  • The arena of strategic competition between the US and China is expandable from international politics, trade and commerce to finance. What would happen if financial sanctions against China are imposed by the US? Would US financial sanctions lead to a sudden outflow of foreign capital and a liquidity crisis in China? We try to address these questions by estimating China's capital flows-at-risk with the CDS premium on Chinese sovereign funds. We follow Gelos et al. (2019) in setting up a quantile regression model from which China's foreign capital flow-at-risks are estimated. Based on our analysis of China's monthly capital flow data, we find that a rise in the CDS premium has statistically significant negative impacts on China's foreign capital flows-at-risk, mainly in banking flows. However, the analysis also found that due to favorable global conditions, an increase in the CDS premium is unlikely to trigger a shift to a sudden outflow of foreign capital at the moment. Meanwhile, this study found no statistically significant correlation between Korea's capital flows-at-risk and the CDS premium, suggesting that the negative impact of US financial sanctions on China would not increase the probability of capital flight from Korea in a significant manner.

  • The cash flow forecasting is normally done by contractors in construction industry at early stages of the project for contractual decisions. The decision making in such situations involve uncertainty about future cash flows and assessment of working capital requirements gains more importance in projects constrained by cash. The traditional approach to assess the working capital requirements is deterministic in and neglects the uncertainty. This paper presents an alternate approach to assessment of working capital requirements for contractor based on fuzzy set theory by considering the uncertainty and ambiguity involved at payment periods. Statistical methods are used to deal with the uncertainty for working capital curves. Membership functions of the fuzzy sets are developed based on these statistical measures. Advantage of fuzzy peak working capital requirements is demonstrated using peak working capital requirements curves. Fuzzy peak working capital requirements curves are compared with deterministic curves and the results are analyzed. Fuzzy weighted average methodology is proposed for the assessment of peak working capital requirements.

  • This study is a descriptive study designed to identify the relationships among self-leadership, positive psychological capital, and learning flow, and the mediation effect of positive psychological capital between self-leadership and learning flow. The participants for this study were 218 nursing students following a four-year curriculum in J city and the data was collected from April 1st to April 15th, 2016, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression with the SPSS 22.0 Program. There were significant correlations among self-leadership, positive psychological capital, and learning flow. In the multiple regression analysis, the main factor affecting learning flow was self-leadership, which explained 44.1% of the variance in learning flow. Moreover, of 4 the components of positive psychological capital, self-efficacy and hope had a partial mediating effect between self-leadership and learning flow. Self-leadership, positive psychological capital, and learning flow relationship were positive relevant. To enhance the learning flow ability of the nursing students, it is necessary to develop a training program to increase their self-leadership and positive psychological capital.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the impacts of global uncertainty on gross and net capital flows in Korea. Design/methodology/approach - We conduct an empirical analysis of the impact of global uncertainty on the net and gross capital flows in korea. To investigate the impacts, we incorporate linear and nonlinear ARDL models. Findings - We find global uncertainty has negative impacts on the gross and net capital flows. But this impact is nonlinear. The negative global uncertainty shocks are bigger than the positive global uncertainty shocks on capital flows in Korea. And we find this relationship is noticeable in gross capital inflows. We also find interest rate difference between the US and Korea is the main driving source in capital flow after the Global financial crisis. Research implications or Originality - The results of this study suggest that the negative impacts of global uncertainty are noticeable. This means that economic players in financial markets should be more concerned about the bad news.

  • The foreign capital of appropriate scale is affirmative in stabilizing the domestic foreign exchange and stock market. But its excessive scale threatens corporate governance by a hostile M&A and causes the out-flow of national wealth and the unhealthiness of finn because foreign investors require high dividend through the superiority of stock ownership ratio. Therefore, the government and corporate must make the defensive countermeasure of corporate governance for the foreign capital immediately.

  • This study is a descriptive study designed to identify the relationships among positive psychological capital, physical health status, depression, interpersonal relationship and learning flow. The subjects were 181 nursing students and the data collection was from May 8 to June 20, 2019. Data analysis methods were descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression, using the SPSS 22.0 program. Positive psychological capital showed statistical differences according to age, grade, motive for major choice, major satisfaction and subjective health status. Positive psychological capital was correlated with depression(r=-.454, p<.001), interpersonal relationship(r=.611, p<.001) and learning flow(r=.452, p<.001). The factors affecting learning flow were positive psychological capital(β=.414, p<.001), major satisfaction(β=.177, p=.014), and grade(β=-.150, p=.026), which explained 24.4% of the variance. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply educational programs that can promote positive psychological capital in nursing students.

  • The main purpose of this study is to explore a social capital paradigm which can be applied to many forms of social capital and intangible goods. The social capital paradigm introduces a new form of capital. This new form of capital produces a flow of socio-emotional goods that have value. Moreover, these socio-emotional goods can attach themselves to the objects used to convey them and change their value and meaning. This change in value and meaning is defined as attachment values. Exchanges of socio-emotional goods occur in networks where social capital resides. Formal and informal institutions provide order and meaning to exchanges of tangible and intangible goods. Social capital is a powerful resource that makes our choices interdependent. The social capital paradigm does not alter or contradict the basic economic theories of exchange. While the social capital paradigm accepts that selfish preferences motive many actions, it adds that sympathy and the desire to consume socio-emotional goods are powerful motivators. In case of marine affairs, ocean and fishing villages and their culture have been not only a fundamental basis of fisheries development but they also have made a great deal of contribution to forming social capital. In spite of this fact, the main reason that the problems of fisheries fishing villages fishermen in our society are kept at a distance is because they have been loosing their capability of forming social capital and producing socio-emotional goods, in addition to lowered relative economic share.
