  • The formation of carbonyl group was dominant to other functional groups. Concentrations of both carboxyl and peroxide groups were found to rapidly reach low steady state values that increased slightly with increa-sing temperature and relatice humidity. Since the deg-radation of cellulose samples was in the initial stage and the conversion of glycosidic bonds and hydroxyl groups were very small, it was found that changes in the physical and chemical properties could be fitted to a first-order reaction model.

  • Pyrazolone group containing resin was tested as an acyl carrier in solid phase peptide synthesis. Several kinds of dipeptide derivatives were prepared by aminolysis reactions of Boc-amino acid-pyrazolone resin active ester with various carboxyl protected amino acid derivatives. It was found that the rates of aminolysis reactions were largely dependent on the bulkiness of the amino acid side chains, the carboxyl protecting groups, and the swelling property of the resin. All the dipeptide derivatives were obtained in high yield in 20-30 minutes, and the pyrazolone resin could be reused repeatedly in peptide synthesis without any change of its reactivity.

  • To provide a basis for the variation of fruit bodies of winter mushroom (Flammulina velutipes), the organic acid composition of its fruit bodies was investigated with several varieties of winter mushroom indifferent temperature and storage period. In the fruit bodies of winter mushroom, a total of 10 organic acids including acetic acid, butyric acid, citric acid, fumaric acid, DL-isocitric acid, L(+)lactic acid, D-malic acid, propionic acid, succinic acid, and D-tartaric acid were detected. In the most of the winter mushroom, acetic acid was the main organic acid component and fumaric acid was the least included component. Acetic acid, which is a mono-carboxyl group of organic acid, is contained in different levels according to different varieties and different storage temperature. Butyric acid is extremely variable in its quantity, depending on variety and different storage temperature. In contrast, fumaric acid, which is a dicarboxyl group of organic acid, decreased in its quantity during storage with 1.5 mg/g. Especially, ASI 4149, 4166 varieties tend to differ in their quantity. Besides, malic acid is extremely variable in its quantity according to variety and storage temperature. Citric acid, a tri-carboxyl group of organic acid, increased in its quantity according to storage period, which enables us to efficiently manage storage period. Isocitric acid is also extremely variable in its quantity according to variety, storage temperature and storage period.

  • The surface properties of activated carbon modified by acids and base were studied. The influence of the surface chemistry on the adsorption of benzene and acetone vapor on modified activated carbons has been investigated The modified activated carbons were obtained by treatment with acetic acid ($CH_3COOH$), nitric acid ($HNO_3$) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The modified activated carbons had similar porosity but different surface chemistry and adsorption characteristics. The total surface acidity (sum of functional groups) of activated carbon (AC-AN) treated by nitric acid was 2.6 times larger than that of activated carbon (AC) before the acid treatment. Especially, carboxyl group was much developed by nitric acid treatment. The benzene equilibrium adsorption capacity of AC-AN decreased 20% more than that of AC. However, the acetone equilibrium adsorption capacity of AC-AN increased 20% more than that of AC because of the large increase of carboxyl group and acidity.

  • With the copper interconnection in the semiconductor process, complex residues including copper oxide, fluoride, and polymeric fluorocarbon are formed by plasma etching. In this study, a cleaning solution was prepared with a component having an amine group (-NH2) and a carboxyl group (-COOH), and the characteristics of removing post-etch residues in the copper wiring process were analyzed. In the cleaning solution containing an amine group, the length of the component substituted with nitrogen and the length of the carbon chain influenced the cleaning effect, and the etching rate of copper oxide increased as the pH of the cleaning solution increased. The activity of the amine group is in the basic region, and the activity of the carboxyl group is in the acidic region, and the cleaning process proceeds through complex formation with copper or copper oxide in each region.

  • Quercus serrata degraded by Leminus edodes(berk) Singer was investigated. In order to evaluate on affect of the fungi on the sound logs, and the logs attacted for 2 years and five years were used as a sample tree. Large portions of carbohydrate mainly was decomposed by the fungy. It is supported by the increasing of alkaline extractives and the breaking up of crystallinity. Lignin is transformed considerably as shown the results of the determination of Klason lignin, gel filtration and nitrobezene oxidation. On the other hand, the decreasing of methoxyl group and the increasing of carboxyl group in parallel with demethlation and acidification are presented. Syringyl nuclei unit is decomposed easier than guaiacyl unit. It is also illustrated that the more decreasing of carboxyl group compared with aldehyde group was acidified biodegradation.

  • We have fabricated the source-drain electrodes for OTFTs by screen printing method and manufactured Ag pastes as conductive paste. To obtain excellent conductivity and screen-printability of Ag pastes, the dispersion characteristics of Ag pastes prepared from two types of acryl resins with different molecular structures and Ag powder treated with caprylic acid, triethanol amine and dodecane thiol as surfactant respectively were investigated. The Ag pastes containing Ag powder treated with dodecane thiol having thiol as anchor group or AA4123 with carboxyl group(COOH) of hydrophilic group as binder resin exhibited excellent dispersity. But, Ag pastes(CA-41, TA-41, DT-41) prepared from AA4123 fabricated the insulating layer since the strong interaction between surface of Ag powder and carboxyl group(COOH) of AA4123 interfered with the formation of conduction path among Ag powders. The viscosity behavior of Ag pastes exhibited shear-thinning flow in the high shear rate range and the pastes with bad dispersion characteristic demonstrated higher shear-thinning index than those with good dispersity due to the weak flocculated network structure. The output curve of OTFT device with a channel length of 107 ${\mu}m$ using screen-printed S-D electrodes from DT-30 showed good saturation behavior and no significant contact resistance. And this device exhibited a saturation mobility of $4.0{\times}10^{-3}$ $cm^2/Vs$, on/off current ratio of about $10^5$ and a threshold voltage of about 0.7 V.

  • Humic substances of 17 organic fertilizers available on the market were the objects of study. The list of ingredients for formulation of them comprised fish meal. bone meal, oil-cakes, brewer's grains, peat, sawdust, wood bark, zeolite, soil conditioner, live-stock droppings, amino acid fermentation byproduct, chaff, limestone and others. Humic and fulvic acids were isolated from those substances and given chemical and spectroscopic analyses. Nutritional values of the organic fertilizers showed big diversity. Humification of organic matter was incomplete for some of the fertilizers as indicated by a high C/N ratio. Extractable humic acid percentage was higher, in general, than that of fulvic acid. Also the relative content of humin increased with advanced humification. Total acidity was closely related to phenolic hydroxyl groups. Relationships between carboxyl and hydroxyl groups. and carboxyl and alcoholic hydroxyl groups were very significant. Ultraviolet and visible light absorption spectra of humic and fulvic acids were substantially similar. The types of humic acids were B. P, and Rp. Two humic acids of the 17 samples belonged to B type. 3 to P type and all the rest to Rp type.

  • Photothermal therapy is a treatment that necrotizes selectively the abnormal cells, in particular cancer cells, which are more vulnerable to heat than normal cells, using the heat generated when irradiating light. In this study, we synthesized a reduced graphene oxide with carboxyl groups (CRGO)-gold nanorod (AuNR) nanocomposite for photothermal treatment. Graphene oxide (GO) was selectively reduced and exfoliated at high temperature to synthesize CRGO, and the length of AuNR was adjusted according to the amount of AgNO3, to synthesize AuNR with a strong absorption peak at 880 nm, as an ideal photothermal agent. It was determined through FT-IR, thermogravimetric and fluorescence analyses that more carboxyl groups were conjugated with CRGO over RGO. In addition, CRGO exhibited excellent stability in aqueous solutions compared to RGO due to the presence of carboxylic acid. The CRGO-AuNR nanocomposites fabricated by electrostatic interaction have an average size of ~317 nm with a narrow size distribution. It was confirmed that under radiation with a near-infrared 880 nm laser which has an excellent tissue transmittance, the photothermal effect of CRGO-AuNR nanocomposites was greater than that of AuNR due to the synergistic effect of the two photothermal agents, CRGO and AuNR. Furthermore, the results of cancer cell toxicity by photothermal effect revealed that CRGO-AuNR nanocomposites showed superb cytotoxic properties. Therefore, the CRGO-AuNR nanocomposites are expected to be applied to the field of anticancer photothermal therapy based on their stable dispersibility and improved photothermal effect.
