Formation of Tetra-Chlorinated Dibenzo-p-dioxins and Their Thermal Decomposition Products from Pyrolysis Reaction of Tri-Chlorophenates

  • Tetra-chlorodibenzo-p-dioxins (tetra-CDDs) were prepared by microscale pyrolysis of trichlorophenates. During the pyrolysis reaction, tri-, di-, and mono-CDDs were also formed by the thermolysis of tetra-CDDs. The dechlorination pathways of tetra-CDDs were suggested for this reaction. The identification of these products was performed with capillary column gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Simultaneous Analytical Method of Organochlorine and Pyrethroid Pesticides using GC(ECD) (GC-ECD를 이용한 유기염소계 밑 Pyrethroid계 농약 동시 분석법)

  • Pesticides were extracted from samples with 70% acetone and methylene chloride in order, and then cleaned up via open-column chromatography apparatus packed with florisil, and finally analyzed simultaneously the organochlorine and pyrethroid pesticides using GC(ECD). An ultra-2 fused silica capillary column was used to separate and identify the products. The resolution between the last isomeric peak of cypermethrin(59.987min) and the first isomeric peak of flucythrinate(60.043min) was not satisfactory. The last isomeric peak of fenvalerate(62.344min) and the first isomeric peak of fluvalinate(62.397min) were overlapped. Recoveries of soybean sample fer the most pesticides were 73.3% to 102.4%. Detection limits were between 0.004 and 0.063 ${\mu}$g/mg when this method was used.

  • The simultaneous analytical method for 37 residual pesticides was developed by a gas chromatography with $^{63}$ Ni electron capture detector. Pesticides added in soybean sample were extracted with 70% acetone in water and methylene chloride in oder, and then cleaned up via open-column apparatus packed with florisil and alumina N. The Ultra-2 fused capillary column was used to separate the products. The resolution between the last isomeric peak of cypermethrin (56.398 min) and the first isomeric peak of flucythrinate (56.421 min) was not satisfactory and the last isomeric peak of fenvalerate(58.783 min) and the first isomeric peak of fluvalinate(58.835 min) was overlapped. Except for $\alpha$-BHC, dichlofluanid, captan, and captafol, most recoveries were showed over 70%.

  • Unsaturated soil can describe soil particles, air-water and contact face between air and water. The providing a simple method to predict water content in Geotechnical mechanics is very important. In this experiment, DIP (Digital Image Processing) and electrical resistivity techniques were used simultaneously to predict the saturation degree, and the results of two techniques will be compared each other to get conclusion. The experiment was carried out for Jumunjin standard sand. The picture of experimental column of soil and water was taken at different times, then using DIP technique to measure Color number-the height of capillary in soil column. At the same time, measure electrical resistivity of the soil.

  • Separation and identification of the polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC) from pyrolysis products of cellulose and lignin were performed using a combination of acid-base solvent partitioning and silicic acid column chromatography with fused-silica capillary column gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry. Sixteen PAC were positively identifited by retention indices and mass spectra data. Both materials produced the same kinds of PAC. But lignin produced much more PAC than cellulose. Almost no highly carcinogenic heterocyclic PAC containing nitrogen and sulfur were produced.

  • A new high performance liquid chromatographic procedure is described for the analysis of ginseng saponins. Ginseng saponins were separated on Lichrosorb $NH_2$ column and anthraquinone-2, 6-disulfonate (AQDS) solution was added to the column effluent. The effluent was passed through 1.5m-PTFE capillary coiled around 10 W-UV lamp to reduce AQDS to highly fluorescent 9. 10-dihydroxyanthracene-2, 6-disulfonate which was detected by fluorescence detector. The detection limit for the ginsenoside $Rg_1$ by this method was found to be about 350 ng, the dynamic linear range was $10^2$ and the correlation coefficient of the calibration curve was 0.9999.

  • Deoxyschizandrin, gomisin N, schizandrin, wuweizisu C, gomisin A and angeloylgomisin H were isolated from fruits of Schisandra chinensis BAILLON, and the lignan contents in shred and smoke of 'Balloon-Flower' cigarettes were quantitatively analyzed by capillary-GC(FID). The GC column was SPB-1 fused silica capillay (0.25mm id$\times$30m, Supelco) and the column oven temperature was programmed from 20$0^{\circ}C$ to 30$0^{\circ}C$ at the rate of 4$^{\circ}C$/min. In the shred of 'Balloon-Flower' cigarettes deoxyschizandrin. gomisin N, schizandrin, gomisin A and angeloylgomisin H were detected and schizandrein contets were the highest among them, 22.77$\mu\textrm{g}$/cig., gomisin N, schizandrin and gomisin A were 0.023, 0.054, 0.0849 and 0.167$\mu\textrm{g}$/cig. respectively, and angeloylgomisin H was not detected.

  • This study was conducted to develop the method of hydrocarbon analysis and investigate hydrocarbon contents in flue-cured and burley tobacco leaves harvested in Korea and U.S.A. Tobacco leaf was extract with hexane in soxhlet apparatus. Hydrocarbon was fractionated from hexane extract by silica gel column chromatography, and then separated and indentified by GC, GC/MS using SE-54 fused silica capillary column. The developed method was feasible to analyze neophytadiene, normal and branched hydrocarbons from Clo to Cn. The result of recovery test was decade 99%, eicosane 100%, triacontane 102%. The major hydrocarbon of tobacco leaves were neophytadiene, nC3l, iC31, nC33, aC33, aC32, aC30 and nC29. The amount of total hydrocarbon in burley and flue-cured tobacco leaves harvested in U.S.A. and Korea were 4591, 2931, 2929 and 3015$\mu\textrm{g}$/g, respectively.

  • This study was carried out to separate and identify the acidic compounds in tobacco leaves. Izmir tobacco leaves was extracted with isopropyl ether and the extract was concentrated. The concentrate was extracted with 6% NaHCO3 aqueous solution. The aqueous extract was acidified with sulfuric acid, and extracted with diethyl ether. The acidic material was fractionated on silicic acid column using a benzene-methanol mixture with a stepwise increasing methanol concentration. The resulting fractions were esterified with diazomethane, and then identified by GC, GC/MS using SPB -5 fused silica capillary column. Most of acidic compounds in Izmir tobacco leaves were elected from fraction B which was benzene-methanol(98 : 2) mixture on silicic acid column chromatography. The identified acidic compounds of Izmir tobacco leaves were 18 saturated acids, 8 unsaturated acids, 5 dicarboxylic acids, 13 aromatic acids and 7 terpenoid acids. The major acidic compounds of lzmir tobacco leaves were 2- methylbutanoic, 3-methyl butanoic, 3- methylpentanoic, hexanoic, nonanedioic, phenylacetic, benzoic, 4- methoxybenzoic, 3, 5- dimethoxybenzoic, methoxycinnamic and 3, 4- dimethoxycinnamic acid.   • The influence of triglyceride molecular species on autoxidation was investigated by determining the residual molecular species after incubating soybean oil triglycerides. The molecular species of soybean oil triglycerides were analyzed by capillary column gas chromatography and electron impact ionization mass spectrometry utilizing selected ion monitoring. The autoxidative stability of each molecular species in soybean oil triglycerides appeared to decrease in proportion to the increase in the number of double bonds present in the acyl residues, and it was affected by degree of unsaturation of fatty acid when the number of double bonds in triglyceride were the same. And it appeared to be enhanced by a decreases in the length of the saturated acyl chain present in the glycerides.
