천연가스자동차 촉매의 온도분포 및 배기정화 특성 (Temperature and exhaust gas conversion efficiency of catalytic converters for natural gas vehicles)

  • Experiments were conducted to investigate the temperature profile and the emissions conversion efficiency of catalytic converters for natural gas vehicles. Two types of the catalyst structure and several transient engine operating conditions were used. The dual-bed catalyst effectively reduced the emissions in a transient period due to the low heat capacity of the front bed. The lanthanoid additives were effective in improving catalyst durability. When the natural gas fueled engine were operated outside of a very narrow window of excess air ratio (from 0.993 to 1.004), the HC and NOx conversion efficiency dropped off. The drop-off were especially fast on the lean side of the window.

Estimation of VOCs Emissions from Small-Scale Surface Coating Facilities in Seoul

  • Purpose: VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are all the organic compounds that react with solar rays and increase the concentration of ozone in the troposphere and are partially also known as carcinogens. The adsorption using activated carbon is usually applied to remove VOCs. Research design, data and methodology: The 20 places of surface coating facilities were selected to evaluate the emission amount of VOCs in Seoul. In addition, the removal efficiency of VOCs in 25 places of automobile coating facilities was evaluated. Results: The average emission amount of VOCs was 10.903 kg/hr from automobile coating facilities, while 3.520 kg/hr from other surface coating facilities. The removal efficiency in adsorption with the combustion catalytic process has the mean value of 87.9% and the regeneration efficiency of activated carbon has the mean value of 95.0%. Conclusions: The removal efficiency in adsorption with the biofiltration process has the mean value of 89.8% and the regeneration efficiency of activated carbon has the mean value of 94.8%. The removal efficiency in the plasma catalyst process has the mean value of 79.3%.

열 방출률에 대한 마이크로 백금 촉매 연소기의 치수 설계 기준 (Design Criterion for the Size of Micro-scale Pt-catalytic Combustor in Respect of Heat Release Rate)

  • Design criterion for the size of micro Pt-catalytic combustor is investigated in terms of heat release rate. One-dimensional plug flow model is applied to determine the surface reaction constants using the experimental data at stoichiometric butane-air mixture. With these reaction constants, the mass fraction of butane and heat release rate predicted by the plug flow model are in good agreement with the experimental data at the combustor exit. The relationship between the size of micro catalytic combustor and mixture flowrate is introduced in the form of product of two terms-the effect of fuel conversion efficiency, and the effect of chemical reaction rate and mass transfer rate.

  • The transition metal-induced in situ generation of carbene complexes from alkynes having a carbonyl or imino group as a nucleophilic functionality has been investigated. These reactive carbenoid species are generated with high atom efficiency through a 6-endo-dig cyclization mode based on the electrocyclization of vinylidene complexes or a 5-exo-dig cyclization mode in π-alkyne complexes, and have been found to serve as versatile intermediates in catalytic carbene transfer reactions. Highlighted and reviewed in this account are the generation and preparation of pyranylidene, furylcarbene, pyrrolylcarbene, and vinylcarbene complexes and their application to [3,3]sigmatropic rearrangement of acylcyclopropylvinylidenes, catalytic cyclopropanation reactions, [2,3]sigmatropic rearrangement or condensation reactions via ylides, ring-opening and substitution reactions with heteroaromatic compounds, and catalytic isomerization of oligoynes.

  • A two-step fuel-rich/fuel-lean catalytic combustion seems to be one of the most effective methods to control simultaneously the NO generation and the hydrocarbon (HC) conversion from fuel-bound nitrogen. By controlling equivalent air ratio for maintaining fuel-rich and fuel-lean condition over each catalytic layer, space velocity, inlet temperature, and catalyst component, the HCand ammonia conversion efficiency higher than 95% could be achieved, with ammonia conversion to NO remaining below 5%. The experimental results wouldbe applied to the combustion of land fill gas and to gasified refuse-derived fuels as a method of minimizing NO generation.

  • Fullerene oxide[$C_{60}(O)_n$, ($n{\geq}1$)] was synthesized by dissolving fullerene[$C_{60}$] and 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid in toluene under refluxing condition for 5 h. Hybrid fullerene oxide-silver nanoparticle composites were synthesized by dissolving fullerene oxide and silver nitrate[$AgNO_3$] in diethylene glycol under ultrasonic irradiation for 3 h. The synthesized hybrid nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet-visible[UV-vis] spectroscopy. The catalytic activity for the reduction of various nitroanilines[NAs] was identified by UV-vis spectrophotometer. The efficiency of the catalytic reduction by the synthesized hybrid nanocomposites has an order of 4-NA > 2-NA > 3-NA.

NO 산화를 위한 Mn계 촉매상 과산화수소 분해를 이용한 건식산화제 생성 (Production of Dry Oxidant through Catalytic H2O2 Decomposition over Mn-based Catalysts for NO Oxidation)

  • 본 연구에서는 배가스 내 존재하는 비교적 처리가 어려운 오염물질인 NO 기체에 대하여 처리효율을 증대시키기 위하여 NO 산화공정이 필요하며, 이에 필요한 건식산화제를 제조하는 방법으로 H2O2 촉매분해가 도입되었다. H2O2 분해공정 상에서 적용 가능한 촉매로서 다양한 Mn 기반의 불균일계 고체 산 촉매들이 제조되었으며, 이들이 지니는 물리화학적 특성이 주로 H2O2 분해반응에 미치는 영향이 조사되었다. 그 결과, Mn 기반의 고체산 촉매들이 지니는 산점 특성이 H2O2 촉매분해에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었으며, 산점이 낮은 온도영역에서 많은 양의 산점의 특성을 지니는 촉매가 H2O2 분해반응에서 가장 높은 성능을 나타냄과 동시에 제조된 건식산화제로 인해 높은 NO 산화율을 나타내었다. 대표적인 결과로서 K 성분이 첨가된 Mn 기반의 Fe2O3 지지체 촉매가 적용될 경우, 가장 높은 H2O2 분해효율과 더불어 가장 높은 NO 전환율을 나타내었다.

촉매 변환기의 내부 유동장 측정-CFD 해석과 비교 (Flow Field Measurement in Catalytic Converter-Comparison with Computational Fluid Dynamics Analyses)

  • 촉매 변환기의 효율은 촉매 물질이 포함되어 있는 하니콤 브릭 입구의 유동장 분포와 밀접한 관계가 있다. 하니콤 브릭 표면의 유동장 분포가 균일하지 않으면 시스템의 전환 효율이 감소하고 균일한 유동장 분포를 갖는 촉매 변환기에 비해 크기가 커져 제작비용도 증가한다. 따라서 촉매 변환기의 내부유동 해석은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 변환기 내부 하니콤 브릭 사이부분과 2번째 하니콤 브릭 출구부분의 유동분포를 단축을 따라 37.8 l/s와 94.4 l/s 유동영역에서 측정하였다. 또한, 자동차 제작사에서 이루어진 전산해석 결과를 측정 결과와 비교하여 실험적으로 검증하였다. 하니콤 브릭 사이부분의 ${\upsilon}$-속도분포 측정은 다소 변화하는 유동패턴이 형성되는 것을 보여주지만 입구 반대쪽 벽 부근영역에서 음의 유동장이 형성되고 음의 속도는 감소하여 중심 부근에서는 정체현상을 보이고 계속 입구 쪽까지 지속되는 것을 보여준다. 대부분의 속도 값에서 전산해석 결과는 측정치에 비하여 크게 나타났다.
