Exponential growth has been observed in nuclear medicine procedures worldwide in the past decades. The considerable increase is attributed to the advance of positron emission tomography and single photon emission computed tomography, as well as the introduction of new radiopharmaceuticals. Although nuclear medicine procedures provide undisputable diagnostic and therapeutic benefits to patients, the substantial increase in radiation exposure to nuclear medicine patients raises concerns about potential adverse health effects and calls for the urgent need to monitor exposure levels. In the current article, model-based internal dosimetry methods were reviewed, focusing on Medical Internal Radiation Dose (MIRD) formalism, biokinetic data, human anatomy models (stylized, voxel, and hybrid computational human phantoms), and energy spectrum data of radionuclides. Key results from many articles on nuclear medicine dosimetry and comparisons of dosimetry quantities based on different types of human anatomy models were summarized. Key characteristics of seven model-based dose calculation tools were tabulated and discussed, including dose quantities, computational human phantoms used for dose calculations, decay data for radionuclides, biokinetic data, and user interface. Lastly, future research needs in nuclear medicine dosimetry were discussed. Model-based internal dosimetry methods were reviewed focusing on MIRD formalism, biokinetic data, human anatomy models, and energy spectrum data of radionuclides. Future research should focus on updating biokinetic data, revising energy transfer quantities for alimentary and gastrointestinal tracts, accounting for body size in nuclear medicine dosimetry, and recalculating dose coefficients based on the latest biokinetic and energy transfer data.
In a previous study, a set of polygon-mesh (PM)-based skin models including a $50-{\mu}m-thick$ radiosensitive target layer were constructed and used to calculate skin dose coefficients (DCs) for idealized external beams of electrons. The results showed that the calculated skin DCs were significantly different from the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) Publication 116 skin DCs calculated using voxel-type ICRP reference phantoms that do not include the thin target layer. The difference was as large as 7,700 times for electron energies less than 1 MeV, which raises a significant issue that should be addressed subsequently. In the present study, therefore, as an extension of the initial, previous study, skin DCs for three other particles (photons, protons, and helium ions) were calculated by using the PM-based skin models and the calculated values were compared with the ICRP-116 skin DCs. The analysis of our results showed that for the photon exposures, the calculated values were generally in good agreement with the ICRP-116 values. For the charged particles, by contrast, there was a significant difference between the PM-model-calculated skin DCs and the ICRP-116 values. Specifically, the ICRP-116 skin DCs were smaller than those calculated by the PM models-which is to say that they were under-estimated-by up to ~16 times for both protons and helium ions. These differences in skin dose also significantly affected the calculation of the effective dose (E) values, which is reasonable, considering that the skin dose is the major factor determining effective dose calculation for charged particles. The results of the current study generally show that the ICRP-116 DCs for skin dose and effective dose are not reliable for charged particles.

In order to resolve the trimming difficulty in rotor CFD calculations, a high-efficiency and improved "delta trim method" is established to compute the blade control settings that are necessary to identify the blade motion. In this method, a simplified model which combines the blade element theory and different inflow models is employed to calculate the control settings according to the target aerodynamic forces, then it is coupled into a CFD solver with unsteady Navier-Stokes equations by the delta methodology, which makes the control settings and aerodynamics calculated and updated in the meantime at every trim cycle. Different from the previous work, the current research combines the inflow model based on prescribed wake theory. Using the method established, the control settings and aerodynamic characteristics of Helishape 7A, AH-1G and Caradonna-Tung rotors are calculated. The influence of different inflow models on trimming calculations is analyzed and the computational efficiency of the current "delta trim method" is compared with that of the "CFD-based trim method". Furthermore, for the sake of improving the calculation efficiency, a novel acceleration factor method is introduced to accelerate the trimming process. From the numerical cases, it is demonstrated that the current "delta trim method" has higher computational efficiency than "CFD-based trim method" in both hover and forward flight, and up to 70% of the amount of calculation can be saved by current "delta trim method" which turns out to be satisfactory for engineering applications. In addition, the proposed acceleration factor shows a good ability to accelerate the trim procedure, and the prescribed wake inflow model is always of better stability than other simple inflow models whether the acceleration factor is utilized in trimming calculations.

Rapid economic development and urban population growth have been increasing the necessity for underground space exploration and utilization due to the need of upgrading and expanding the existing infrastructures. TBM has been widely used to construct underground structures with high advance rate and minimal ground disturbance. Two important design parameters, which are available thrust capacity and cutterhead torque, should be estimated for any project in addition to proper selection of TBM type. However, the conventional thrust force and torque estimation model only depends on the empirical equation, which hinders the design process of the optimal thrust hydraulic system and the appropriate hydraulic components. In this study, four thrust and torque calculation models are derived and explained. For TBM design practice, the four estimation models are compared and discussed.
This paper suggests a DCS (Distributed Control System) model for steam temperature system of the thermal power plant. The model calculated within sectional range is linear. In order to calculate mathematical models, the system is partitioned into two or three sectors according to its thermal conditions, that is, saturated water/steam and superheating state. It is divided into three sections; water supply, steam generation and steam heating loop. The steam heating loop is called 'superheater' or steam temperature system. Water spray supply is the control input. A first order linear model is extracted. For linear approach, sectional linearization is achieved. Modeling methodology is a decomposition-synthetic technique. Superheater is composed of several tube-blocks. For this block, linear input-output model is to be calculated. Each tiny model has its transfer function. By expanding these block models to total system, synthetic DCS linear models are derived. Control instrument include/exclude models are also considered. The resultant models include thermal combustion conditions, and applicable to practical plant engineering field.

The influence of boundary condition of the bodies with gas flows is one of the most important problems in high-altitude aerodynamics. In this paper presents the results of the calculation of aerodynamic characteristics of aerospace vehicle using Monte-Carlo method based on three different gas-surface interaction models - Maxwell model, Cercignani-Lampis-Lord (CLL) model and Lennard-Jones (LJ) potential. These models are very sensitive for force and moment coefficients of aerospace vehicle in the hypersonic free molecular flow. The models, method and results can be used for new generation aerospace vehicle design.

In this paper we proposed channel models for terrestrial ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) DTV (Digital Television) system in South Korea. For the purpose of this model, we research on propagation model involved in terrestrial DTV system and analyze out field test data of terrestrial DTV broadcasting carried out in korean Broadcasting System. Using the measured values of received field strength, newly proposed Path-loss models have more correctly than that of conventional Path-loss models. This models can be utilized usefully for the efficient ATSC DTV system implementation requiring accurate link-budget calculation

Simulation models have been developed to predict the overall behavior of the CANDU plant systems during normal operational transients. For real time simulation purpose, simplified thermal hydraulic models are applied with appropriate system control logics, which include primary heat transport system solver with its component models and secondary side system models. The secondary side models are mainly used to provide boundary conditions for primary system calculation and to accomodate plant power control logics. Also, for the effective use of simulation package, hardware oriented basic simulation network has been established with appropriate graphic display system. Through validation with typical plant power maneuvering cases using proven plant performance analysis computer code, the present simulation package shows reasonable capability in the prediction of the dynamic behavior of plant variables during operational transients of CANDU plant, which means that this simulation tool can be utilized as a basic framework for full scope simulation network through further improvements.

Physical interconnect such as Printed Circuit Board(PCB) traces introduces new challenges for parameter extraction and delay calculation for high-speed system design. PCB traces are dominated by frequency dependent LC propagation which makes precharacterization difficult for all possible configurations. Moreover, simulating the transient behavior of the trace for noise and delay analysis requries the combined used of a variety of models and techniques for efficiently handling lossy, low-loss, frequency dependent, and coupled transmission lines together with lumped elements. In this paper we explain how the frequency dependence caused by ground plane proximity and skin effects can be modeled using the adstracted models. These abstracted (lumped) models are SPICE-compatible and can be simulated in time-domain, along with precharacterized lumped parasitic elements and nonlinear driver and load models.

This study is carried out in order to evaluate the performances of the Reynolds stress turbulence models such as SSG and GL models in the calculation of separated flow over backward-facing stepp. In addition, two slow return-to-isotropy models, YA and Rotta models combined with rapid part of SSG model are also tested. The finite volume method is used to discretize the governing differential equations, and the power-law scheme is used to approximate the convection terms. The SIMPLE algorithm is used for pressure correction in the governing equations. The results show that SSG model gives the better prediction near the reattachment point than GL model. In cases that the rapid term of SSG model is combined with Rotta and YA slow models, the results show the better predictions of stress components in recirculation zone, but indicate inaccuracy in the predictions of mean velocity.
