Wavelet Transform Technology for Translation-invariant Iris Recognition (위치 이동에 무관한 홍채 인식을 위한 웨이블렛 변환 기술)

  • This paper proposes the use of a wavelet based image transform algorithm in human iris recognition method and the effectiveness of this technique will be determined in preprocessing of extracting Iris image from the user´s eye obtained by imaging device such as CCD Camera or due to torsional rotation of the eye, and it also resolves the problem caused by invariant under translations and dilations due to tilt of the head. This technique values through the proposed translation-invariant wavelet transform algorithm rather than the conventional wavelet transform method. Therefore we extracted the best-matching iris feature values and compared the stored feature codes with the incoming data to identify the user. As result of our experimentation, this technique demonstrate the significant advantage over verification when it compares with other general types of wavelet algorithm in the measure of FAR & FRR.

  • This paper proposes a user interface, on see-through system environment which shows the images via two different cameras, that also ordinary user can control the computer systems or other various processes easily. For that, we include an AR technology to synthesize the virtual button to the image which is captured by the camera real-time. And we were looking for the hand position in the image to judge whether the figure selects the button. And the result of judgment visualizes through changing of the button color. The user can easily interact with the system by selecting the virtual button in the screen with watching the screen and moving her fingers at the air.

  • In this study, We modeled the deck house of the container ship like the representative bluff body and made the model ship. By using the PIV technique, the exhaust gas anti-reflux effect of the deck house backward according to open and close of the Sunken Deck and installation of the deflector in deck house side were measured in circulating water channel. The experiment system consists of hi-speed camera, laser, image board, host computer. The mean velocity vector and time mean axial velocity were found in deck house backward and the results were compared each case.

  • In this paper, an experiment was done where the input device used the linear multiple regression and the sRGB color space to perform a color transformation. The output device used the GOG, GOGO and sRGB for the color transformation. After the input device underwent a color transformation, a $3\;{\times}\;20\;size$ matrix was used in a linear multiple regression and the scanner's color representation of scanner was better than a digital still camera's color representation. When using the sRGB color space, the original copy and the output copy had a color difference of 11. Therefore it was more efficient to use the linear multiple regression method than using the sRGB color space. After the input device underwent a color transformation, the additivity of the LCD monitor's R, G and B signal value improved and therefore the error in the linear formula transformation decreased. From this change, the LCD monitor with the GOG model applied to the color transformation became better than LCD monitors with other models applied to the color transformation. Also, the color difference varied more than 11 from the original target in CRT and LCD monitors when a sRGB color transformation was done in restricted conditions.

Cooperative Robot for Table Balancing Using Q-learning (테이블 균형맞춤 작업이 가능한 Q-학습 기반 협력로봇 개발)

  • Typically everyday human life tasks involve at least two people moving objects such as tables and beds, and the balancing of such object changes based on one person's action. However, many studies in previous work performed their tasks solely on robots without factoring human cooperation. Therefore, in this paper, we propose cooperative robot for table balancing using Q-learning that enables cooperative work between human and robot. The human's action is recognized in order to balance the table by the proposed robot whose camera takes the image of the table's state, and it performs the table-balancing action according to the recognized human action without high performance equipment. The classification of human action uses a deep learning technology, specifically AlexNet, and has an accuracy of 96.9% over 10-fold cross-validation. The experiment of Q-learning was carried out over 2,000 episodes with 200 trials. The overall results of the proposed Q-learning show that the Q function stably converged at this number of episodes. This stable convergence determined Q-learning policies for the robot actions.   • We propose a new type of stereoscopic camera system with a zoom lens module to overcome the backlash for the stability of picture matching and the difficulty of zoom control. This system is designed to control a pair of zoom lens with a rotation lever. In this paper, we present the structural characteristics of our proposed system, and verify that there are no image mismatching at acquired stereo images and the zoom in$\cdot$out is easy to control. In our experiments, we achieve good results that a convergence control is very simple and distortion of images is decreased.

  • The aim of this work is conduct the study on light weight and structural performance improvement of the composite wind power blade. GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic) pre-empted by CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic), the major material of wind power blade, was identified the superiority of mechanical performance through the tensile and fatigue test. SENT(Single Edge Notched Tension) specimen fracture test was conducted on the specimen that laminated together 2 ply CFRP with 4 ply GFRP through DIC(Digital Image Correlation) analysis. The SENT specimen thickness and $a_0/W$ ratio is 1.45 mm and 0.2, respectively. The fracture test accomplished with displacement control with 0.1 mm/min at the room temperature. The experimental apparatus used for the fracture test consisted of a 50kN universal dynamic tester and CCD camera connected to a personal computer (PC), which was used to record images of the specimen surface. Following data acquisition, the images and load-displacements were transferred to the PC, on which the DIC software was implement. The experiment and DIC analysis results show that CFRP/GFRP laminated composite exhibits improvement of the strength, compared with that of the existing blade material. This study shows the result that the strength of CFRP rotor blade of wind turbine satisfies through the experimental and DIC method.

A Basic Study of ROV System Design for Underwater Structure Inspection (수중 구조물 검사를 위한 ROV 시스템 설계 연구)

  • Recently, various tries to apply ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) into underwater are being developed. However, due to underwater environment uniqueness, the additional problem must be taken into account when designing an ROV for the inspection of the underwater structure. This is because a GPS-based information method cannot be applied, and the obtainable image is also dependent on the turbidity. Also, it is necessary to be able to satisfy waterproof and operating speeds in consideration of most practical application environments. This paper describes the design results of the ROV system for underwater structure inspection considering the above problems. The designed system applied INS / DVL for location recognition and was configured to support 3D mapping and stereo camera-based image information using sonar depending on visibility. To satisfy the waterproof, a pressure vessel using a composite material was applied. And over-actuated system using eight thrusters to maintain a stable posture and operating speed was applied also. The designed system was verified by structural analysis and flow analysis also.

  • This paper proposes CORBA-based visual servoing system of humanoid robot. To effectively control the humanoid robot which is connected to network, it needs to define necessary services for visual servoing as distribution object, and realize them in the middleware. For realizing it following services should be addressed. Naming service for searching a necessary service with unique name assigned to each object, image service for supplying image obtained from stereo camera. In the experiment, we show the result of balloon tracking and bursting that the robot tracks balloons as target objects in the real time, and if a balloon stop for a certain time, then the robot bursts the balloon.

  • Recently, there is developed various antenna's models due to increment of wireless communication the need of quantitative study on antenna's measuring technology gets to highlight. In this paper, we propose algorithm of antenna's edge alignment for making automatic measuring system of antenna's characteristics of near-field measurement system of antenna. The proposed algorithm gets the bottom image of antenna from camera, extracts antenna object, and finds the boundary the object. The proposed algorithm calculates distortion of the object using the extracted boundary and the angle to correct this. The proposed algorithm is applied to the standard gain horn antenna. The results show that antenna's object is efficiently extracted and the angle for correcting the error is calculated.
