감성을 생활환경에 적용하려는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 감성에 영향을 미치는 요인은 다양하나 이 중에서도 열환경은 인간에게 미치는 정도가 어떠한 요인보다도 큰 것으로 알려져 있다. 열환경이라 함은 온도, 습도, 기류, 복사열을 말하며 이 요소들은 인간의 감성과 밀접한 관련을 지닌다. 실내의 열환경은 공조방식에 따라 크게 달라지며 본 연구에서는 천장분출과 바닥분출 공조방식의 비교실험을 수행하여 실내의 열환경을 평가한다. 두 공조방식을 여름철 사무실 공간을 모사하는 열환경챔버에 적용하여 실내의 온도, 기류, 복사온도, PMV의 분포를 측정한다. 실험 결과 바닥분출 공조방식이 쾌적성과 에너지 절약면에서 우수함을 알 수 있었다.
