The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence the choice of a major in a sample of 655 science students enrolled in 14 high schools. It was found that more than 80 percents of students had already chosen their desired majors by the second year of high school. Half intended to apply for medical colleges. The preference of medical colleges was more pronounced in high-ranking students. It was found that students who scored highly on career decision level assessments were more likely to major in science. The most important determinant for students in choosing majors was subject interests. Career concerns and students' grades also influenced the choice of majors. In this study, it is concluded that the career decision level of students and subject interests influenced their choice of major. These findings suggest the career development programs and efforts to expose students to various career paths will increase the ability to make informed educational decisions.

The purpose of this study was to analyze stages of the concern on open inquiry of elementary school teachers. To achieve this purpose, this study used the instruments of CBAM, including stages of concern questionnarie. The results of this study was as follows. Firstly, most teachers were in 0 stage, which meant they had little concern on open inquiry in science instruction. Secondly, the teachers who had teaching career of less than or 10 years were no more interested in open inquiry than teachers who had teaching career of 11-20 years. Thirdly, the training experience and teaching experience of open inquiry didn't show a statistically significant difference. Based on these results, this study suggested that we need educational programs and supporting strategies to heighten concerns and enthusiasm of teachers and pre-service teachers on open inquiry in science instruction.

Objectives: This study aims to identify dentists' opinions about the return to work of the dental hygienists with career interrupted. Convenience sampling was made of 22 dentists with the clinical experience (about 0.25%) of the 4,944 members of Gyeonggi-do Dental Association. Data were collected through an electronic survey using e-mails and telephone interviews and analyzed using the constant comparison method. Methods: Open coding was assigned to the initial data from the survey in an explicit language, and focusing on the types of their employment, working conditions, etc. Summarization and conceptualization were made of the second data in an implicit language. Results: Most of the dentists were found to have positive attitudes toward the return to work of career interrupted dental hygienists and hope to adjust their wages based on their job performance or after their probational period expires. Most of the dentists were found to have positive attitudes towards the hygienists' flexible working although their concerns about work efficiency and hospital atmosphere. This study is a qualitative study that describes dentists' opinions and presents the need for the career interrupted dental hygienists to return to work. Conclusions: The study proposed that the educational institutions should take into account the hygienists' opinions when implementing the programs for promoting their return to work and their evaluative studies.
Despite the increasing interest in the positive effects of smart-work, the introduction rate of domestic firms in Korea is lower than that of other developed countries. A gap also exists between the introduction of smart-work program and the actual use by workers. Thus, even if the smart-work program was introduced to firms, the actual usage rate of the program would still be lower than the introduction rate. Moreover, even if the program was initially used, evidence suggests that the usage rate tends to decrease rather than being used continuously. In this study, we intend to find out the mechanism by which the continuance intention of smart-work is formed. To achieve this objective, we established a research model based on literature on Information System (IS) continuance model and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) support. We also hypothesize that concerns about career disadvantage in the mechanism plays a negative role in the satisfaction of smart-work. To analyze the hypothesis empirically, we surveyed domestic workers who used smart-work. Our data analysis was based on 333 responses. We found that all paths were statistically significant, except for the direct effect of ICT support on perceived usefulness and the direct effect of perceived usefulness on smart-work continuance intention. The results of this study extend existing IS continuance model and suggest implications for practical smart-work implementation and improvement.
In this survey, we investigated the way of thinking about meal management of housewives including the sincerity to meal preparation, the eating practices and cronic degenerative diseases related dietary behaviors, and studied the effects of above factors on the real food intakes. We also investigated the trends of health-foods and nutrient supplements usage. The results obtained from 506 housewives in Seoul were summarized as follows. Although our subjects prepared their meals habitually without special concern, they did not prefer the use of convenient foods. The food prefrence of housewivess who had more child and refered higher life status was similar with other family members. The dietary attitudes were good in large family, the higher income and the more child group. The highly educated group skipped breakfast more frequently. The mealmanagers with better education career and good living status considered for the restriction of salty foods, sweet foods, animal fats and pungent foods, and for the nutritionally balanced diet. The high income group showed great concerns about weight gain at meal times. The nutritional qualities expressed by the frequency of food group intakes were high in the better educated and living status groups, and their eating frequencies of animal protein foods and calcium sources were significantly high. Mealmanagers who had no job intaked vegetable oils through frying foods frequently. The use of health-foods and nutrient supplements was influenced by age, educational and economic level and self-estimated living status, but the trends in prevalence of both were not consistent. Health-foods were prefered by the groups of high educational career, affluent income and advanced living status, and low educational career, low income and low living status groups favored the nutrient supplements. The restrictive intake of animal fat and the use of health-food were positively correlated, which seemed that the subjects used health-foods as supplements in compensation for nutritional unbalance caused by the avoidance of animal protein foods.

Background: The purpose of this survey is to determine the job and task satisfaction of physiotherapists. These are important factors because they are directly connected to both morale and work efficiency. Methods: Data was collected from March 9th, 2013 to April 15th, 2013 using self-administered questionnaires. First, Cronbach Alpha coefficient was used to evaluate date reliability. Further data analysis used mean and standard deviation to determine frequency and satisfaction for each characteristic. To determine the significance of job and task satisfaction, T-test and an analysis of variance were performed. Also, regression analysis was used to find out a relation between job satisfaction of physiotherapist and task satisfaction of orthopaedic physical therapy. Result: This survey includes results from 197 physiotherapists who engage in orthopaedic physical therapy from major, medium and small cities. The general characteristics of survey respondents include: 112 males (56.9%), 85 females (43.1%); 123 in their twenties (62.4%), 56 in their thirties (28.4%), and 18 over forty (9.1%); 156 had less than five years work experience in orthopaedics, 25 had six to ten years, and 16 had more than eleven years work experience. In the physiotherapist's job satisfaction survey (out of 5), males averaged 3.71 and females averaged 3.43. Individuals with less than five years in the career averaged 3.5, 3.69 for between 6 to 10 years in career, 3.87 for over 11 years in career; this showed a significant difference. Results of the sub-factors of job satisfaction were 3.81 for self-esteem and 3.21 for prospect of occupation. Results of task satisfaction in orthopaedic therapy showed a significant difference between 4.03 for males and 3.66 for females. For sub-factors of task satisfaction scores were 3.81 for vision, 4.29 for task adoption, and 3.57 for task recognition. Conclusion: Physiotherapists will be satisfied when their motivation to work and morale are increased by concerns such as improving the education environment, expert physiotherapist adoption issue, and medical law revision.

The purpose of the study were to :(1)determine important home management concepts in the secondary home economics education curriculum, (2) identify the educational needs related to home management perceived by home economics teachers, and the factors affecting it. (3) use the findings to make recommendations for developing home economics curriculum and teaching home economics in the secondary school. The questionnaires were distributed to the 385 home economics teachers, lived in seoul, local cities and rural area. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test one way ANOVA with scheffe test, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Forty home management concepts were selected based on the related literatures. Resource use, environmental concerns, consumer rights and consumer problems were the concepts which showed the highest level of educational needs perceived by the teachers. The educational needs were affected by school level, residence area of the respondents, age, career, and other factors related to the perception about home management education.

This study examined the concern levels of primary school teachers regarding transitional education from early childhood phase to primary education. Concern Based Adoption Model (CBAM) instrument of Hall and Hord (2006) was used to survey 104 primary school teachers. The results indicated that the majority of respondents' concern level was at 'informational' level (stage 1). And first peak of concern level was at 'unconcerned' level (stage 0). The first-second peak analysis of stage 0 (unconcerned) group indicated that there were 5 types of groups and each had distinguished features. Finally there were statistical differences at the unconcerned stage by in-service training and career of the first-year class. A discussion of the limitations of this study and implications for teacher education programs and operational support systems were suggested.
The purpose of this study was to analyze STEAM learning/teaching program that relates robots and to develop and redesign STEAM teaching/learning program with a robot for elementary and secondary schools. 'Learning with a robot' is considered as one of the best candidates for STEAM education. This article mainly concerns a robot that can be helpful to improve students' interests in learning science and mathematics in schools. As the results of the STEAM learning/teaching program analyzing, the program for elementary schools contained more contents of liberal arts and fine arts, and the program for secondary schools contained more contents of science, technology, and math. In the middle school program, context for learning, class activities of creative design and emotional touch, evaluation, and job and career information were evenly implemented. In the elementary and high school program, there were few information about robotics career. We extracted all robot utilizable subjects and units from school curriculums, and redesigned contents which can be applicable to regular classes for schools. As the result of this study, we conclude that 'learning with a robot' can encourage students' interests in STEM area.

The purpose of this study is to analyze middle school teachers' concern about and implementation degree of performance assessment in China. The research questions are as follows: First, what kind of concern is held by middle school teachers who implement performance assessment? Second, is there any significant difference in stages of concern the teachers on performance assessment according to their gender, education level and teaching career? Third, which level of use is shown by middle school teachers who implement performance assessment? Fourth, what is the correlation between middle school teachers' Stages of Concern and Levels of Use on performance assessment? This study was conducted based on a Concerns-Based Adoption Model (Hall, 1973; CBAM) that viewed teachers as the most primary factor of the execution of innovation, in this case, performance assessment. Performance assessment is assessment based on observation and judgement (Stiggins, 1994), and require test takers to complete a process or produce a product in a context that closely resembles real-life situations. The subjects of this study were randomly sampled from 120 middle school teachers throughout Bei-Jing, China. The questionnaires were distributed to them by mail, and they were asked to return their questionnaire by mail. The collect data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 18.0 program in terms of frequency, correlation, or MANOVA. Frequency analysis was used to analyze concern of middle school teachers on performance assessment. To gain an frequency of the individuals in each stage, we regarded the stage in which a teacher had his/her highest score as his/her relevant stage. Correlation analysis was adopted to identify the correlation between teachers' stage of concern and level of use. To analyze the difference of the concern of China middle school teachers on performance assessment according to their individual background variables such as gender, education level, and teaching career, MANOVA was performed.
