  • This paper presents a new autonomous kinematic calibration technique by using a laser-vision sensor called "Perceptron TriCam Contour". Because the sensor measures by capturing the image of a projected laser line on the surface of the object, we set up a long, straight line of a very fine string inside the robot workspace, and then allow the sensor mounted on a robot to measure the point intersection of the line of string and the projected laser line. The point data collected by changing robot configuration and sensor measuring are constrained to on a single straght line such that the closed-loop calibration method can be applied. The obtained calibration method is simple and accurate and also suitable for on-site calibration in an industrial environment. The method is implemented using Hyundai VORG-35 for its effectiveness.

  • The network RTK surveying has been widely used in the field of cadastral surveys in recent years, and its use is gradually expanding. As a result of the implementation of GPS static surveys by civilian companies in accordance with the progress of the cadastral surveys and gradual civilian transfer plans and cadastral surveys, there has been an increase in the number of civilian companies performing surveys. In this paper, we describe the process of applying the results of analysis of conformity using the network RTK site calibration function on the local coordinate system to the GPS static surveying of the cadastral reference points in Anyang city. In addition, the measurement results of the network RTK site calibration function and the results of the GPS static surveying network reconciliation in the local coordinate system were compared, and the performance was determined within 0.04m maximum of RMSE(Root Mean Square Error), and further study on the application method is needed.

  • This paper aims to introduce the Daegwallyeong wind turbine test site which is the first official wind turbine test site in Korea. The current status of test site, the characteristics, the projects performed and future plan of this test site are described. The results of wind condition measurements and monitoring system established by the Kangwon National University are presented. The importance of field test is also commented.

  • A calculable potential transformer(PT) with nominal ratio error in wide range of -10% to +10% has been developed on basis of theoretical calculation of ratio error by the number of windings. The developed PT can be used to evaluate the linearity and accuracy of the PT comparator by comparing both the theoretical and experimental values of the PT which have exactly same ratio errors in nominal and calculated values. The PT has been applied for calibration and correction of the PT comparator up to wide ratio error range of -10% to +10%. This portable PT is very convenient to carry to the power industry for the on-site calibration of the PT comparator.

  • This paper presents the calibration service for the temperature sensor via the Internet. The purpose of the calibration service is to provide the teleoperate calibration procedure without skillful technician requirement at the client site. Besides the automatic measurement equipment that eases the operation, the developed software emphasizes the reliability of operation, simplifying the measurement data recording and processing, and achieving quality of the temperature measurements.

  • A linear laser-vision sensor called ‘Perception TriCam Contour' is mounted on an industrial robot and often used for various application of the robot such as the position correction and the inspection of a part. In this paper, a sensor center position calibration is presented for the most accurate use of the robot-Perceptron system. The obtained algorithm is suitable for on-site calibration in an industrial application environment. The calibration algorithm requires the joint sensor readings, and the Perceptron sensor measurements on a specially devised jig which is essential for this calibration process. The algorithm is implemented on the Hyundai 7602 AP robot, and Perceptron's measurement accuracy is increased up to less than 1.4mm.

  • Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) performed field campaigns for absolute radiometric calibration with overpassing of satellite Orbview-3 on Cal/ Val site in Goheung and Daejeon. The performed Cal/Val method is the reflectance-based of vicarious calibration methods. We collected ground-based and meteology data such as temperature, surface pressure and reflectance of targets, and radiosonde data only collected on Goheung. Data collected on each field served as input to radiative transfer codes to generate a top-of-atmosphere(TOA) radiance. Derived TOA is compared with DN of overpassing satellite Orbview-3 to calculate calibration coefficient of gain and offset. Also, This study proposed a proper method to prepare absolute radiometic calibration of KOMPSAT-2 by using experience of Field campaign.

Measurement for Coefficient of Thermal Expansion of Concretes Made with Recycled Concrete Aggregates (재생골재를 함유한 콘크리트의 열팽창계수 측정)

  • PURPOSES : This study was performed to determine a systematic approach for measuring the coefficient of thermal expansion (COTE) of concrete specimens. This approach includes the initial calibration of measurement equipment. Test variables include coarse aggregate types such as natural aggregate, job-site produced recycled concrete aggregate, and recycled aggregate processed from an intermediate waste treatment company. METHODS : First, two cylindrical SUS-304 specimens with a known COTE value of $17.3{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. were used as reference specimens for the calibration of each measurement system. The well-known AASHTO TP-60 COTE apparatus for concrete measurement was utilized in this study. Four different measurement apparatuses were used with each LVDT installed and a calibration value was determined using each measurement apparatus. RESULTS : In the initial experimental stage, calibration values for each measurement apparatus were assumed to be almost identical. However, using the SUS-304 samples as a reference, the calibration values for the four different measurement apparatuses were found to range from 3.49 to $8.86{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. Using different adjusted values for each measurement apparatuses, COTE values for the three different concrete specimens were obtained. The COTE value of concrete made with natural coarse aggregate was $9.91{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$, that of job-site produced recycled coarse aggregate was $10.45{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$, and that of recycled aggregate processed from the intermediate waste treatment company was $10.82{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. CONCLUSIONS : We observed that the COTE value of concrete made from recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) was higher than that of concrete made from natural coarse aggregate. This difference is due to the fact that the total volumetric mortar proportion in the RCA mix is higher than that in the concrete mix made with natural coarse aggregate.

  • This paper introduces the optimum macro-siting of a potential site for an offshore wind farm around Jeju Island using the RDAPS sea wind model. The statistical model was developed by analyzing the sea wind data from RDAPS model, and the meso-scale digital wind map was prepared. To develop the high resolution spatial calibration model, Artificial Neural Network(ANN) models were used to construct the wind and bathymetric maps. Accuracy and consistency of wind/bathymetric spatial calibration models were obtained using analysis of variance. The optimization problem was defined to maximize the energy density satisfying the criteria of maximum water depth and maximum distance from the coastline. The candidate site was selected through Genetic Algorithm(GA). From the results, it is possible to predict roughly a candidate site location for the installation of the offshore wind jam, and to evaluate the wind resources of the proposed site.
