In order to improve the stability of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ on hydrolysis of $SF_6$, the catalytic promoters were investigated in this study. The crystal phase of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ is transformed to their ${\alpha}$-phase during hydrolysis of $SF_6$. Various metal oxides were applied as the promoter material that is Ga, Mg, and Zn and the promoter of 1, 5, and 10 wt% was impregnated over ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ by the impregnation method. Specially, it were confirmed in the catalytic activity tests and XRD analysis that ZnO/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst had the high activity for decomposition of $SF_6$ by catalytic hydrolysis and the crystal phase of ZnO promoted ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ was not transformed. From these results, it could be known that the stability of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ is enhanced with the catalytic promotion of ZnO impregnated over the surface of catalyst.

HI decomposition reaction requires a catalyst for the efficient production of hydrogen as a key reaction for hydrogen production in sulfur-iodine thermochemical water-splitting (SI) cycle. As a catalyst used in the reaction, the performance of platinum catalyst is excellent. While, the platinum catalyst is not economical. Therefore, studies of a nickel catalyst that could replace platinum have been carried out. In this study, the characteristics of the catalytic HI decomposition on the amount of loaded nickel (Ni = 0.1, 0.5, 1, 3, 5, 10 wt%) were investigated. As the supported Ni amount increased up to 3 wt%, HI decomposition was found to increase in linear proportion. However, the conversion of $Ni/Al_2O_3$ catalyst loaded above 3 wt% was not linear. It was thought that the different HI decomposition characteristics was caused in the size and metal dispersion of Ni particles of catalyst. The physical property of catalyst before and after HI decomposition reaction was characterized by BET, chemisorption, XRD and SEM analysis.
This work was carried out ozone generation and TCE decomposition characteristics using dielectric ball materials filled barrier discharge reactor and catalyst's reactor for ozone decomposition. Ozone concentration generated from $Al_2O_3$ or $TiO_2$ filled barrier discharge reactor was so high compared with non-filled discharge reactor. This reactor is good discharge structure for generating the high ozone concentration. In addition, TCE decomposition rate and COx conversion rate increased using $MnO_2$ filled discharge reactor, because ozone was decomposed at the same discharge space on the surface of $MnO_2$ catalysts. To identify the $MnO_2$ catalytic effects, TCE decomposition rate reached to 100[%] by the decomposition of ozone at $MnO_2$ catalyst's reactor by the arrangement of $Al_2O_3$ filled discharge reactor and $MnO_2$ catalyst reactor. Finally, $MnO_2$ catalyst is good materials for the decomposition of ozone and this process will be useful for decomposing VOCs such as TCE.

This work is investigated for the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen iodide (HI). Platinum was used as active material by loading on $ZrO_2-SiO_2$ mixed oxide in HI decomposition reaction. To obtain high and stable conversion of hydrogen iodide in severe condition, it was required to improve catalytic activity. For this reason, a method increasing dispersion of platinum was proposed in this study. In order to get high dispersion of platinum, zirconia was incorporated in silica by sol-gel synthesis. Incorporating zirconia influence increasing platinum dispersion and BET surface area as well as decreasing deactivation of catalysts. It should be able to stably product hydrogen for a long time because of inhibitive deactivation. HI decomposition reaction was carried out under the condition of $450^{\circ}C$ and 1 atm in a fixed bed reactor. Catalysts analysis methods such as $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, ICP-AES and CO gas chemisorption were used to measurement of their physico-chemical properties.

In this study, we investigated the conversion performance of de-NOx catalyst for lean-burn natural gas engine. As a de-NOx catalyst, NOx storage reduction catalyst was composed of Pt, Pd and Rh with washcoat including Ba and Ni, Ru-ZSM-5. Ni, Ru-ZSM-5, which was regarded as a NOx direct decomposition catalyst, was made up of ion exchanged ZSM-5 by 5wt.% Ni or Ru. The performance of de-NOx catalyst was evaluated by NOx storage capacity and catalytic reduction in air/fuel, $\lambda=1.6$. The catalytic reaction was also observed when the added fuel was supplied to fuel rich atmosphere by fuel spike period of 5 seconds. The NOx conversion of the catalysts with Ni-ZSM-5 or Ru-ZSM-5 was mainly caused by the effect of NOx adsorption of Ba rather than the catalytic reduction of Ni, Ru-ZSM-5. Ni, Ru-ZSM-5 catalysts can not use for the NSR catalyst because they have quick process in thermal deactivation.
The carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were synthesized through the catalytic decomposition of hydrocarbons in a quartz tube reactor. The CNFs prepared from $C_3H_8$ at $550^{\circ}C$ was selected as the purification sample due to the higher content of impurity than that prepared from other conditions. In this study, we carried out the purification of CNFs by oxidation in air or carbon dioxide after acid treatment, and investigated the influence of purification parameters such as kind of acid, concentration, oxidation time, and oxidation temperature on the structure of CNFs. The metal catalysts could be easily eliminated from the prepared CNFs by liquid phase purification with various acids and it was verified by ICP analysis, in which, for example, Ni content decreased from 2.51% to 0.18% with 8% nitric acid. However, the particulate carbon and heterogeneous fibers were not removed from the prepared CNFs by thermal oxidation in air and carbon dioxide. This result can be explained by that the direction of graphene sheet in CNFs is vertical to the fiber axis and the CNFs are oxidized at about the similar rate with the impurity carbon.

The green synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) using biomaterials has garnered considerable attention in recent years because of its eco-friendly, non-toxic, simple, and low-cost nature. In this study, we synthesized NPs of noble metals, such as Ag and Au using an aqueous extract of a marine seaweed, Ecklonia cava. The formation of AgNPs and AuNPs was confirmed by the presence of surface plasmon resonance peaks in UV-Vis absorption spectra at approximately 430 and 530 nm, respectively. Various properties of the NPs were evaluated using characterization techniques, such as dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Phytochemicals in the seaweed extract, such as phlorotannins, acted as both reducing and stabilizing agents for the growth of the NPs. The green-synthesized AgNPs and AuNPs were found to exhibit high catalytic activity for the decomposition of organic dyes, including azo dyes, methylene blue, rhodamine B, and methyl orange.
Hematite iron oxide (${\alpha}$-$Fe_2O_3$) nanowalls were fabricated on aluminum substrate by a facile solvent-assisted hydrothermal oxidation process. The XRD and EDS patterns indicate that the sample has a rhombohedral phase of hematite $Fe_2O_3$. FE-SEM, TEM, HR-TEM, SA-ED were employed to characterize the resulting materials. $N_2$ adsorption-desorption isotherms was used to study a BET surface area. Their capability of catalytic degradation of titan yellow GR azo dye with air oxygen in aqueous solution over $Fe_2O_3$ catalysts was studied. The result indicates that the as-prepared product has a high catalytic activity, because it has a larger surface area. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms of adsorption dye on the catalysts surface were investigated and the decomposition of titan yellow GR follows pseudo-first order kinetic.
In this study, we successfully prepared CNT/$TiO_2$, Pt/CNT and Pt/CNT/$TiO_2$ composites and investigated their photocatalytic activity in MB solution by irradiation under UV light. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy was used to characterize the functional group on the surface of MWCNTs, which oxidized by MCPBA. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) were used to analyze the prepared composites. The results of the decomposition of the MB solution indicated that the Pt/CNT/$TiO_2$ composite had the best photocatalytic activity among the three kinds of composites.

This study has been focused on NO conversion for metal-incorporated silicates(Fe-silicate, Mn-silicate, and Fe-Mn-bimetallosilicate) with a similar MFI type. Used metallosilicates were prepared by the rapid crystallization method. Their catalytic performance for the conversion of NO under excess O2(10%) condition with the addition of hydrocarbon of low concentration(1,100ppm n-C8H18) were investigated. As a result, the NO conversion on the Fe-Mn-bimetallosilicate was enhanced compared with on the Fe- or Mn-silicates. Furthermore, the performances for NO concentration on Fe-Mn-bimetallosilicate more increased with an increased in n-C8H18 concentration, a decrease in NO concentration, and an increase in O2 concentration.
