As a result, the left pulmonary artery (LPA) may be misconceived as the PDA, and ligated. This surgical mishap of other hospital leads to serious congestive heart failure and loss of left lung function due to the underdevelopment in the peripheral vascular and alveolar structures in neonates and premature infants. In this report, 3 cases of LPA ligation and subsequent treatment are presented.

  • The pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor, which is composed of an admixture of carcinomatous and sarcomatous components, and accounts for 0.3% of all pulmonary neoplasms. Clinicopathological features are often related to anatomical location: central endobronchial type and peripheral parenchymal type. Noninvasive diagnostic test had a low yield in detection sarcomatoid carcinoma. Metastasis to the regional lymph nodes and to distant organ is common. The prognosis is poor and the median survival is about 15 months. We report two cases of pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma with review of literatures.

  • Bilateral intralobar and extralobar pulmonary sequestration is an extremely rare anomaly. At present, four pathologically proven cases and two possible cases have been reported in the literature insofar as we know. We have found no previous reports in the literature in which simultaneous bilateral intralobar and extralobar pulmonary sequestration were present. We report a first case presenting as bilateral intralobar and extralobar pulmonary sequestration, recently performed staged bilateral resection, and emphasize the importance of computed tomography and angiography in diagnosis and operation.
