공정 Al-Si 합금의 개량처리와 주단조에 의한 조직변화에 관한 연구 (Study on the Microstructural Changes with Modification and Cast-forging in Eutectic Al-Si Alloys)

  • Recently, many studies have been carried out to process on the purpose of lightness in a transport parts because of the saving energy, the environmental problem. The cast-forging process can be expected to lower costs without decreasing the mechanical properties. So, the finest microstructure is needed to get for applying the cast-forging process with Al-Si alloy because the microstructure affects to the cast-forging process. For refinement treatment of eutectic Si and Al solid-solution phase, Sr and TiB were added in Al-Si alloys. The finest microstructure could be observed when 0.075 wt.%Sr and 0.1 wt.%TiB were added respectively. In this case, tensile strength and elongation much more increased than as casting. After high temperature deformation simulation test with grain refinement specimens was carried out, about 70N per unit $area(mm^2)$ of specimen was confirmed. After hot forging, tensile strength and elongation were increased. It was considered because casting defect was removed by compressive working.

  • Ultrasonic inspection of heavy walled cast austenitic stainless steel(CASS)welds is very difficult due to complex and coarse grained structure of CASS material. The large size of anisotropic grain strongly affects the propagation of ultrasound by severe attenuation, change in velocity, and scattering of ultrasonic energy. therefore, the signal patterns originated from flaws can be difficult to distinguish from scattered signals. To improve detection and sizing capability of ID connected defect for heavy walled CASS piping welds, the low frequency segmented TRL Pulse Echo and Phased Array probe has been developed. The experimental studies have been performed using CASS pipe mock-up block containing artificial reflectors(ID connected EDM notch). The automatic pulse echo and phase array technique is applied the detection and the length sizing of the ID connected artificial reflectors and the results for detection and sizing has been compared respectively. The goal of this study is to assess a newly developed ultrasonic probe to improve the detection ability and the sizing of the crack in coarse-grained CASS components.

A356 합금 시편의 수축공 결함형상에 대한 피로해석용 형상 모델링 방법 (On Shrinkage Cavities Shape Modeling for Fatigue Simulation of A356 Alloy Specimen)

  • During the casting process, it is possible to minimize shrinkage and blowholes by modifying the casting design. However, it is impossible to eliminate these factors completely. Therefore, mechanical design engineers apply a sufficient safety factor owing to the possibility of insufficient performances of the cast products. In this paper, prediction method of the fatigue life of cast products containing shrinkage is conducted by using CT (computed tomography) and the SSM (shape simplification method), and additional fatigue analyses are carried out. The analysis results are then compared to results from actual experiments on samples with shrinkage defects. It is found to be that the considering actual shrinkage in cast products by means of stress and fatigue analyses is more accurate and effective. It is also considered that the proposed hot spot method provides us a good tool to predict the fatigue lifes of cast product.

  • Partial squeeze die casting is a special die casting process which combines squeeze technique to conventional die casting. The influence of squeeze pressure $(1500-3000kg/cm^2)$ and time-lags(0.5-2.0sec) on defect control, density and microstructure of ADC12 alloy die casts has been studied by appling partial squeeze die casting to air compressure front housing production. Defect free, maximum density of $2.736kg/cm^3$ with sound microstructure of ADC12 alloy die cast has been obtained by partial squeeze die casting technique at the pressure of $2000-2500kg/cm^2$ and time-lags of 1.0-2.0sec.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 콘센트용 아크로 플레이트공정의 불량률을 줄이고 생산공정 개선을 통하여 생산성 향상시키는데 있다. 사출과정에서 사출시 온도와 압력에 대한 실험계획으로 최적의 조건을 찾아내고 아크로 플레이트 금형 개선을 하여 생산성을 향상시켰다. 본 연구에서는 사이클 타임은 70초에서 51초 줄었고 불량률은 20%에서 0.5%로 감소하였으며 생산원가 240원에서 201원으로 절감 효과를 가져왔다.

  • 다양한 기계가공 결함을 유기한 공칭 외경 100mm의 덕타일 주철관을 대상으로 원거리장 와전류 검사를 수행하였다. 상수도 배수관으로 사용되는 주철관은 제조 단계의 큰 허용 오차 때문에 두께가 일정하지 않고 단면이 비대칭적인 특징을 지니므로, 원거리장 와전류 탐상 신호에는 배관 축방향에 걸친 장범위 잡음이 존재하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 장범위에 걸친 배경잡음을 효과적으로 제거하기 위하여 이동구간 평균법을 응용하였고, 결함의 깊이와 원주방향 정도를 정량적으로 평가하기 위하여 voltage plane 극좌표 (VPPP) 방법을 활용하였다. 이동구간 평균처리로서 신호비를 일차적으로 향상시킨 다음 VPPP 기법을 이용하여 결함신호를 얻은 결과, 결함신호가 VPPP상의 기준점에서 x 축과 이루는 각이 결함 깊이와 직선적인 상관 관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 배관과 동축으로 놓인 탐촉코일을 이용한 원거리장 와전류 검사로서 매설 상수도 배관 내 외부에 존재하는 부식결함을 비파괴 정량평가할 수 있는 기반을 구축하였다.

브리지 망에서 지원능력을 고려한 스패닝 트리 생성 알고리듬의 성능 분석 (Performance of Capability Aware Spanning Tree Algorithm for Bridged Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 이더넷 브리지와 새로운 동기식 이더넷 포트가 장착된 브리지가 함께 구성된 망에서 각 브리지의 지원능력 별로 다중 트리를 구성하는 알고리듬을 소개하고 성능을 분석하였다. 기존 IEEE 802.1D 규격의 스패닝트리 알고리듬은 브리지의 지원능력을 고려하지 않고 단순히 브리지 식별자를 바탕으로 루트브리지를 선출하여 이를 중심으로 트리를 구성한다. 이는 기존의 이더넷 브리지와 동기식 이더넷 브리지가 함께 구성된 망에서 동기식 이더넷 브리지가 루트브리지로 선출될 경우, 한 수퍼 프레임 내에서 비동기 프레임 전송 구간의 길이가 최소 25%로 규정되어 있는 동기식 이더넷 브리지의 특성상, 비동기 트래픽에 대한 대역 제한으로 인해루트 브리지에서의 큰 지연이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 단순히 브리지 식별자로 단일 트리를 형성하는 기존 스패닝 트리 알고리듬과는 달리, 브리지의 지원 능력 별로 구분되는 2 개의 트리를구성하도록 하여 각 트래픽별 별개의 전송 경로를 제공함으로써 이와 같은 문제를해결하는 CAST 알고리듬을 제안하고 성능을 분석하였다. 모의실험 결과, 제안된CAST 알고리듬의 경우, 높은 트래픽 부하와 경유 브리지 수가 많을수록, 비동기 트래픽의 종단간지연시간이 짧아짐을 확인하였다.

  • For application of cast-forging process with Al-Si alloys, casting experiments are carried out by adding Sr and TiB to Al-Si alloys for grain refinement treatment.   • Large size forged parts usually were made by hot open die forging because of the die cost, high applied load and small manufacturing quantities. Cast ingots were used in open die forging and the ingots almost included the cavities in its inside. Therefore, one of the aims for forging processes is to close and remove the cavities. However, its criteria were well not defined since the studies have many difficulties to investigate the cavity behaviors because of its large size. In this study, the cavity closure behavior was investigated by experimental and FE analysis. The FEM analysis is performed to investigate the overlap defect of cast ingots during free forging stage. The measured flow stress data were used to simulate the forging process of cast ingot using the practical material properties. Also the analysis of cavity closure is performed by using the $DEFORM^{TM}$-3D. The calculated results of cavity closure behavior are compared with the measured results before and after forging, which are scanned by the X-ray scanner. From this result, the criteria for deformation amounts effect on the cavity closure can be investigated by the comparison between practical experiment and numerical analysis.

GC150 회주철의 수축결함생성에 미치는 주조 및 설계공정인자들의 영향 (Effects of Processing and Designing Variables on Formation of Shrinkage Cavities in GC150 Gray Cast Iron)

  • The effect of processing and designing variables such as pouring temperature(1400 or $1500^{\circ}C$), inoculation and risering design(T and H type) on the formation of defects such as external depression, primary and secondary shrinkage cavities in GC150 gray cast iron was investigated. In T type risering design, external depression or primary shrinkage cavity due to liquid contraction was formed in all of the eight cases. Regardless of its modulus value, the riser could not function properly in T type risering design because directional solidification was not promoted toward the riser. On the other hand, the four cases of H type risering design in which thermal sleeves were set onto the risers produced defect-free castings. In both types of the risering designs, secondary shrinkage cavity caused by solidification contraction was not observed in the casting because of the expansion pressure due to graphite precipitation and the application of rigid pep-set mold. The degree of external depression or primary shrinkage cavity was reduced with lowered pouring temperature. The effect of inoculation was diminished because of the high carbon equivalent of GC 150 gray cast iron.
