  • In this study, strength reduction factors are investigated for SDOF systems with period range of 0.1-3.0 s with elastoplastic behavior considering soil structure interaction for 64 different earthquake motions recorded on different site conditions such as rock, stiff soil, soft soil and very soft soil. Soil structure interacting systems are modeled and analyzed with effective period, effective damping and effective ductility values differing from fixed-base case. For inelastic time history analyses, Newmark method for step by step time integration was adapted in an in-house computer program. Results are compared with those calculated for fixed-base case. A new equation is proposed for strength reduction factor of interacting system as a function of structural period of system (T), ductility ratio (${\mu}$) and period lengthening ratio (T/T). It is concluded that soil structure interaction reduces the strength reduction factors for soft soils, therefore, using the fixed-base strength reduction factors for interacting systems lead to non-conservative design forces.

  • LMT consisting of 10 landscape elements is one of psychology diagnosis method for inspecting the psychological state of client. In this paper, we make knowledge base accumulating knowledge about LMT landscape elements. By using this knowledge base, we also propose and implement LMT diagnosis assistance system generating LMT inspection report being a result of diagnosis. This proposed system generates diagnosis report based on LMT knowledge base which accumulate knowledge from plenty of reference and research project, that's why we improve the objectivity of diagnosis results. And new knowledge about LMT can be accumulated in knowledge base, so the system proposed in this paper can be extensible continuously. The implementation of system proposed in this paper offers web-based services. To show effectiveness of the system, we diagnose the actual case by using the system, and show the diagnosis result.

  • An efficient operational strategy using expert system for metro water supply systems in case of emergency situations is developed in this study. The emergency situations of the water supply systems are classified into three categories : pipeline system accident, machinery and electric facility accident and water quality accident. A PC-based expert system is developed using CLIPS for Seoul metro water supply system, Phase 1 & 2 system and Phase 3 & 4 system. Broad professional knowledges and experiences from the experts in the water supply systems have been collected systematically to construct the knowledge base. Decision-making in case of an emergency is based upon the professional knowledge so that a rational and efficient operational management can be available even in the absence of experienced expert. Especially the expert model developed in this study also provides a guide for pumping operation in case of pipeline accident to confirm that the proper pressure to all nodes in the system is supplied. The pipe network simulator KYPIPE has been consecutively executed by trial and error fashion for each pipeline in the system. The results from KYPIPE were included in the knowledge base to supplement the knowledge of the field engineers.

  • This paper discusses the design, implementation, and potential use of an ontology-based mobile pediatric consultation and monitoring system, which is a smart healthcare expert system for pediatric patients. The proposed system provides remote consultation and monitoring of pediatric patients during their illness at places distant from medical service areas. The system not only shares instant medical data with a pediatrician but also examines the data as a smart medical assistant to detect any emergency situation. In addition, it uses an inference engine to infer instant suggestions for performing certain initial medical treatment steps when necessary. The applied methodologies and main technical contributions have three aspects: (a) pediatric consultation and monitoring ontology, (b) semantic Web rule knowledge base, and (c) inference engine. Two case studies with real pediatric patients are provided and discussed. The reported results of the applied case studies are promising, and they demonstrate the applicability, effectiveness, and efficiency of the proposed approach.

  • It is necessary to implementation of system contain intelligent decision making algorithm because discriminant and prediction system for Red Tide is insufficient development and the study of red tide are focused for the investigation of chemical and biological causing. In this paper, we designed inference system using case based reasoning method and implemented knowledge base that case for Red Tide. We used K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm for recommend best similar case and input 375 EA by case for Red Tide case base. As a result, conducted 10-fold cross verification for minimal impact from learning data and acquired confidence, we obtained about 84.2% average accuracy for Red Tide case and the best performance results in case by number of similarity classification k is 5. And, we implemented Red Tide monitoring system using inference result.

  • It is a major concern of e-shopping mall managers to satisfy a variety of customer's desire by recommending a proper commodity to the expected purchaser. Customer information like customer's fondness and idiosyncrasy in shopping has not been used effectively for the customers or the suppliers. Conventionally, e-shopping mall managers have recommended specific items of commodities to their customers without considering thoroughly in a customer point of view. This study introduces the ways of a choosing and recommending of commodities for customer themselves or others. A similarity measure between one member's idiosyncrasy and the other members' is developed based on the rule base and the case base. The case base is improved by recognizing and learning the changes of customer's desire and shopping trend.

  • In this paper, we propose the MDBMS(Multi-DataBase Management System) which integrates the LDBMSs(Local DataBase Systems) with heterogeneous environment into distributed system and provides global users with rapidly query process. For designing the MDBMS, we define the functions of components and design the interaction among them. In a point of view of the global view manager in components, we describe the following 3 cases; (1)the case which the results for the global query are all stored to the global view repository, (2)the case which no result exists in the global view repository, and (3)the case which the partial results we stored to the global view repository. By comparing above cases, we establish the functionalities of our MDBMS through the sequence diagram including the interlace of among objects and the method calling. Finally, we propose the model designed in the concrete by showing the executing procedures of each function using sample query on established functions mentioned above.

  • The goal of this research is to develop of an intelligent injection mold process planning system using Case-Based Reasoning. Injection mold process planning is the planning of manufacturing process to produce an injection mold economically and efficiently. Automation of the process planning is required because the problems of handmade scheduling, the difficulty of training experts for process planning, the lack of domain experts, the spread of CAD/CAM system and flexible manufacturing. This research uses Case-Based Reasoning because the injection mold process planning is devised variously and complicatedly, but the process planning of similar injection molds is very similar to each other. The system that is developed by this research uses cases that are collected in a case base when planning the process of new injection mold. New injection mold process planning is devised by retrieving a case that was made from the most similar injection mold. This research presented and composed the cases of injection mold process planning, and devised a method of search and adaptation, and developed an intelligent injection mold process planning system with the experimental results.

  • In this paper, when photovoltaic (PV) systems are connected to power distribution system, most effective capacity and connected-point of PV system are presented considering power distribution system reliability. The reliability model of PV system is presented considering the duration of sunshine. Also the model of time-varying load and reliability test system bus2 model are used. To simulate the effects of PV system, various cases are selected; (1) base case which is no connection of PV system to power distribution system when faults are occurred, (2) 3MW case which is 3[MW] connection of PV system (3) 4[MW] case, and (4) 20[MW] case which is 20[MW] connection of PV system to the bus of power distribution system. The capacity limit of connected PV system is settled to 14[MW] for all cases except case 4. The reliability for residential, general, industrial, and educational customer is evaluated.
