  • This paper studies the magnetic coupling between two adjacent loop antennas that are parallel to each other in a plane and presents a new practical method to avoid the resulting magnetic coupling interference. The study focuses on the high frequency radio-frequency identification (RFID) system for casino applications, where several loop antennas are closely built into a game table to monitor gaming chips. In this case, neighboring loop antennas may severely interfere with each other by magnetic coupling, which leads to the malfunction of the RFID system. In this paper, we present a practical loop antenna with a new loop switch circuit for avoiding magnetic coupling. The loop switch circuit is integrated with a matching circuit and automatically operated by using an interrogating signal from a reader. We verified the validity of the proposed design by showing that an RFID reader with the proposed antenna can exactly and separately read the gaming chips placed on the different betting zones of a game table.

  • This study developed a National Competency Standard(NCS) regarding the casino operations management based on the manual for developing National Competency Standard of 13 years and a revised classification system chart of the National Competency Standard. For the research method, this study developed a national competency standard of relevant jobs after going through review, consultation, modification, supplementation, and reporting procedures 10 times with development experts of the National Competency Standard, the industrial setting professionals, education and training experts, qualification(job analysis) experts, facilitators, and a working group of job verification committee based on the phased range and DACUM procedure of study. The major development results of this study are as follows. First, this study selected and defined duties based on the revised classification system chart of the National Competency Standard, then drew and developed total 8 ability units based on the applicable duties. Secondly, based on the developed ability units, total 27 ability unit factors were deduced and developed. Thirdly, a standard system by ability unit factor was developed based on the level of the national competency standard and revised classification system chart, then this study deduced and developed a supra-domain of the standard system by competency units using the standard tranquility value by these competency unit factors. Based on such development contents and guidelines for the national competency standard ability unit classification number, this study deduced and developed category numbers by relevant competency unit. Fourthly, total 27 relevant performance standard by competency units and knowledge, skill, and attitude were deduced and developed. Fifthly, this study deduced and developed a scope of application, work situation, evaluation guide, core competency, and development history in reference to the total 8 relevant competency units based on the duties.

  • This study is related with fire risk assessment for occupant of the area adjacent to not enclosed atrium through the computer modeling and application of enhanced fire protection systems depending on the result. Fire scenario is intended to evaluate the impact of a fire from atrium base within the corridor adjacent to the atrium and to compare with egress time depending on the warning system. The major purpose of this study is to figure out fire life safety for occupant adjacent to atrium through the computer simulation and to suggest alternative option in case the occupant safety is not guaranteed.

  • This study aims to analyze the influence of bakery cafes servicescape on customer satisfaction and revisit intention, and to verify the mediating effect of customer satisfaction on the relationship between servicescape and revisit intention. This study targeted 10 bakery cafes located in Seoul, and after asking the persons concerned of the bakery cafes to check understanding, a survey with customers aged 20 or over was conducted over 10 days from March 15th to 24th 2015. A total of 250 self-administered questionnaires were distributed, and 244 questionnaires(97.6%) were used for study analysis after the exclusion of 6 incomplete and unreliable responses. To investigate the demographic characteristics of the respondents, a frequency analysis was carried out; for verification of the reliability and validity of the measuring tools, a reliability analysis and exploratory factor analysis were carried out; and for verification of the research hypotheses, simple and multiple regression analyses as well as a mediation analysis were carried out. All the data required for this study were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 statistic program. The study findings showed that servicescape influenced customer satisfaction and revisit intention, and that Customer satisfaction had a mediating effect. Based on these findings, future marketing strategies and differentiated servicescape application methods for bakery cafes were suggested. Moreover, the limitations of the study and orientation for further research were discussed.

  • One of the fastest growing sectors in tourism industry is the use of applications from the MICE industry in various parts including business, politics, and cultural exchange due to globalization among the countries. The means-end chain theory suggests that convention participants perceive and judge convention destination as the means to achieving a desired end-state in a given destination selection situation. This study aims at establishing a convention destination's attributes, the benefits of consequences of using it, and the personal values it satisfies. A laddering interview was conducting in order to provide in-depth probing and to elicit responses from 96 visitors. This study presents the unique pyramid-structure of the means-end chain; a model linking perceived convention destination attributes to values. Understanding these concepts provides opportunities for convention destinations to target market segmentation and advertising based on the participants' desired end-states. In conclusion, the major correlations of attributions of the visitors, consequences, and the values are; informativeness(A), activity(A), tourist attraction(A) - sympathy(C), human relations(C) - self-development(V), and fellowship(V).
