High speed seam tracking using multi-line laser vision sensor (멀티 라인 레이저 비전 센서를 이용한 고속 용접선 추적 기술)

  • A vision sensor measure range data using laser light source. This sensor generally use patterned laser which shaped single line. But this vision sensor cannot satisfy new trend which needs laster and more precise processing. The sensor's sampling rate increases as reduced image processing time. However, the sampling rate can not over 30fps, because a camera has mechanical sampling limit. If we use multi line laser pattern, we will measure multi range data in one image. In the case of using same sampling rate camera, number of 2D range data profile in one second is directly proportional to laser line's number. For example, the vision sensor using 5 laser lines can sample 150 profiles per second in best condition.

  • In this paper, to control the existing headlamp control system using steering wheel angle more efficiently and more actively, image processing algorithm which improved the detection rate of lane at night based on camera was suggested. And to recognize road lane more clearly in the conditions of low illumination, new algorithms were developed in the aspects of improving brightness, extracting clear lane edge and using the characteristics of lane. Through this research, it turned out that lane detection ability by using the normalized stretching, angular mask and expected-area scan have good performance in the night compare to existing algorithms.

Optimized Optomechanical Anti-Aliasing Filter for Digital Camera Photography

  • We investigated an anti-aliasing (AA) filter for digital camera photography by which the excessively high-frequency components of the image signal are suppressed to avoid the aliasing effect. Our optomechanical AA filter was implemented by applying rapid relative motions to the imaging sensor. By the engineered motion blur of the mechanical dithers, the effective point-spread function (PSF) of the imaging system could be tailored to reject the unwanted high-frequency components of the image. For optimal operations, we developed a spiral filter motion protocol that could produce a Gaussian-like PSF. We experimentally demonstrated that our AA filter provides an improved filtering characteristic with a better compromise of the rejection performance and the signal loss. We also found that the pass band characteristic can be enhanced further by a color-differential acquisition mode. Our filter scheme provides a useful method of digital photography for low-error image measurements as well as for ordinary photographic applications where annoying $moir{\acute{e}}$ patterns must be suppressed efficiently.

Development of the Corrosion Deterioration Inspection Tool for Transmission Tower Members

  • Recently, interests for maintenance of transmission tower are increasing to extend life of structures and reduce maintenance cost. However, existing classical diagnosis method of corrosion deteriorated degree on the transmission tower steel members, visual inspection, has a problem that error often due to difference of inspector's individual knowledge and experience. In order to solve the problem, this study carried out to develop the corrosion deterioration inspection tool for transmission tower steel members. This tool is composed of camera equipment and computer-aided diagnosis system. We standardized the photographing method by camera equipment to obtain suitable pictures for image processing. Diagnosis system was designed to evaluate automatically degree of corrosion deterioration for member of transmission tower on the basis of the RGB color image processing techniques. It is anticipated that developed the corrosion deterioration inspection tool will be very helpful in decision of optimal maintenance time for transmission tower corrosion.

  • This paper proposes a method for rejecting false matches in automobile rear view camera image sequences. Our method consists of two submethods which utilize the motion characteristics of an automobile. One is for a straight motion and the other is for a curve motion. First, we classify an image sequence into a straight motion or a curve motion and then apply an appropriate submethod. Our method works in cases where the percentage of true matches is as low as 30%.

  • There are lot of noises and errors in depth map image which is gotten by using a stereo camera. These errors are caused by mismatching of the corresponding points which occur in texture-less region of input images of stereo camera or occlusions. In this paper, we use a method which is able to get rid of the noises through post processing and reduce the errors of disparity values which are caused by the mismatching in the texture-less region of input images through the correlation between the depth map images and the input images. Then we propose a novel method which segments the object by using the improved disparity map images and projections.

  • In this paper we implement a robot system consisted of mobile tole robot to be controlled by client through web browser Newly Internet is connected to all network of the whole world. If client uses the network like this, client can control direction of a robot that is selected in free place. In this study, system is embodied in using robot that can move freely in plan place and cod camera that can grab robot image. System transmit image data of cod camera to java server that is placed in web server of internet that is used by client. Java server display incoming data in home page using java applet. Then web browser offer robot image to client and client send remote control signal to robot. Control signal is transmitted to robot by java server and robot receiving signal moves toward direction wanted by client.

  • Noncontact measuring methodology of 3-dimensional profile using CCD camera are very attractive because of it's high measuring speed and its's high sensitivity. Especially when projecting a grid pattern over the object, the captured image have 3 dimensional information of the object. Projection moire extract 3-D information with another grid pattern in front of CCD camera. However phase measuring profilometry(PMP) obtain similar results without additional grid pattern. In this paper, the projection moire are compared with the PMP mathematically, and it is shown that PMP can generate moire image with simple mathematical computations. Experimental works are also carried out showing the same results. It is shown that using a single gird pattern, moire image can be obtained directly without any mathematical operation when some conditions are satisfied.

This paper introduces a new local thresholding technique based on the relative intensity of IR-LED that is acquired with the camera and installation informations.

  • The present experimental study is aimed to investigate the flow characteristics of the high-speed flow field within hot-water pump by PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry). As multi-point simultaneous velocity acquisition, 2-D PIV system based upon the two-frame gray-level cross correlation method is adopted using PC frame-grabber and simple video system. Gated image intensifier CCD Camera to cope with illumination problem is arranged for accurate PIV measurement of high-speed complex flow. The velocity vector distribution, velocity profile, and kinetic energy are represented quantitatively at the full-scale region for the deeper understanding of the unsteady flow characteristics in a pump.
