Preparation and Characterization of Hydrophobic Coatings from Carnauba Wax/Lignin Blends

  • To realize the infinite possibilities of materials derived from wood, it is necessary to overcome the weak moisture stability of wood. Thus, the development of an eco-friendly hydrophobic coating agent is essential, and of these, woody biomass-based materials are strongly attractive as coatings. In this study, eco-friendly hydrophobic wood coatings were prepared using carnauba wax purified from palm leaves and sprouts, and kraft lignin. The physicochemical properties of the carnauba wax/lignin blends according to the ratio of carnauba wax and lignin were observed by morphology and functional group change. In addition, the coating performance of carnauba wax/lignin blend coatings was confirmed by measuring the contact angle change. It was found that the addition of lignin could accelerate the atomization of wax particles, and that micro-roughness can be realized when applied to the actual wood surface, to ensure that the coating effect over time lasts longer. In addition, it was confirmed that the addition of lignin increases the hydrogen-bond-based interaction with the wood of the coating, thereby providing better coating stability and increasing the durability of the coating solvent under friction. The carnauba wax/lignin paint developed in this way is eco-friendly because all components are made of wood-based raw materials and have an excellent affinity with wood surfaces. Therefore, it is expected to be applicable to the coating process of wood-plastic composites and timber composites.

천연왁스를 이용한 화장품 첨가용 비타민 C의 코팅 (Coating of Vitamin C Using Natural Wax as a Cosmetic Additive)

  • Vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid, an essential nutrient for humans with antioxidative property, was coated with natural wax to be used as functional additives for cosmetics. Coating of vitamin C was performed using carnauba wax and olive wax in self-designed reaction chamber for 60 min. The yield of coated vitamin C with carnawuba wax and olive wax were up to $94.6{\pm}1.2%$ and $82.5{\pm}1.4%$, respectively. The stability of the carnauba wax-coated vitamin C in the lotion was improved 17.8% than that of uncoated vitamin C during 30 day storage at $25^{\circ}C$. Color and the layer separation of the lotion added with the coated vitamin C showed better property than with the uncoated vitamin C. The coated vitamin C can be applied to cosmetic ingredients as a stable additive.

이방 도전성 페이스트의 상온 보관성 향상을 위한 Imidazole 경화 촉매제의 Encapsulation (Encapsulation of an 2-methyl Imidazole Curing Accelerator for the Extended Pot Life of Anisotropic Conductive Pastes (ACPs))

  • 본 연구에서는 일액형 이방 도전성 페이스트(anisotropic conductive paste, ACP) 혼합 조성의 상온 보관성을 향상시키기 위해 2-methyl imidazole 경화 촉매제를 5종의 각기 다른 물질로써 encapsulation하였다. Encapsulation용 분말 물질들은 DSC를 통해 그 융점을 관찰하였으며, 이를 통해 encapsulation용 분말 물질들을 액상으로 용융시켜 encapsulation하는 공정이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다. Encapsulation된 2-methyl imidazole 분말을 포함한 ACP 혼합물질의 상온 보관성을 평가하기 위하여 시간에 따른 점도 변화가 관찰되었다. 그 결과, stearic acid와 carnauba wax로 encapsulation된 2-methyl imidazole 분말을 포함한 혼합물질에서 향상된 상온 보관성을 관찰할 수 있었으며, 이러한 formulation은 기본 혼합물질과도 유사한 경화 거동을 보임을 확인할 수 있었다. 최종적으로 stearic acid와 carnauba wax로 encapsulation된 2-methyl imidazole 분말을 포함한 혼합물질을 사용하여 RFID 칩을 제조된 안테나 패턴이 형성된 PET 기판에 고속 플립칩 본딩을 실시하였다. 이 경우 측정된 접합 강도는 기본 혼합물질에 비해 약 37%의 수준인 것으로 측정되었다.

  • The effect of polysorbate 40, used as a surfactant during the process of manufacture, on the properties of cytarabine microspheres with carnaubu wax was studied. It was revealed that the mean particle size increased in proportion to the concentration of polysorbate 40, and that the dissolution rate of the cytarabine from the microspheres decreased greatly more than the cytarabine powder only, but increased in proportion to the concentration of polysorbate 40 as surfactant.

분말사출성형체에서 Sr-페라이트 자성분말의 배향도에 미치는 첨가제의 영향 (Effect of Additives on the Orientation of Magnetic Sr-Ferrite Powders in Powder Injection Molded Compacts)

  • 다극 이방성 Sr-페라이트 소결자석을 제조하기 위한 자장중 분말사출성형공정에서 Sr-페라이트 자성분말의 배향도에 미치는 결합제의 첨가제 영향이 연구되었다 외부자기장의 방향에 대한 Sr-페라이트 자성분말의 배향도는 첨가제의 종류, 사출성형온도와 관련한 사출성형체의 유동성과 외부자기장의 세기에 크게 의존하였다. Paraffin wax/carnauba wax/HDPE 3성분계 결합제에 stearic acid를 첨가하면 분말사출성형체의 유동성이 향상되어 Sr-페라이트 자성분말의 배향도가 증가되었으나, silane계 커플링제를 첨가하면 성형체의 유동성이 오히려 감소되어 Sr-페라이트의 배향도가 감소되었다. 80% 이상의 Sr-페라이트 자성분말의 배향도는 사출성형체의 겉보기점도가 2500 poise (1000sec$^{-1}$)이하이고 외부자기장의 세기가 4kOe 이상인 유용한 조건에서 얻어졌다.

납형의 성질(性質) 및 성분(成分)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on Qualities and Components of Wax Patterns)

  • This study was aimed at obtaining a desirable wax pattern for inlay. The method used was to analyze, mix, and heat several kinds of waxes, comparing the temperatures of their components. The result was Type C wax. In type C the amount of paraffin was generally contained(60$\sim$70%) was reduced to 45% and there was mixed 10%-15% of carnauba, which was intended for the wax not to soften readily at low temperatures. The type C has some advantages for general use: handy preparation, high safety, and economy. The inlay waxes commonly used contracted if the temperature fell from 38 to 28, but the contraction of type C was observed to be 0.2%$\sim$0.4% in proportion to the 10 fall. This was more characteristic in mixing.

식물성 유지를 이용한 구연산코팅 공정의 개발 (Development of Coating Process of Citric Acid Using Vegetable Oil)

  • 신맛이 요구되는 식품에 일반적으로 첨가되는 구연산의 산미 기능과 첨가물로써 물성을 향상시키기 위하여 식물성 유지를 이용하여 코팅 수율이 95%이상이며 코팅물질함량은 총 조성물 중 20~33% 내외인 코팅구연산 제조공정을 개발하였다. 개발된 코팅구연산 (coated citric acid)은 식품에 투입되었을 때 최종제품에서 본 식품의 물성을 변화시키지 않고 구연산 본래의 신맛을 감소시키며, 제품이 입에서 녹을 시점에서 자극적이지 않은 신맛을 서서히 방출 시키는 특징을 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구를 통하여 개발된 코팅 구연산은 식품산업 및 향장품 등 다양한 관련 산업분야적용이 가능함으로써, 고부가가치 제품으로 수입대체 및 해외수출 등 관련 산업 분야로의 파급효과가 클 것으로 기대된다.

분말사출성형으로 제조된 다극 이방성 Sr-페라이트 소결자석 (Multi-pole anisotropic Sr-ferrite sintered magnets fabricated by powder injection molding)

  • Multi-pole anisotropic Sr-ferrite sintered magnets has been studied by powder injection molding under applied magnetic field. The orientation of anisotropic Sr-ferrite powders higher than 80% during injection molding is achieved at the following conditions; apparent viscosity lower then 2500 poise in 1000 $sec^{-1}$ shear rate and applied magnetic field higher then 4 kOe. For the high fluidity and strength of injection molded compact, and the effective binder removal without defects during solvent extraction and thermal debinding, the optimum multi-binder composition is paraffin wax(PW)/carnauba wax(CW)/HDPE = 50/25/25 wt%. The rate of binder removal is proportional to the mean particle size of Sr-ferrite powders whereas it is inversely proportional to the content of Sr-ferrite powders and the sample thickness. The high magnetic properties of Sr-ferrite sintered magnets are; 3.8 kG of remanent flux density, 3.4 kOe of intrinsic coercivity, and 1.2 kG of surface flux density (l-mm-thick) in the direction of applied magnetic field.

미니피그를 이용한 아세브로필린 이중정의 약동학적 평가 (아세브로필린 이중정 개발) (Pharmacokinetics of Acebrophylline Containing Double-layered Sustained Release Tablet in Mini Pigs)

  • The aim of the present study was to improve commercial twice-a-day Acebrophylline formulation to once-a-day new formulation to improve patient compliances. To develop the double-layered tablet, the sustained release layer was prepared using Eudragit$^{(R)}$ L100-55 and Carnauba wax. The sustained release layer has shown delayed release rates in pH 1.2 which comparable to that of performed in pH 6.8 buffer. In the comparative pharmacokinetic study with commercialized Surfolase$^{(R)}$, the present double-layered Acebrophylline tablet has shown similar pharmacokinetic parameters of AUC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ values.
