  • This paper proposes a minimal contour tracking algorithm that reduces transmission of data for tracking mobile objects in surveillance networks in terms of detection and communication load. This algorithm perform detection for object tracking and when it transmit image data to server from camera, it minimized communication load by reducing quantity of transmission data. This algorithm use minimal tracking area based on the kinematics of the object. The modeling of object's kinematics allows for pruning out part of the tracking area that cannot be mechanically visited by the mobile object within scheduled time. In applications to detect an object in real time, when transmitting a large amount of image data it is possible to reduce the transmission load.

  • This study suggests a methodology for automatically extracting placing information from 2D reinforced concrete details drawings and generating a 3D reinforcement placing model to develop a mobile augmented reality for bar placing work. To make it easier for users to acquire placing information, it is suggested that users takes pictures of structural drawings using a camera built into a mobile device and extract placing information using vision recognition and the OCR(Optical Character Registration) tool. In addition, an augmented reality app is implemented using the game engine to allow users to automatically generate 3D reinforcement placing model and review the 3D models by superimposing them with real images. Details are described for application to the proposed methodology using the previously developed programming tools, and the results of implementing reinforcement augmented reality models for typical members at construction sites are reviewed. It is expected that the methodology presented as a result of application can be used for learning bar placing work or construction review.

  • Efficient implementation of pre-filtering has been an important issue in video sequence coding, because it can remove camera noise and improve coding efficiency dramatically This paper introduces a novel pre-filtering scheme that is performed inside a video encoder The proposed pre-filtering is based on the approximated generalized Wiener filtering and two-dimensional discrete cosine transform (DCT) factorization. and is achieved by scaling the DCT coefficients of original image blocks for intra block coding and those of motion-compensated error blocks for inter block coding, respectively Even though the pre-filtering operation is embedded in a video encoder, its additional computational complexity is marginal compared to the encoding process, and the overall architecture of the conventional video encoder is maintained In spite of its simplicity, the proposed pre-filtering scheme provides good filtering and coding performance for noisy video sequences.

  • The aim of this study is to compare the adaptability of thermoplasticized injectable gutta-percha technique to the canal walls in ribbon-shaped canals. Thirty resin models simulated ribbon-shape canals were instrumented to #40 using .06 taper Profile systems. Three groups of each 10 resin models were obturated by the lateral condensation technique(LC) and the two thermoplasticized injectable gutta-percha technique; Ultrafil Endoset+Obtura II(EO) and Ultrafil Firmset(UF), respectively. After resin model were kept at room temperature for 4 days, they were resected horizontally with micro-tome at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5mm levels from apex. At each levels. image of resected surface were taken using CCD camera under a stereomicroscope at $\times$40 magnification and stored. Ratio of the area of gutta-percha was obtained by calculating area of gutta-percha cone to the total area of canal using digitized image-ana-Iyzing program. The data were collected then analyzed statistically using One-way ANOVA. The results were as follows. 1 At 1mm levels, there was no statistically significant difference in the mean ratio of gutta-percha among the groups. 2. At 2mm level, EO showed the highest mean ratio of gutta-percha (p<0.05) and there was no significant difference between LC and UF. 3. At 3, 4, 5mm levels, EO and UF had significantly greater mean ratio of gutta-percha than LC(p<0.05) and there was no significant difference between EO and UF. In conclusion, the thermoplasticized injectable gutta-percha techniques demonstrated relatively favorable adaptability to canal walls than lateral condensation technique in ribbon-shaped canals except for 1mm level.

  • In clinical SPECT, FWHM provides quality information of the images obtained under different observing conditions. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the optimum cut off level with comparison of FWHM according to cut off levels in each filter - Band limited, Sheep-Logan, Hanning, Hamming, Low pass cosine, Parazen and Butterworth filter in a SPECT camera. I recorded images along the X, Y, Z-axis with 99mTcO4 point source and measured FWHM with profile curves. In conclusion, all filters showed the longest figures of FWHM with cut off level 0.4, which has the worst image resolution. The images with cut off level 0.7 showed best image resolution. The shortest average of FWHM in MS2 was $11.07\pm0.07mm$ using the Butterworth filter, in MS3 it was $8.44\pm0.19mm$ through using the Hanning filter.

  • The purpose of this study is to offer basic data for the fall prevention by analyzing the kinematic difference between the lower limb joints and the lower extremities in elderly people's walking given the lower-limb resistance exercises. For this, three-dimensional image analysis was carried out by selecting 7 elderly women from over 70s to under 80 years old. To obtain the three-dimensional location coordinates in the lower limb joints and the lower extremities, it shot with 100Hz/s by using MCU(Qualisys, Sweden) camera. The shot image gained raw data on the location coordinates by using QTM(Qualisys, Sweden). As a result of calculating three-dimensional angle by using program of Matlab 6.5, the following conclusions were obtained. Flexion and extension in the thigh and the lower-leg extremities were indicated to be big in motion of flexion after exercising at E5. Foot segment indicated statistical difference while showing eversion at E4. Knee joints showed flexion at E4 after exercising. Ankle joints showed statistical difference while indicating motion in inversion at E3 and in eversion at E4(p<.05).

  • The technique for calibrating standard particles larger than 1 $\mu$m by using an optical array sizing method has been established. The system consists of an optical microscope with transmission light source, a CCD camera, and a computer equipped with a frame grabber. The center distance between two spheres located at both ends of a row which consists of N spheres is measured in terms of pixel numbers, and divided by (N-1) to obtain the average pixel numbers per particle. This value is multiplied by length conversion constant, which has been determined in advance, to obtain the mean diameter of polystylene spheres. The length conversion constant is found from the microscopic image of calibrated standard stage micrometer plate. In order to reduce error in finding center positions of the scale and particles in the image, a software filter which dilates bright (or dark) object has been used. Spheres having nominal size of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10$\mu$m were measured, and the maximum deviation of the measured mean diameter valus from their certified values was 0.7%. Standard particles which is larger than 1 $\mu$m can be calibrated by this method with measuredment uncertainy (k=2) lees than 1.53%.

  • An image is partitioned into non-overlapping $8{\times}8$ blocks fer JPEG compression. A scan order converter is placed before the JPEG encoder to provide $8{\times}8$ blocks from the pixels in raster scan order. In general, its architecture requires two line memories for storing eight lines separately to allow the concurrent memory access by both the camera and JPEG processors. Although such architecture is simple to be implemented, it can be inefficient due to too excessive memory requirement as the image resolution increases. However, no deterministic addressing equation has been developed for scan conversion. In this paper, an effective memory addressing algorithm is proposed that can be devised only by adders and subtracters to implement a scan converter based on the single line memory.

  • Piping systems play an important role in gas and oil transferring system. In the piping system, there are many elements, such as valves and flow meters. In order to check their normal operating conditions, each signal from each element is displayed on the monitor in the pipe control room. By the way, there are several accidental cases in the piping system even if all signals from the local elements are judged to be normal on the monitor in the control room. Further, opposite cases often happen even the monitor shows abnormal while the local elements work normal. To overcome this abnormal functions, it is not so easy to construct the environment in which sensors detecting the working states of all elements installed in the piping system. In this paper, a new non-contact measurement technique which can calculate the elements' delicate displacements by using a PIV(particle image velocimetry) and diagnose their working states by using a neural network is proposed. The measurement system consists of a host computer, a micro system, a telescope and a high-resolution camera. As a preliminary test, the constructed measurement system was applied to measure delicate vibrations of mobile phones. For practical application, a pneumatic system was measured by the constructed system.
