The aim of this study was to determine the optimum level of carbon dioxide to maximize the quality and yields of strawberries cultivated in a greenhouse. Specifically, two strawberry cultivars, namely, 'Seolhyang' and 'Maehyang', were subjected to varying concentrations of carbon dioxide and patterns linked to their productivity were noted. Both cultivars showed improvements across various physical variables (i.e., leaf area, crown diameter, plant height, fresh weight, and dry weight) when carbon dioxide concentrations were at 1,500 ppm. The optimum carbon dioxide concentration for increased fruit yields and quality was 1,000 ppm. When carbon dioxide was at 1,000 ppm the yields of 'Seolhyang' and 'Maehyang' increased by 1.99 and 1.78 times, respectively, compared to control plants. The influence of carbon dioxide on fruit color was negligible. However, the carbon dioxide increased the sugar content and sugar-acid ratio of the experimental fruits compared to control plants. Specifically, the sugar-acid ratio, which is directly related to taste, was at its highest when the concentration of carbon dioxide was at 1,000 ppm (i.e., for both 'Seolhyang' and 'Maehyang'). Overall, the application of carbon dioxide culminated in improved yields and fruit quality for both cultivars of interest.

Systematic methods to calculate thermodynamic properties of carbon dioxide, HFC-134a and HCFC-22 are presented. First, application of a basic method to identify the saturation state with given temperature or pressure is attempted and the feasibility of auxiliary equations is tested. Next, detailed procedures are suggested to tell a phase when temperature/pressure and another property are specified. Finally the Newton-Raphson method is applied to calculate unknown thermodynamic properties fixing the state with the two independent properties specified. The procedures described here are utilized to develop a computer program, which is used to find the relation between temperature and pressure with maximum isobaric heat capacity for super-critical carbon dioxide.

The honeycomb adsorbents and adsorption process for carbon dioxide removal from fuel gas were investigated. Zeolite paper was made with Na-X zeolite powder and ceramic fiber as raw materials. $Li^+$, $Ca^{2+}$ or $K^+$ ion exchanges for Na-X zeolite and additional Na-X coating were performed on zeolite paper for increasing the carbon dioxide adsorption capacity, after that the adsorption characteristics of the samples were analyzed. Among the ion exchanged samples, $Li^+$ ion exchanged zeolite paper was most promising but its carbon dioxide adsorption capacity was less than expected for process application. However, additional Na-X coating was found to be an effective method for increasing the carbon dioxide adsorption capacity of the zeolite paper for process application. The carbon dioxide breakthrough test of the honeycomb adsorbent prepared with the zeolite paper was studied, and fuel gas treatment capacity was calculated when the honeycomb adsorbent was used in the rotary adsorption process.
In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of a composite cylindrical beam made of a mechanism of carbon dioxide absorption coated on the tube core are investigated based on the classical beam theory coupled with the modified couple stress theory. The composite tube structures are assumed to be uniform along the tube length, and the energy method regarding the Hamilton principle is utilized for generating the governing equations. A powerful numerical solution, the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM), is employed to solve the differential equations. The carbon dioxide trapping mechanism is a composite consisting of a polyacrylonitrile substrate and a cross-link polydimethylsiloxane gutter layer. Methacrylate, poly (ethylene glycol), methyl ether methacrylate, and three pedant methacrylates are all taken into account as potential mechanisms for capturing carbon dioxide. The application of the present study is helpful in the design and production of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and the different valuable parameters, such as the length-scale parameter, rate of section change, aspect ratio, etc., are presented in detail.
Mess removal, electrocoagulation, cryosurgery are conventional methods in the treatment of various oral mucosal diseases. However, there are several problems or complication during or after surgery using conventional tools. Recently, LASER gradually become useful tool in the surgery of oral mucosal diseases. Of the LASER, carbon dioxide-mediated LASER is widely used one. Carbon dioxide LASER has many advantages such as good bleeding control, decreased damage to adjacent tissue, decreased pain and swelling, reduced scar formation, even bacteriocidal effects. In this reports, the author describe pros and cons of LASER, especially focused on carbon dioxide, and shed light on the field of LASER application in treatment of various oral mucosal diseases.

Global warming due to greenhouse gases is an issue of great concern today. Fossil fuel power plants, especially coal-fired thermal power plants, are a major source of carbon dioxide emission. In this work, carbon capture and utilization using sodium hydroxide was studied experimentally. Application for flue gas of a coal-fired power plant is considered. Carbon dioxide, reacting with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, could be converted to sodium bicarbonate ($NaHCO_3$). A bench-scale unit of a reactor system was designed for this experiment. The capture scale of the reactor system was 2 kg of carbon dioxide per day. The detailed operational condition could be determined. The purity of produced sodium bicarbonate was above 97% and the absorption rate of $CO_2$ was above 95% through the experiment using this reactor system. The results obtained in this experiment contain useful information for the construction and operation of a commercial-scale plant. Through this experiment, the possibility of carbon capture for coal power plants using sodium hydroxide could be confirmed.
In this work, high pressure binary phase equilibria data of carbon dioxide and isopropyl alcohol were obtained by experiment. A static type experimental apparatus was made to measure temperature, pressure and phase equilibria composition. The experimental apparatus was tested by comparing the measured phase equilibria data of the carbon dioxide-isopropyl alcohol system at $80^{\circ}C$ with those of Rodosz. The binary phase behavior data of carbon dioxide-isopropyl alcohol system were measured in range of 41 to 133 bar and at temperatures of 40, 60, 80, 100 and $120^{\circ}C$. The solubility of isopropyl alcohol increases as the temperatures increases at constant pressure. Also, these carbon dioxide-alcohol solute system have critical-mixture curves that exhibit maxima in pressure at temperatures between the critical temperatures of carbon dioxide and isopropyl alcohol. The experimental data obtained in this study were modeled using the statistical associating fluid theory(SAFT) equation of state. A good fit of the data was obtained with SAFT using two adjustable parameters for the carbon dioxide-isopropyl alcohol system.
After produce the extracted wood to silicic acid gel, sodium carbonate and silicon dioxide with application of the making method for carbon dioxide, ignition time, ignition temperature, mass loss rate and critical heat flux are measured according to external radiation source (20, 25, 35 and 50 $kW/m^2$). From the results, pressure impregnation wood to use with water glass and carbon dioxide has fire retardant performance at heat flux (less than 20 $kW/m^2$) of Pre-Flashover fires. If we find out the excellent maxing ratio through continuously study, it might be decided to be able to be utilized as fire-retardant wood.

The effect of high carbon dioxide and ethylene treatment on postharvest ripening regulation of red kiwifruit (Actinidia melanandra) was investigated during cold storage. Physio-chemical properties such as weight loss, firmness, SSC, acidity, and market quality were analysed in red kiwifruit held at $10^{\circ}C$ compared to the fruit treated with carbon dioxide and ethylene during 75 days of storage. No significant weight loss was detected in red kiwifruit treated with carbon dioxide until 75 days of storage while the most rapid loss was found in fruit treated with ethylene. In ethylene-treated fruit, the firmness was dramatically reduced from 4.2kg on the first day to 1.2 kg after 27 days of storage at $10^{\circ}C$. However, the firmness of the carbon dioxide-treated fruit was 1.8kg after 54 days of storage. The highest level of SSC(%) was investigated within the 27 storage days at $10^{\circ}C$ for fresh red kiwifruit treated with exogenous ethylene, whereas the carbon dioxide-treated fruit exhibited a greatly increased SSC after 64 days. The carbon dioxide-treated red kiwifruit maintained statistically(p<.01) higher levels of acidity compared to the control and the exogenous ethylene-treated ones during 41 days of storage at $10^{\circ}C$. The SSC/Acid ratio of fruit treated with carbon dioxide was significantly lower (p<.01) maintained than the other two treatments (ethylene-treated and control fruit)throughout the 75-day experiment. Based on the quality characteristics of postharvest red kiwifruit, it could be concluded that the carbon dioxide treatment significantly delayed the ripening process and maintained the market quality of harvested red kiwifruit, which can be a potential application for commercial use in the kiwi industry.
