We have studied a conduction mechanism and equivalent circuit analysis in $Alq_3$ based Organic Light Emitting Diode. The conduction mechanism in organic light emitting diode can be classified into three regions; ohmic region, space-charge-limited current (SCLC) region and trap-charge-limited current (TCLC) region depending on the region of applied voltage. Equivalent circuit model of organic light emitting diode can be established using a parallel combination of resistance $R_p$ and capacitance $C_p$ with a small series resistance $R_s$.

An $ITO/Alq_3/Al$ structure was used to study complex impedance of $Alq_3$ based organic light-emitting diodes. Equivalent circuit was analyzed in a device structure of $ITO/Alq_3/Al$ with a thickness layer of $Alq_3$ of 100 nm. The obtained impedance was able to be fitted using equivalent circuit model of parallel combination of resistance $R_p$ and capacitance $C_p$ with a small series resistance of $R_s$.

Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) with multiple organic layers were fabricated to obtain and to evaluate an equivalent resistance and an equivalent capacitance of OLED device. The staircase voltage with an increasing period and a constant period was designed and applied to the OLED. The resistance of OLED was found to decrease from $270\;k{\Omega}$ to $2\;K{\Omega}$ as applied voltage increased after turn on. The equivalent capacitance of OLED maintained unchanged at low voltage level and deceased after showing peak value as the applied voltage increased.

A new pixel driving method for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) flat-panel display (FPD) is proposed. The new charge-pump passive-matrix pixel driver consists only of a storage capacitance and a rectifying diode, and no thin-film transistor (TFT) is needed. The new driver not only supplies a constant current to the OLED throughout the whole period of panel scanning like an active-matrix driver, but also provides a highly linear gray-scale control through a pure digital manner.

Cyclic measurement system using relay circuit for organic light emitting diode (OLED) was demonstrated. The OLED characterization such as current-voltage, impedance, and capacitance-voltage is performed in sequence, repetitively and automatically under full control of the personnel computer (PC) without changing the connection of cables. Owing to in situ degradation by cyclic measurement, the time dependence of the data can give good information on the reliability factor of the OLED devices. Therefore, both performance and reliability of the OLEDs can be evaluated, with no manual operation during the entire process.

현대 사회에서 고집적 및 고성능의 전자소자의 필요성은 지속적으로 요구되고 있으며, 투명하거나 플렉서블한 특성의 필요성에 따라 이에 대한 기술개발이 이루어지고 있다. 특히, 이러한 특성을 만족하면서 대면적화 및 저온 공정의 특성을 지니는 유기물 반도체가 주목받고 있고, 이를 이용하여 OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode), OTFT (Organic Thin Film Transistor)와 같은 다양한 유기물 반도체 소자가 개발되고 있다. 대표적인 예로는이 있다. 유기물 반도체 소자의 특성을 이용한 메모리 소자 또한 연구 및 개발이 지속되고 있으며, 유연성과 낮은 공정가격 등의 특성을 가지는 나노 입자들이 기존 Floating Gate의 대체물로 각광받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 MIS (Metal/Insulator/Semiconductor) 구조를 제작하고, Insulator 내부에Core/Shell 구조를 가지는 CdSe/ZnS 나노 입자를 부착하여 메모리 소자의 특성 확인 및 단위 면적당 개수에 따른 특성 변화를 확인하고자 하였다. 합성된 PVP (Poly 4-Vinyl Phenol)를 Insulator 층으로 사용하였으며 단위 면적당 나노 입자의 개수를 조절하여 제작된 MIS 소자를 Capacitance versus Voltage (C-V) 측정을 통하여 변화특성을 확인하였다.

In this paper we demonstrated the applications of OTFTs (organic thin film transistors) to flexible displays such as AM-EPD (active matrix electrophoretic display) and AM-OLED (active matrix organic light emitting diode), and also to integrated circuits. The OTFTs using pentacene semiconductor layer and PVP gate dielectric and Au S/D electrodes exhibited good performance for AM-EPD with the mobility of $0.59\;cm^{2}/V.sec,$ and with also good uniformity over 2.5" diagonal area. However, it is nor enough for AM-OLED requiring the mobility larger than $1\;cm^{2}/V.sec$ for large area displays. The integrated circuits also worked, producing the operating frequency of 1MHz. We need to develop a fabrication process to reduce parasitic capacitance for high frequency operation.

Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display panel using the charge-pump (CP) pixel addressing scheme was fabricated, and the results show that it is applicable for information display. A CP-OLED panel with 64 ${\times}$ 64 pixels consisting of thin-film capacitors and amorphous silicon Schottky diodes was fabricated using conventional thin-film processes. The pixel drive circuit passes electrical current into the OLED cell during most of the frame period as in the thin-film transistor (TFT)-based active-matrix (AM) OLED displays. In this study, the panel was operated at a voltage level of below 4 V, and this operation voltage can be reduced by eliminating the overlap capacitance between the column bus line and the common electrode.

Admittance or impedance spectroscopy is one of the powerful tools to study dielectric relaxation and loss processes in organic and inorganic materials. In this study, the frequency dependent properties of an indium tin oxide/tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum($Alq_3$)/aluminum structure have been studied. The conductance of the $Alq_3$ film increases with the DC applied voltage up to 4V and decreases above 4V in the low frequency region. This indicates that the resistance of the device decreases with the applied bias due to the carrier injection enhancement, thereafter the injected carriers form the space charge and the additional injection of carriers is prevented. The Cole-Cole plot of the admittance takes a one-semicircle shape, which means that the device can be modeled as a parallel resistor-capacitor network. The resistance and capacitance were estimated as 8.62k${\Omega}$ and 2.7nF, respectively, at 3V in the low frequency region. The dielectric constant ( ${\epsilon}'$ ) of the $Alq_3$ film is independent of the frequency in the low frequency region below 100kHz, while the frequency dependency was observed at above 100kHz. The dielectric loss factor ( ${\epsilon}"$ ) of the $Alq_3$ film shows the dielectric dispersion below 100kHz and dielectric absorption in higher frequency domain. The dispersion is thought to be related to the hopping process of the carriers. The ${\epsilon}"$ is proportional to the reciprocal of the frequency. The dielectric relaxation time was extracted to about 0.318${\mu}s$ from the dielectric absorption spectrum.
