Real-time Object Tracking System using Variable Searching Window (가변 탐색창을 이용한 실시간 객체 추적 시스템)

  • This Paper describes the method of real time object tracking using variable searching window. Monitoring systems require real time object tracking in video, efficiencies depend on environment of monitoring target. To get a position of object using a difference between background image and input image, the system extracts contour and centroid of the object. This method track motion of object using variable searching window from size and position of object. The background imgaes and camera are limited as fixed environment. The test result of proposed method Is 17-23FPS, this shows more fast process speed than average(10-14FPS) of existing object tracking method.

  • In this paper, a video based ship detection method is proposed to monitor port efficiently. Visual saliency map algorithm and mean shift algorithm is applied to detect moving ships don't include background information which is difficult to track moving ships. It is easy to detect ships at the port using saliency map algorithm, because it is very effective to extract saliency object from background. To remove background information in the saliency region, image segmentation and clustering using mean shift algorithm is used. As results of detecting simulation with images of a camera installed at the harbor, it is shown that the proposed method is effective to detect ships.

A Study on the Factors affecting the Purchase of Korean IT Products in Overseas Markets : On Product Valuation Criteria, Cultural Influence, and Consumer Attributes (한국 IT제품 구매에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 : 제품 평가준거, 문화적 영향력, 소비자 특성을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to identify factors affecting the purchase of Korean IT products in overseas markets. The empirical investigation on Chinese and Japanese, which are major overseas markets of Korean IT products and within Korean wave of influence, ascertains that they have had experiences in purchasing Korean IT products such as MP3, hand held phone, and digital camera. In addition, it was revealed that the country image of Korea and valuation of Korean IT products have been enhanced by Korean wave. The result of multiple regression analysis shows that the purchase of Korean IT products is dependent upon social influence, country image, product attributes, preference on Korean wave, and cultural influence. In the separated hypotheses test of China and Japan, the same factors are found to be significant variables affecting the purchase of Korean IT products but practicality, innovativeness, and norms of consumers are found to be significant only in Chinese market. These results imply what should be considered to expedite the export of Korean IT products. In particular, this study finds different factors affecting the purchase of Korean IT products in different countries.

  • A real time system realization for binocular eyeball tracking mouse on the computer monitor being far from 30-40cm is presented in the paper. The processing for searching eyeball and tracking the cursor are that a facial image is acquired by the small CCD camera, convert it into binary image, search for the eye two using the five region mask method in the eye surroundings and the side four points diagonal positioning method is searched the each iris. The tracking cursor is matched by measuring the iris central moving position. The cursor controlling is achieved by comparing two related distances between the iris maximum moving and the cursor moving to calculate the moving distance from gazing position and screen. The experimental results show that the binocular eyeball mouse system is simple and fast to be real time.

Median Filter Applying Segmented Local Mask in Salt and Pepper Noise Environment (Salt and Pepper 잡음 환경에서 세분화된 국부마스크를 적용한 메디안 필터)

  • Recently, the image processing technologies using the public media such as the film, TV, camera and advertisement have been rapidly developed. However, the deterioration occurs with the image in the process of data processing, transmission and storage, and the typical cause of such deterioration is the salt and pepper noise. Typical filters to remove the salt and pepper noise include CWMF(center weighted median filter) and AMF(adaptive median filter) but such filters bring more or less insufficient characteristics of noise removal and visual error as the noise density gets higher. Thus, this paper proposed the median filter which applied the local mask segmented to 4 areas in order to remove the salt and pepper noise effectively and used PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) as a criterion of judgment.

  • The electronic speckle pattern interferometer (ESPI) has been applied to many technical problems such as deformation and displacement measurement, strain visualization and surface roughness monitoring. In this study, we used an ESPI system based on the dual beam speckle interferometer method in order to measure in-plane displacement and vibration mode using the ESIP technique. This research was carried out for the purpose of applying the vibration analysis method employing Electro-Optic holographic interference technique to the vibration analysis of uniform rectangular cantilevers plate(SS400,STS304) with cantilevers span to breadth ratio of 150 by 75. And thickness of 1mm and 0.8mm respectively. We improved the ESPI technique in order to obtain the distribution of displacement component resolved in one direction through a CCD camera combined with an image processing system. To certify and to assess the accuracy in measuring by this ESPI, the results obtained with the speckle method and vibration mode analysis are to be compared with those results by Warbuton's Theoretical expression and vibration made in FEM analysis.

  • Stereoscopic particle image velocimetry is a measurement technique to acquire of three dimensional velocity field by two cameras. With a laser sheet illumination, the third velocity component can be deduced by out-of-plane velocity components using a stereoscopic matching method. Industrial fluid flows are almost three dimensional turbulent flows, so it is necessary to use the stereoscopic PIV measurement method. However the existing stereoscopic PIV system seems hard to use since it is very expensive and complex. In this study we have developed a Stereoscopic Miniature PIV(MPIV) system based on the concept of the Miniature PIV system which we have already developed. In this paper, we address the design and some first experimental results of the stereoscopic PIV system. The Stereoscopic MPIV system features relatively modest performances, but is considerably smaller, cheaper and easy to handle. The proposed Stereoscopic MPIV system uses two one-chip-only CMOS cameras with digital output. Only two other chips are needed, one for a buffer memory and one for an interfacing logic that controls the system. Images are transferred to a personal computer (PC) via its standard parallel port. No extra hardware is required (in particular, no frame grabber board is needed).

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the average droplet size distributions of a GDI spray by simultaneous fluorescence/scattering image technique. GDI engine is recently very popular because of high engine efficiency and low emissions. However, the injectors must have good spray characteristics because the fuel is directly injected into the cylinder. The fuel mixtures used in this study were 2% of fluorobenzene, 9% of DEMA(diethyl-methyl-amine) and 89% of hexane by volume. The system for obtaining 2-D fluorescence/scattering images of fuel spray was constituted of a laser sheet, a doubling prism, optical filters, and an ICCD camera. Using the ratio of the fluorescence to the scattering intensities, SMD distributions were obtained. SMD measured by the technique was compared with that obtained by PDA. It was found that average droplet size was bigger at spray center in the early stage of injection and at the outer periphery of the spray in the late stage of injection.

  • The welding automation in ship manufacturing process,especially in the sub-assembly line is considered to be a difficult job because the welding part is too huge, various, unstructured for a welding robot to weld fully automatically. The weld orocess at the sub-assembly line for ship manufacturing is to joint the various stiffener on the base panel. In order to realize automatic robot weld in sub-assembly line, robot have to equip with the sensing system to recognize the position of the parts. In this research,we developed a vision system to detect the position of base panle for sub-assembly line is shipbuilding process. The vision system is composed of one CCD camera attached on the base of robot, 2-500W halogen lamps for active illumination. In the image processing algorithm,the base panel is represented by two set of lines located at its two corner through hough transform. However, the various noise line caused by highlight,scratches and stiffener,roller in conveyor, and so on is contained in the captured image, this nosie can be eliminated by region segmentation and threshold in hough transform domain. The matching process to recognize the position of weld panel is executed by finding patterns in the Hough transformed domain. The sets of experiments performed in the sub-assembly line show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Vision-based full-field panorama generation by UAV using GPS data and feature points filtering

  • To meet the urgent requirements of safety surveillance from civil engineering management authorities, this study proposes a refined and efficient approach to generate full-field high-resolution panorama of construction sites using camera-amounted UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). GPS (Global Position System) information extraction for pre-registration, feature points filtering for efficient registration and optimal seaming line seeking for fusion are performed in sequence to form the full-field panorama generation framework. Advantages of the proposed method are as follows. First, GPS information can sort images for pre-registration, avoiding inefficient repeated pairwise calculations and matching. Second, the feature points are filtered according to the characteristics of the construction site images to reduce the amount of calculation. The proposed framework is validated on a road construction site and results demonstrate that it can generate an accurate and high-quality full-site panorama for the safety supervision in a much efficient manner.
