Development of Vehicle Detection System by Using Motion Vector of Corner Point (특징점의 모션벡터를 이용한 차량 검지 시스템 개발)

  • The research about Intelligence Transport Systems(ITS) is actively studied for the traffic problem solution recently. Also, the various methods to detect vehicles moving in the roads are studied. This research using image processing technology is to give the drivers the road information quickly by developing Vehicle Detection System that detects through traffics. Purpose or this research is developing efficient algorithm to facilitate hardware composition. We use morphology method to extract corner points in the images captured by CCD camera. Also, the proposed algorithm detects vehicle's moving area by using motion vectors between corner points. The experiments of the proposed algorithm whose processing time was shortened show good results in vehicle detection on the live road images.

Implementation of Disparity Information-based 3D Object Tracking

  • In this paper, a new 3D object tracking system using the disparity motion vector (DMV) is presented. In the proposed method, the time-sequential disparity maps are extracted from the sequence of the stereo input image pairs and these disparity maps are used to sequentially estimate the DMV defined as a disparity difference between two consecutive disparity maps Similarly to motion vectors in the conventional video signals, the DMV provides us with motion information of a moving target by showing a relatively large change in the disparity values in the target areas. Accordingly, this DMV helps detect the target area and its location coordinates. Based on these location data of a moving target, the pan/tilt embedded in the stereo camera system can be controlled and consequently achieve real-time stereo tracking of a moving target. From the results of experiments with 9 frames of the stereo image pairs having 256x256 pixels, it is shown that the proposed DMV-based stereo object tracking system can track the moving target with a relatively low error ratio of about 3.05 % on average.

A Recognition of the Printed Alphabet by Using Nonogram Puzzle (노노그램 퍼즐을 이용한 인쇄체 영문자 인식)

  • In this paper we embody a system that recognizes the printed alphabet of two font types (Batang, Dodum) inputted by a black-and-white CCD camera and converts it into an editable text form. The image of the inputted printed sentences is binarized, then the rows of each sentence are separated through the vertical projection using the Histogram method, and the height of the characters are normalized to 48 pixels. With the reverse application of the basic principle of the Nonogram puzzle to the individual normalized character, the character is covered with the pixel-based squares, representing the characteristics of the character as the numerical information of the Nonogram puzzle in order to recognize the character through the comparison with the standard pattern information. The test of 2609 characters of font type Batang and 1475 characters of font type Dodum yielded a 100% recognition rate.

The Faulty Detection of COG Using Image Registration (이미지 정합을 이용한 COG 불량 검출)

  • A line scan camera is applied to enhance COG(Chip On Glass) inspection accuracy to be measured a few micro unit. The foreign substance detection among various faulty factors has been the most difficult technology in the faulty automatic inspection step since COG pattern is very miniature and complexity. In this paper, we proposed two step area segmentation template matching method to increase matching speed. Futhermore to detect foreign substance(such as dust, scratch) with a few micro unit, the new method using gradient mask and AND operation was proposed. The proposed 2 step template matching method increased 0.3 - 0.4 second matching speed compared with conventional correlation coefficient. Also, the proposed foreign substance applied masks enhanced $5-8\%$ faulty detection rate compared with conventional no mask application method.

A Digital Hologram Encryption Method Using Data Scrambling of Frequency Coefficients

  • A digital hologram generated by a computer calculation (computer-generated hologram or capture using charge-coupled device [CCD] camera) is one of the most expensive types of content, and its usage is expanding. Thus, it is highly necessary to protect the ownership of digital holograms. This paper presents an efficient visual security scheme for holographic image reconstruction with a low scrambling cost. Most recent studies on optical security concentrate their focus on security authentication using optical characteristics. However, in this paper, we propose an efficient scrambling method to protect a digital hologram. Therefore, we introduce in this paper several scrambling attempts in both the spatial domain and frequency domain on the basis of the results of analyzing the properties of the coefficients in each domain. To effectively hide the image information, 1/4, 1/256, and 1/16,384 of the original digital hologram needs to be scrambled for the spatial-domain scheme, Fresnel-domain scheme, and discrete cosine transform-domain scheme, respectively. The encryption schemes and the analyses in this paper can be expected to be useful in the research on encryption and other works on digital holograms.

  • In this paper we deal with the system design and development of the high-speed automatic precision inspection for the defects of bolts. In order to inspect bolts continuously, we used the conveyor system. Also, this conveyor includes the servo motor and encoder to achieve accurate movement. According to encoder signal, line-scan camera captures the line-by-line image of bolts and after one frame is accumulated, various parameters are calculated and inspected by image processing algorithms. Experimental results using the developed facilities are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed equipment.

  • The road icing forecast and snow detection system using state evaluation algorithm of multi sensor optimizes snow melting system to control spread time and amount of chemical spread application This system operates integrated of contact/non-contact sensor and infrared camera. The state evaluation algorithm of the system evaluates road freezing danger condition and snowfall condition (snowfall intensity also) using acquired data such as temperature/humidity, moisture detection and result of image signal processing from field video footage. In the field experiment, it proved excellent and reliable evaluated result of snowfall state detection rate of 89% and wet state detection rate of 94%.

  • In this study an automatic roiling-coli labeling system using robot vision system and peripheral mechanism is proposed and implemented, which instead of the manual labor to attach labels Rolling-coils in a steel miil. The binary image process for the image processing is performed with the threshold, and the contour line is converted to the binary gradient which detects the discontinuous variation of brightness of rolling-coils. The moment invariants algorithm proposed by Hu is used to make it easy to recognize even when the position of the center are different from the trained data. The position error compensation algorithm of six degrees of freedom industrial robot manipulator is also developed and the data of the position of the center rolling-coils, which is obtained by floor mount camera, are transfered by asynchronous communication method. Therefore even if the position of center is changed, robot moves to the position of center and performs the labeling work successfully. Therefore, this system can be improved the safety and efficiency.

Implementation of Optical-based Measuring Instrument for Contact Wire Geometry in Electric Railway (전기철도의 전차선로 형상검측을 위한 광학기반 검측 장치 구현)

  • We propose an optical-based measuring instrument of catenary system in electric railway. This system was made to utilize line scan camera as inspecting system to measure the stagger and height of overhead contact wire in railway and composed with optical type source and FPGA-based image acquisition system with PCI slot. Vision acquisition software has been used for the application to programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling. To check the validity of our approach for the intended application, we monitored height and stagger in the overhead wire of a high-speed catenary system in Korea. The proposed optical-based measuring instrument to measure the contact wire geometry such as the hight and stagger shows promising on-field applications for online condition motoring. We expect that a new generation of real-time instruments with demanding various conditions motoring requirement in railway can be easily integrated into optical-based measuring instrument system.

A Study on Removal of Salt and Pepper Noise using Deformable Masks Depending on the Noise Density (잡음 밀도에 따라 가변 마스크를 적용한 Salt and Pepper 잡음 제거에 관한 연구)

  • In digital era image processing has been utilized in a variety of media such as TV, camera and smart phone. Typically salt and pepper noise are generated by various causes during the analysis, identification, and processing of image data. Principal filters such as SMF, CWMF, and AMF have been used to remove these noise. But the existing filters fall short of edge preservation and noise elimination in high noise densities. Thus, a processing algorithm, on which the size of deformable mask varies depending on the noise density, is proposed to remove salt and pepper noise effectively in this study. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated compared with the existing methods using PSNR.
