A New Blind Equalization Algorithm with A Stop-and-Go Flag (Stop-and-Go 플래그를 가지는 새로운 블라인드 등화 알고리즘)

  • The CMA and MMA blind equalization algorithm has the inevitable large residual error caused by mismatching between the symbol constellation at a steady state after convergence. Stop-and-Go algorithm has a very superior residual error characteristics at a steady state but a relatively slow convergence characteristics. In this paper, we propose a SAG-Flagged MMA as a new adaptive blind equalization algorithm with a Stop-and-Go flag which follows a flagged MMA in update scheme of tap weights as appling the flag obtaining from Stop-and-Go algorithm to MMA. Using computer simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm has an enhancing performance from the viewpoint of residual ISI, residual error and convergence speed in comparison with MMA and Stop-and-Go algorithm. Algorithm has a new error function using the decided original constellation instead of the reduced constellation. By computer simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm has the performance superiority in terms of residual ISI and convergence speed compared with the adaptive blind equalization algorithm of CMA family, Constant Modulus Algorithm with Carrier Phase Recovery and Modified CMA(MCMA).

A 13.56 MHz Radio Frequency Identification Transponder Analog Front End Using a Dynamically Enabled Digital Phase Locked Loop

  • The analog front end (AFE) of a radio frequency identification transponder using the ISO 14443 type A standard with a 100% amplitude shift keying (ASK) modulation is proposed in this paper and verified by circuit simulations and measurements. This AFE circuit, using a 13.56 MHz carrier frequency, consists of a rectifier, a modulator, a demodulator, a regulator, a power on reset, and a dynamically enabled digital phase locked loop (DPLL). The DPLL, with a charge pump enable circuit, was used to recover the clock of a 100% modulated ASK signal during the pause period. A high voltage lateral double diffused metal-oxide semiconductor transistor was used to protect the rectifier and the clock recovery circuit from high voltages. The proposed AFE was fabricated using the $0.18\;{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process, with an AFE core size of $350\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;230\;{\mu}m$. The measurement results show that the DPLL, using a demodulator output signal, generates a constant 1.695 MHz clock during the pause period of the 100% ASK signal.

  • We have investigated $Al_{x}$ $Ga_{l-x}$ N/GaN epilayers (x = 0.08, 0.15) grown by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy on sapphire with photoluminescence(PL), and persistent photoconductivity(PPC) experiments. An anomalous S-shaped shift behavior of temperature dependencies of PL peak energy is observed for the x = 0.15 sample. In PPC measurement, showed that the dark current recovery time of $Al_{x}$$Ga_{l-x}$ N/GaN epilayers mainly depends on the Al content. These behaviors are usually attributed to the presence of carrier localization states. All these phenomena are explained based on the alloy compositional fluctuations in the $Al_{x}$ /$Ga_{l-x}$ N/ epilayers. The photocurrent quenching observed in PPC measurements for $Al_{x}$ $Ga_{l-x}$ N/ epilayers less than 0.2 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness indicates that the presence of metastable state in the bandgap of GaN layer, and that the excess holes in the valence band recombine with free electrons.

Functionalized Poplar Powder as a Support Material for Immobilization of Enoate Reductase and a Cofactor Regeneration System

  • In this study, functionalized poplar powder (FPP) was used as a support material for the immobilization of enoate reductase (ER) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (GDH) by covalent binding. Under optimal conditions, the immobilization efficiency of ER-FPP and GDH-FPP was 95.1% and 84.7%, and the activity recovery of ER and GDH was 47.5% and 37.8%, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis indicated that FPP was a suitable carrier for enzyme immobilization. ER-FPP and GDH-FPP exhibit excellent thermal stabilities and superior reusability. Especially, ER-FPP and GDH-FPP enable the continuous conversion of 4-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-3-buten-2-one with $NAD^+$ recycling. While the immobilization strategies established here were simple and inexpensive, they exploited a new method for the immobilization and application of ER and its cofactor recycling system.

  • Soccer is type of sport that carries a high risk of injury. Injury is not only cause in the unlucky soccer carrier and also team performance as well as financial effects can be worse since soccer is a team-based game. The duration of recovery from a soccer injury typically relies on its type and severity. Therefore, we conduct this research in order to predict the probability of players injury type using machine learning technologies in this paper. Furthermore, we compare different machine learning models to find the best fit model. This paper utilizes various supervised classification machine learning models, including Decision Tree, Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Naive Bayes. Moreover, based on our finding the KNN and Decision models achieved the highest accuracy rates at 70%, surpassing other models. The Random Forest model followed closely with an accuracy score of 62%. Among the evaluated models, the Naive Bayes model demonstrated the lowest accuracy at 56%. We gathered information about 54 professional soccer players who are playing in the top five European leagues based on their career history.   • The legal labyrinth through which we have just walked is one in which even a highly proficient lawyer could easily become lost. Warsaw Convention's original objective of uniformity of private international aviation liability law has been eroded as the world community ha attempted again to address perceived problems. Efforts to create simplicity and certainty of recovery actually may have created less of both. In any particular case, the issue of which international convention, intercarrier agreement or national law to apply will likely be inconsistent with other decisions. The law has evolved faster for some nations, and slower for others. Under the Warsaw Convention of 1929, strict liability is imposed on the air carrier for damage, loss, or destruction of cargo, luggage, or goods sustained either: (1) during carriage in air, which is comprised of the period during which cargo is 'in charge of the carrier (a) within an aerodrome, (b) on board the aircraft, or (c) in any place if the aircraft lands outside an aerodrome; or (2) as a result of delay. By 2007, 151 nations had ratified the original Warsaw Convention, 136 nations had ratified the Hague Protocol, 84 had ratified the Guadalajara Protocol, and 53 nations had ratified Montreal Protocol No.4, all of which have entered into force. In November 2003, the Montreal Convention of 1999 entered into force. Several airlines have embraced the Montreal Agreement or the IATA Intercarrier Agreements. Only seven nations had ratified the moribund Guatemala City Protocol. Meanwhile, the highly influential U.S. Second Circuit has rendered an opinion that no treaty on the subject was in force at all unless both affected nations had ratified the identical convention, leaving some cases to fall between the cracks into the arena of common law. Moreover, in the United States, a surface transportation movement prior or subsequent to the air movement may, depending upon the facts, be subject to Warsaw, or to common law. At present, International private air law regime can be described as a "situation of utter chaos" in which "even legal advisers and judges are confused." The net result of this barnacle-like layering of international and domestic rules, standards, agreements, and criteria in the elimination of legal simplicity and the substitution in its stead of complexity and commercial uncertainty, which manifestly can not inure to the efficient and economical flow of world trade. All this makes a strong case for universal ratification of the Montreal Convention, which will supersede the Warsaw Convention and its various reformulations. Now that the Montreal Convention has entered into force, the insurance community may press the airlines to embrace it, which in turn may encourage the world's governments to ratify it. Under the Montreal Convention, the common law defence is available to the carrier even when it was not the sole cause of the loss or damage, again making way for the application of comparative fault principle. Hopefully, the recent entry into force of the Montreal Convention of 1999 will re-establish the international legal uniformity the Warsaw Convention of 1929 sought to achieve, though far a transitional period at least, the courts of different nations will be applying different legal regimes.

Fungicidal Efficacy of a Fumigation Disinfectant with Ortho-phenylphenol as an Active Ingredient against Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger (Ortho-phenylphenol을 주성분을 하는 훈증소독제의 Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Candida albicans 그리고 Aspergillus niger에 대한 살진균 효과)

  • Objectives: This study evaluated the fungicidal efficacy of a fumigant containing 20% ortho-phenylphenol against Trichophytone mentagrophytes (T. mentagrophytes), Candida albicans (C. albicans) and Aspergillus niger (A. niger). Methods: Five replicates of each carrier were contaminated by depositing 0.05 mL of each fungal suspension. After drying, two carriers without exposure to the fumigant and three carriers with exposure to the fumigant were left in a sealed room ($25m^3$) at $21{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ and $60{\pm}10%$ relative humidity for 15 hours. Immediately after removal from the test room, each carrier was transferred into recovery diluent and suspended, diluted and inoculated. After incubation, the numbers of each colony were counted, and the parameter values (N, T, d) were calculated. Results: The working culture suspension number (N value) of T. mentagrophytes, C. albicans and A. niger were $1.0{\times}10^8$, $1.2{\times}10^8$ and $5.7{\times}10^7CFU/mL$, respectively. All the colony numbers on the carriers exposed to the fumigant (n1, n2, n3) were higher than 0.5N1 (the number of fungal test suspensions by pour plate method), 0.5N2 (the number of fungal test suspensions by filter membrane method) and 0.5N1, respectively. In addition, all mean numbers of test strains recovered on the control-carriers (T value) were over $10^6CFU/mL$. For the fungicidal effect of the fumigant, all numbers of fungal reductions after exposure of the fumigant (d value) were 4 logCFU/mL. Conclusions: The present study showed that fumigant containing 20% ortho-phenylphenol has effective fungicidal activity against T. mentagrophytes, C. albicans and A. niger.

  • A drug delivery system (DDS) based on nanoparticles has been used as a mediator to improve the efficacy of a drug by controlling the amount of drug released and delivering it to a target place. Chitosan, which is non-toxic and biodegradable, has good biocompatibility and excellent adsorption, so it can be used as a drug delivery vehicle. Valine, the essential amino acids, helps muscle growth and tissue recovery, and along with other amino acids. It lowers blood sugar levels and increases growth hormone production. In this study, Valine was adsorbed on magnetic chitosan which is capable of drug absorption, and Fe3O4-Valine CNPs was prepared through cross-linking with TPP (Tripolyphosphate). And then absorption and release trends of valine were investigated with the Fe3O4-Valine CNPs. Fe3O4, which has relatively high stability, is used to make the drug carrier magnetic so that the drug can be delivered to a target place. At optimal conditions, the absorption and release tendency of Fe3O4-Valine CNP was confirmed by analyzing by UV-Vis through the Ninhydrin test which is the color reaction of amino acids and by measuring the size of the particles, it was confirmed that it is suitable as a drug carrier.

  • Synchronization including timing recovery, frequency offset compensation, and frame synchronization is most important signal processing block in all wireless/wired communication systems. In most communication systems, synchronization schemes based on training sequences or preambles are used. WLAN standards of 802.11a/g/n released by IEEE are based on OFDM systems. OFDM systems are known to be much more sensitive to frequency and timing synchronization errors than single carrier systems. A loss of orthogonality between the multiplexed subcarriers can result in severe performance degradations. The starting position of the frame and the beginning of the symbol and training symbol can be estimated using correlation methods. Correlation processing functionality is usually complex because of large number of multipliers in implementation especially when the reference signal is non-binary. In this paper, a simple correlation based synchronization scheme is proposed for IEEE 802.11a/g/n systems. Existing property of a periodicity in the training symbols are exploited. Simulation and implementation results show that the proposed method has much smaller complexity without any performance degradation than the existing schemes.

  • This paper is related with optimum burst structure design for high efficient TDMA satellite return link transmission. In general, some typical burst structure for data transmission is composed of a pair of preamble and traffic data in the DVB-RCS (Digital Video Broadcasting. Return Channel via Satellite) and IPOS (IP over Satellite) standard. This structure has some difficulties to increase spectral efficiency that it requires a large of preamble length, high SNR environment, or receiver complexity. To cope with them, burst structure with distributed pilot symbol can be used to alleviate the residual frequency offset effect by calculating accurate frequency offset than conventional one. In particular, we investigate some relevant to proposed distributed pilot structure, previously and analyze their strong points/drawbacks in terms of synchronization to draw the most appropriate one.
