파라메트릭 기법을 고속 단동선의 NURBS 모델링 (Construction of NURBS Model for Preliminary High-Speed Monohull Design Based on Parametric Approach)

  • An approach to model a high-speed monohull vessel is introduced. The high-speed monohull form belonging to the category of multihull is drawing new attention, due to the rapidly growing trend of fast passenger ships and military purpose. Multihull forms are much thinner in their overall shape, compared to those of the conventional commercial vessels. Moreover, the parent hull forms are not readily obtainable when a new design is intended, which makes it hard to perform various technical calculations in terms of hull optimization, hydrodynamic computation, structural design, and so forth. In this paper, a parametric technique is used to design a high-speed hull form. To model a hull form, NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) representation is used. The goal of research is to provide a fast and convenient tool to design an initial hull form with fewer parameters available in the early design stage. The technique employed in this paper will be applied to the design of multihull forms, such as catamaran, trimaran, and semi-swath.

  • A Mobile Harbor is a new transportation platform which can load and unload has containers to and from very large container ships on the sea. Currently designed Mobile Harbor a catamaran type which is equipped with precisely controlled gantry crane on the deck, and can transport 250 TEUs at a time. Loading and unloading works by crane require very small motion of Mobile Harbor in waves, because it may be operated outside of harbors. In this project, applicability of both tuned-type anti-rolling tank and maglev-type active mass driver is studied as anti-rolling systems.

  • Recently, there are several problems in space, contiguity and facility of the existing harbors issued due to the trend of enlarging the container capacity of the large container vessel, the Mobile Harbor has been proposed conceptually as an effective solution for those problems. This concept is a kind of transfer loader of the containers from the large container ship, which is a floating barge with a catamaran type in the underwater part, and so prompt maneuverability and work effectiveness. For the safe mooring of two floating bodies, a container and the mobile harbor, in the near sea apart from the quay, a robot arm mooring facility specially devised would be designed and verified through comparison study under various environmental sea condition in the inner and outer harbor. DP system (Dynamic Positioning System) using the azimuth thruster and a pneumatic fender, etc, will be considered as a next research topic for the mooring security of multi-body floaters.

Navigation safety domain and collision risk index for decision support of collision avoidance of USVs

  • This paper proposes a decision support model for USVs to improve the accuracy of collision avoidance decision-making. It is formed by Navigation Safety Domain (NSD) and domain-based Collision Risk Index (CRI), capable of determining the collision stage and risk between multiple ships. The NSD is composed of a warning domain and a forbidden domain, which is constructed under the constraints of COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea). The proposed domain based CRI takes the radius of NSD in various encounter situations as threshold parameters. It is found that the value of collision risk in any directions can be calculated, including actual value and risk threshold. A catamaran USV and 6 given vessels are taken as study objects to validate the proposed model. It is found that the judgment of collision stage is accurate and the azimuth range of risk exists can be detected, hence the ships can take direct and effective collision avoidance measures. According to the relation between the actual value of CRI and risk threshold, the decision support rules are summarized, and the specific terms of COLREGs to be followed in each encounter situation are given.

파랑중 컨테이너선과 하역선의 연결장치에 작용하는 하중계산 (Loads of a Rigid Link Connecting a Container Ship and a Catamaran Type Container Offloading Vessel in Waves)

  • 해양파 중에서 2개 선체가 가까운 거리에 계류되어있는 경우에 2선체의 운동을 엄밀한 파 중 2 부유체 운동이론에 의하여 계산하였다. 2 선체의 방사 및 산란파 포텐셜은 특이파 수 현상이 없는 주파수영역 Improved Green 적분방 정식으로부터 구하였다. 규칙파 중에서 근접한 2선체가 서로 연결되지 않은 경우와 강체 연결장치로 병렬 계류된 된 경우의 운동 및 강체연결체에 작용하는 6방향 힘과 모오멘트를 해석하는 기법과 수치실험 결과도 보였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 연안의 해저면에 누적된 퇴적오염물을 효율적으로 수거할 수 있는 저속 쌍동형 정화선에 대한 선수선형의 개념설계에 대해 수행하였다. 선형설계는 선체건조가 용이하도록 단순화하였으며, 쌍동선 선형의 선수 Water line, 선수각 등의 변화에 따른 저항성능의 영향을 검토하였다. Ansys CFX를 이용한 수치시뮬레이션과 회류수조에서의 모형시험결과와의 비교/분석 등을 통하여 선수부 선형변화에 따른 저항성능과 자유표면 유동특성 사이의 관계를 고찰하였으며, 그 결과 선수재 위치와 어깨부 체적의 선수부 이동에 따른 파형개선으로 조파저항이 감소하는 등 저항성능의 향상을 확인하였다.

Design, Development and Testing of the Modular Unmanned Surface Vehicle Platform for Marine Waste Detection

  • Mobile robots are used for years as a valuable research and educational tool in form of available open-platform designs and Do-It-Yourself kits. Rapid development and costs reduction of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) and ground based mobile robots in recent years allowed researchers to utilize them as an affordable research platform. Despite of recent developments in the area of ground and airborne robotics, only few examples of Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) platforms targeted for research purposes can be found. Aim of this paper is to present the development of open-design USV drone with integrated multi-level control hardware architecture. Proposed catamaran - type water surface drone enables direct control over wireless radio link, separate development of algorithms for optimal propulsion control, navigation and communication with the ground-based control station. Whole design is highly modular, where each component can be replaced or modified according to desired task, payload or environmental conditions. Developed USV is planned to be utilized as a part of the system for detection and identification of marine and lake waste. Cameras mounted to the USV would record sea or lake surfaces, and recorded video sequences and images would be processed by state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning algorithms in order to identify and classify marine and lake waste.

연안 항해용 스틸 쌍동 차도선의 경량화 모델 및 구조안전성 평가 (Assessment of the Structural Safety for Light-Weight Steel Twin Car-Ferry for Coastal Voyage)

  • 본 논문에서는 도서 지역 화물 및 승객 운송을 맡은 연안 항해용 친환경 차도선을 개발하면서, 검토된 주요 결과들에 대해서 논의한다. 시장에서의 경제성을 확보하기 위하여, 폭 19 m를 최종 개발모델 및 갑판면적에 많은 차량이 배치되도록 고려하였다. 조파저항 감소를 위해 선형 형상은 "V"에 선수벌수를 접목하였으며, 수치해석을 통해 개발 선박의 유체역학적 성능을 확인하였다. 선가를 직접 결정짓는 선각 중량을 감소하기 위하여, 최적화 전문 프로그램에 내재된 다목적 최적화 방법인 파레토 시뮬레이트 어닐링을 활용하여 약 3.9 %의 중량 절감을 달성하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 도출된 주요 결과들은 추후 쌍동형 차도선 관련 연구를 수행하는 엔지니어와 관련 산업에 좋은 선례가 될 것으로 기대한다.

실선 계측에 의한 수중익 강도 평가 (Evaluation of Foil Strength by Full Scale Strain Measurement)

  • 장거리 고속 수중익 쌍동 여객선의 실선 시운전중에 실시한 응력 계측과 분석방법에 대하여 기술하고자 한다. 고속 쌍동선에 설치된 수중익의 중앙부 스트럿부재에 응력 게이지를 부착하여 항해중인 선체에 작용하는 양력과 파랑 변동하중에 의하여 나타나는 수중익 응력을 계측하였으며 이로부터 수중익의 부재력과 수중익에 작용하는 동적하중을 평가하였다. 계측된 수중익 응력의 크기 성분 분포로부터 선박의 예정 취항 해역에서 선박의 수명 동안 나타날 수 있는 최대 기대 응력값과 수중익 양력을 장 단기 해석을 수행하여 추정하였다. 본 계측의 분석에서 채택한 장 단기 해석에서는 서로 유사한 결과를 얻을 수 있었으며 추정된 수중익의 최대 기대 응력값을 수중익 재료의 항복응력과 비교하므로서 본 쌍동선 수중익 구조의 안전성을 검증하고 최대 기대 수중익 양력을 설계에 적용된 하중변수와 비교하므로서 설계 과정에서 채택한 하중 연수의 타당성을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 계측 방법과 데이타 분석 과정은 실선계측 자료를 효과적으로 설계에 활용할 수 있게 한다.

해저자원(海底資源) 개발용(開發用) Semi-Submersible 설계기준(設計基準)의 정립(定立)을 위한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Establishment of Basic Design Concept for Semi-Submersibles)

  • In this paper design criteria for semi-submersibles, effective at the stage of basic design, are reviewed first generally. Thereafter an extensive study is focussed on essential problematic areas such as design load, heaving motion, overall structural analysis and welding technique. The necessity for this kind of research is apparent in the light of the fact that ocean exploration and exploitation becomes extended to deeper ocean and that semi-submersibles are the most favorite unit for operation under this environment. In some sense principles in naval architecture are indeed applicable to the design of semi-submersible. However, because of the difference in geometry between ships and semi-submersibles, there are significant deviations in design method. A thorough discussion is made on particular behaviours of a semi-submersible in stability, wave load, motion characteristics and structural responses. Then some calculation-procedures and design guidelines are tentatively proposed. A numerical calculation for a semi-submersible Sedco 708 is exemplified for better understanding of the concept. The structure has 4 main and another 4 secondary stabilizing columns with catamaran-type lower hull. In this example design condition is supposed to be 28m wave height, 90 knots wind speed for survival condition and seastate 6 for operational condition in water of 100m depth. The numerical result implies that the actual design of this model can be assessed close to optimum. Further intensive research is strongly required in the subject fields of dynamic stability, rational evaluation of wave load statistical basis for fatigue life judgement.
