We propose a method for increasing the bandwidth of a substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) cavity-backed antenna with taper-based micro-strip SIW transition feeding. For radio transmission, a circular slot is etched on top of the SIW cavity. For optimal antenna design, the slot is etched slightly away from the cavity center to generate circularly polarized waves. Simulations show a wide axial ratio bandwidth of 7.860% between 11.02 GHz and 11.806 GHz. Experimental results confirm a similar wide axial ratio bandwidth of 4.9% between 10.8 GHz and 11.35 GHz. An SIW feed from an inductive window excites the radiating circular slot, resulting in a simulated wide impedance range of 1.548 GHz (10.338 GHz-11.886 GHz) and bandwidth of 13.93%. Experimental results show a wide impedance of 2.08 GHz (10.2 GHz-12.08 GHz) and bandwidth of 18.84%. The SIW cavity-backed antenna creates a unidirectional pattern, leading to gains of 6.61 dBi and 7.594 dBi in simulations and experiments, respectively. The proposed antenna was fabricated on a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate, and the reflection coefficient, radiation patterns, and gains were tested and compared using a computer simulator. The developed broadband antenna seems suitable for X-band applications.

In this paper, we have proposed the new configuration of wideband antenna using CPW fred lines. The proposed antenna has CPW feed lines and U-slot to achieve wade bandwidth with good impedance matching. The use of CPW feed line can decrease the number of substrates. It is compared with the conventional antenna find by a microstrip fled line. The parameters of CPW fred lines were studied by using the quasi-static approximation which is based on the conformal mapping method. The analysis of CPW discontinuities such as the tapered-step structure and the open ended gap were studied by using the quasi-static approximation which is based on the boundary element method. Also, the equivalent circuit model of multi-layer antenna were proposed using the cavity model. Experiment results of the proposed antenna 7how wide-bandwidth characteristics and good radiation patterns in passband.
In this paper, we have proposed low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) based packaging for RF MEMS devices. The packaging structure is designed and evaluated with 3D full field simulation. 50 ${\Omega}$ matched coplanar waveguide(CPW) transmission line is employed as the test vehicle to evaluate the performances of the proposed package structure. The line is encapsulated with the LTCC packaging lid and connected to the via feed line. To reduce the insertion loss due to the packaging lid, the cavity with via post is formed in the packaging lid. The performances of the package structure is simulated with the different cavity depth and via-to-via length. Simulation results show that the proposed package structure has reflection loss better than 20 dB and insertion loss lower than 0.1 dB from DC to 30 GHz with the cavity depth and via-to-via length of 300 ${\mu}m$ and 350 ${\mu}m$, respectively. To realize the designed package structure, the cavity patterning is tested using the sandblast of LTCC.

In this paper, a cavity back slot antenna with a rotated rectangular patch is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a ground plane with cavity structure, a microstrip feed line, and a rectangular patch with slot. With a dimension of $55mm{\times}40mm{\times}10mm$, the proposed antenna has the wide bandwidth due to the cavity structure. Measured 10 dB return loss bandwidth and fractional bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 5,030 MHz(3.02~8.05 GHz) and 90.9 % at the center frequency of 5.05 GHz. The proposed antenna is designed and simulated using ANSYS HFSS v.15.0.0. The designed antenna is fabricated and tested to validate its performances.

In this paper, a 0.6~6GHz quad-ridge horn antenna which can be used for the antenna measurement of 5.8GHz WiFi system from lowest frequency band of mobile LTE (Long Term Evolution) is designed and implemented. The quad-ridge horn antenna has quadruple ridges of exponential function, a back-short and a cavity. Based on this structure, we design the cavity size, ridge gap and feed gap to have broadband characteristics. For implementation, the plates material of aluminum and copper are used for the horn and four ridges, respectively. And the insulator supports are used to maintain the gap between ridges. By measurement, antenna has the gain of 6.2~13.35dBi with the return loss of less than -6dB (under VSWR 3 : 1) in the entire design band. The results of this study can be widely used to the antenna studies on the mobile communication including low frequency band of LTE, the EMI measurement and the standard calibration measurement.

In this paper, the input impedance of coaxial fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna located inside rectangular waveguide is calculated by using the cavity model and the mode excited in the waveguide by the patch antenna. The return loss and efficiency of the patch antennas as a function of feed position in. free space and in waveguide are calculated and compared. The maximum efficiency of the antennas in waveguide and in free space are obtained at different feed position.
In this paper, a rectangular waveguide probe with a ridge-loaded straight slot (RLSS) is presented for a near-field scanning microwave microscope (NSMM). The RLSS is located laterally at the end wall of the cavity and is loaded on double ridges in a narrow straight slot to improve the spatial resolution compared with a straight slot. The probe consists of a rectangular cavity with an RLSS and a feed section of a WR-90 rectangular waveguide. When the proposed NSMM is located at distance of 0.1mm in front of a substrate without patches or strips, the simulated full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the probe improve by approximately 31.5 % compared with that of a straight slot without ridges. One dimensional scanning of the E-plane on a sample under test was conducted, and the reflection coefficient of the near-field scanning probe is presented.

A hybrid finite element method is presented for a characterization of scattering an radiation properties of microstrip patch and arrays residing in a cavity recessed in a ground plane. The technique combines the finite element and boundary integral methods to formulate a system for the solution of fields at the aperture and the scattering field and radar cross sections at free space. By virture of the finite element method, the proposed technique is applicable to patch antennas and arrays residing on or embeded in a layered dielectric loss/lossless substrate and is also capable of treating various feed configuration. Several numerical results are presented demonstrating the validity, efficiency and capability of the technique.

This study was conducted to investigate effect of ionic strength and feeding times of a nutrient solution on reduction of stem cavity size and improvement of flower quality in chrysanthemum 'Baekma'. A nutrient solution was applied with different strengths at three stages, namely, transplanting, budding, and flowering. The solution EC was adjusted as 1.61.82.0, 1.81.81.8, 1.82.01.8, and $2.02.02.0dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$ in four treatments. Feeding frequency per a day were 4 times for 12 min., 8 times for 6 min., 12 times for 4 min., and 18 times for 2.7 min. each. Cut flower length as affected by different strengths of a nutrient solution was the greatest in the plot of EC $2.02.02.0dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$. However number of leaves, stem diameter, and leaf size were greater in EC $1.82.01.8dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$ than in other treatments. Also, petal number of petals was the greatest and stem cavity size was the smallest in the plot of EC $1.81.81.8dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$. Plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf size were greater in the plot with 12 times feed ing per a day. number of petal was most in the plot with 8 times feeding per day, while stem cavity size was the smallest in the plot with 12 times feed ing per a day. Therefore, the better plant growth, the smaller stem cavity size.

The needs of ultra-precisely machined parts are increasing more and more. But the experimental data required to ultra precision machining of nonferrous metal is insufficient. The behavior of cutting in micro cutting area is different from that of traditional cutting because of the size effect. Copper is widely used as optical parts such as LASER reflector's mirror and multimedia instrument. In experimental, after oxygen-free copper is machined by ultra precision machine with natural mono crystal diamond tool (NCD) and synthetic poly crystal diamond tool (PCD), we compared chip formation and tool's wear according to used tool. Also, we researched optimized cutting condition with the results measured according to cutting condition such as spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut. As a result, the optimal working condition that makes good surface roughness is obtained. The surface roughness is good when spindle speed is above 80 m/min, and feed rate is small and depth of cut is above 0.5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. In cutting of klystron anode and cavity 3.2 nmRa of surface roughness is obtained.
