Detecting Complex 3D Human Motions with Body Model Low-Rank Representation for Real-Time Smart Activity Monitoring System

  • Detecting and capturing 3D human structures from the intensity-based image sequences is an inherently arguable problem, which attracted attention of several researchers especially in real-time activity recognition (Real-AR). These Real-AR systems have been significantly enhanced by using depth intensity sensors that gives maximum information, in spite of the fact that conventional Real-AR systems are using RGB video sensors. This study proposed a depth-based routine-logging Real-AR system to identify the daily human activity routines and to make these surroundings an intelligent living space. Our real-time routine-logging Real-AR system is categorized into two categories. The data collection with the use of a depth camera, feature extraction based on joint information and training/recognition of each activity. In-addition, the recognition mechanism locates, and pinpoints the learned activities and induces routine-logs. The evaluation applied on the depth datasets (self-annotated and MSRAction3D datasets) demonstrated that proposed system can achieve better recognition rates and robust as compare to state-of-the-art methods. Our Real-AR should be feasibly accessible and permanently used in behavior monitoring applications, humanoid-robot systems and e-medical therapy systems.

Characteristics of Bubble-driven Flow with Varying Flow Rates by Using Time-resolved PIV and POD Technique (Time-resolved PIV와 POD기법을 이용한 유량에 따른 단일노즐 버블링 유동 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the recirculation flow motion and mixing characteristics driven by air bubble flow in a rectangular water tank is studied. The Time-resolved PIV technique is adopted for the quantitative visualization and analysis. 532 nm Diode CW laser is used for illumination and orange fluorescent particle images are acquired by a PCO 10bit high-speed camera. To obtain clean particle images, 545 nm long pass optical filter and an image intensifier are employed and the flow rates of compressed air is changed from 2 l/min to 4 l/min at 0.5 MPa. The recirculation and mixing flow field is further investigated by the POD analysis technique. It is observed that the large scale counterclockwise rotation and main vortex is generated in the upper half depth from the free surface and one quarter width from the sidewall. When the flow rates are increased, the main vortex core is moved to the side and bottom wall direction.

  • This study proposes a remote monitoring of patients and emergency notification system with a camera and pulse wave sensor for U-Healthcare. The proposed system is a server client model based U-Healthcare system which consists of wireless clients that have micro-controller, embedded-board for patient status monitoring and a remote management server. The remote management server observes the change of pulse wave data individually in real-time sent from the clients that is to be remote-monitored based on the pulse wave data stored by users and divides them into caution section and emergency section. When the pulse wave data of a user enters an emergency situation, the administrator can make a decision based on the real-time image information and pulse rate variability. When the status of the monitored patient enters the emergency section, the proposed U-healthcare system notifies the administrator and relevant institutions. An experiment was conducted to demonstrate the pulse wave recognition of the proposed system.

  • In this paper, a noise-tolerant generalized symmetry transform(NTGST) is proposed as an effective attention operator for the spot detection in BLU inspection, in which various spots with variable sizes, shapes, gray levels, and low contrast, should be detected from the complex, noisy background with lattice shaped shading. The proposed NTGST takes into account the polarity of convergence and divergence of the radial orientation of the intensity gradient as well as it's magnitude and symmetry, and thereby can detect only the BLU spots from the noisy and lattice shaped shadows of background. Experiments are conducted on the BLU inspection image obtained by CCD camera, and the proposed NTGST is Proved to be effectively used in BLU inspection.

  • The gyroscope is the sensor for detecting the rotation in inertial reference frame and constitute the navigation system together an accelerometer. As the inertial reference equipment for attitude determination and control in the satellite, the mechanical gyroscope has been used but it bring the disturbance for mass unbalance so the disturbance give a bad influence to the observation satellite mission because the mechanical gyroscope has the rotation parts. During the launch, The mechanical gyroscope is weak in vibration, shock and has the defect of narrow operating temperature range so it need the special design in integration. Recently the low orbit observation satellite for seeking the high pointing accuracy of image camera payload accept the FOG(Fiber Optic Gyro) or RLG(Ring Laser Gyro) for the attitude determination and control. The Ring Laser Gyro makes use of the Sanac effect within a resonant ring cavity of a He-Ne laser and has more accuracy than the other gyros. It need the 1000V DC to create the He-Ne plasma in discharge tube. In this paper, the design process of the High Voltage Power Supply for RLG(Ring Laser Gyroscope) is described. The specification for High Voltage Power Supply(HVPS) is proposed. Also, The analysis of flyback converter topology is explained. The Design for the HVPS is composed of the inverter circuit, feedback control circuit, high frequency switching transformer design and voltage doubler circuit.

  • In this paper, safety certification products and safety condition of small transformer is analyzed in industries field and educational facilities. In transformer of 50places, absolute majority is step down transformer to measure of instrument. Most transformers were below 5kVA and 1~3kVA capacity was the mainstream. In industries field, 5 transformers were found without safety certification according to the Electrical Appliances Safety Control Act as cheap product prefer and lack of safety consciousness. Mark & number, voltage, date of manufacture of safety certification must show item of certification. However date of manufacture showed in product of 18%, 9places. As result of thermal imaging camera, running temperature of transformer was showed in below of target temperature. However as a narrow space of transformer and wall, power cable was touched on a ventilating flue in transformer. It was simple carelessness case that surface fouling and temperature ageing of transformer accelerate. Power poor connection, neglect of transformer in production equipment, fall damage by setup incongruity and ground omission were found in case of illogicality item of transformer.

  • In this paper, we propose a hand gesture interface for the manipulation of augmented objects in 3D space using a camera. Generally a marker is used for the detection of 3D movement in 2D images. However marker based system has obvious defects since markers are always to be included in the image or we need additional equipments for controling objects, which results in reduced immersion. To overcome this problem, we replace marker by planar hand shape by estimating the hand pose. Kalman filter is for robust tracking of the hand shape. The experimental result indicates the feasibility of the proposed algorithm for hand based AR interfaces.

  • In this paper a new defect detection method for flat panel display that does not require any separately prepared reference images and shows robustness against problems with regard to pixel tolerance and nonuniform illumination condition is proposed. In order to perform defect detection under any magnification value of camera, the proposed method automatically obtains the value of pattern interval through an image analysis. Using the information for pattern interval, an advanced PCSR-G method presented in this paper utilizes neighboring patterns as its reference images instead of utilizing any separately prepared reference images. Also this paper proposes a scheme to improve the performance of the conventional PCSR-G method by extracting and applying additional information for pixel tolerance and intensity distribution considering the value of pattern interval. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method utilizing pixel tolerance and intensity distribution is superior to that of the conventional method. Also, it is proved that the proposed method that is implemented using parallel technique based on GPGPU can be applied to real system.

  • This paper describes the results of 2D mapping, feature detection and matching to create the surrounding environment in the mounted stereo camera on Mobile robot. Extract method of image's feature in real-time processing for quick operation uses the edge detection and Sum of Absolute Difference(SAD), stereo matching technique can be obtained through the correlation coefficient. To estimate the location of a mobile robot using ZigBee beacon and encoders mounted on the robot is estimated by Kalman filter. In addition, the merged gyro scope to measure compass is possible to generate map during mobile robot is moving. The Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) of mobile robot technology with an intelligent robot can be applied efficiently in human life would be based.

A New Stereo Matching Algorithm based on Variable Windows using Frequency Information in DWT Domain (DWT 영역에서의 주파수 정보를 활용한 가변 윈도우 기반의 스테레오 정합 알고리즘)

  • In this paper we propose a new stereo matching algorithm which is suitable for application to obtain depth information with high-speed in stereoscopic camera environment. For satisfying these condition we propose a new adaptive stereo matching technique using frequency information in discrete wavelet (DWT) domain and variable matching window. The size of the matching window is selected by analysis of the local property of the image in spatial domain and the feature and scaling factor of the matching window is selected by the frequency property in the frequency domain. For using frequency information we use local DWT and global DWT. We identified that the proposed technique has better peak noise to signal ratio (PSNR) than the fixed matching techniques with similar complexity.
