폐 생물자원을 이용한 $Cu^{2+},\;Ni^{2+},\;Pb^{2+}$의 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Removal of $Cu^{2+},\;Ni^{2+},\;Pb^{2+}$ by Using Waste Bio Resources)

  • 수용액으로부터 중금속의 제거에 소나무수피, 배추, 게 껍질을 이용하였다. 흡착과 이온교환에 의한 중금속의 제거를 조사하기 위해서 시간, 초기농도변화, 흡착제량 변화에 따른 흡착 효율을 조사하고 각각의 실험마다 pH 변화를 측정하였다. 그 결과 배추가 가장 우수한 흡착력을 보였고, 그 다음으로 게 껍질이 우수한 흡착력을 보였다. 특이할 만 한 사항은 배추와 소나무수피의 흡착 실험시 pH는 감소하나 게 껍질의 경우에는 pH가 오히려 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

음식물 쓰레기를 줄이기 위한 체계화 연구(I) -상용식품의 폐기율 조사와 급식소의 유형별 음식물 쓰레기량과 교육에 의한 개선효과- (The Systematic Study on Reduction of Food Waste Products(I) -Survey on Waste Rates of Frequently Consumed Korean Foods and Effect of Education on Kitchen Wastes of Institutional Foodservices -)

  • This research was conducted to estimate waste rates of 69 food items after pre-preparation and amounts of food wastes disposed and it's reduction effect by education in some institutional foodservices for reduction of the food wastes. The result are as follows: 1. The waste rates were 55.40% for sweet corn, 5.73% for potatoes, 19.14% for sweet potatoes, and 33.47% for chestnuts. 2. The waste rates of fruits were 0.21-49.36%. Food items with over 40% waste rate were banana, watermelon, and pineapple. 3. The waste rates of vegetables were 1.14-52.90%. The number of foods with under 10% waste rate were 14 items(red pepper, green pepper, chard, and so on), 10-20% was 9 items(perilla leaf, chinese cabbage, ginger root, and so on), 20-30% was 5 items(root of chinese bellflower, garlic, radish-leaves, burdock, welsh onion-large type), 30-40% was 3 items(shepherd's purse, head lettuce, kale) and over 40% was 3 items(water dropwort, crown daisy, mallow). 4. The waste rates were 24.30% in chicken, 9.53-13.79% in eggs, and 9.30-55.32% in fishes. The waste rates of vegetables and fishes were higher than those of other food groups. 5. There were significantly different in amount of food wastes disposed (g/person/day) to institutional foodservices (hospital>industrial institution> Korean restaurant>elementary school). The amount of food wastes disposed, especially amount in pre-preparation phase, after education for reduction of food wastes was significantly reduced. Since these study results show significant deviations in food waste rates and education effect, there should be more studies for standard waste rates of each food and systematic education method for reduction of food wastes.

음식물 쓰레기를 먹이로 한 지렁이분립이 채소류(열무와 엇갈이배추) 생육에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Vermicast Application of Earthworm Feeding Food Waste in Vegetable Plants (Radish and Chinese Cabbage) Growth)

  • 본 연구는 공동생활주택에서 발생하는 음식물 쓰레기를 지렁이먹이로 공급하기 위하여 먹이로 조제하는 방법을 제시하고 생산한 분변토를 텃밭이나 옥상 농원 등에 채소 재배 용도로 사용하기 위해 지렁이 분변토 적정 혼합비율을 규명하였다. 음식물쓰레기는 수거 후 kg 당 수돗물 15L로 세척하여 햇빛에 물기가 제거될 정도로 건조하여 달걀껍질을 혼합하여 65~70%로 수분을 조절한 것을 지렁이 먹이로 사용하였다. 처리는 무처리(일반 채소재배용 상토, 서울바이오), 100% 지렁이 분립, 지렁이 분립을 상토(서울바이오상토)에 30, 50, 70%를 혼합하여 재배토양을 조제하였다. 각 처리구에 열무(청농춘하열무, 청농(주))와 엇갈이배추(대농, 대농종묘(주))를 공시하여 2012년 6월 4일부터 9월 15일까지 서울시 서초구 내곡동 서울특별시 농업기술센터 플라스틱하우스 내에서 재배하였다. 수확 후 생육특성 조사결과 열무의 경우 지렁이 분립 70% 혼합 처리구에서 엽폭은 7.85cm로 고도로 유의성이 있었고, 지상부 생체중을 조사한 결과 지렁이 분립 혼합비율 70% 처리구는 중량이 식물체당 129.92mg로 높았고, 지상부 건조중도 지렁이 분립 혼합비율 70%처리구가 10.25mg으로 유의성이 있었다. 열무의 생육특성 조사결과 지렁이 분립 70%처리구가 생육이 가장 적합했다. 엇갈이 배추의 생육특성 조사결과 초장은 지렁이 분립 50% 처리구에서 24.32cm로 가장 길게 나타났고 고도의 유의성이 있었다. 엽폭은 지렁이 분립 50% 처리구에서 9.79cm로 유의하였다. 지상부 생체중은 지렁이분립 50% 처리구에서 식물체당 185.08mg으로 무거웠으며, 지하부 생체중은 30, 70% 처리구가 각각 24.09mg, 23.96mg으로 높게 조사되었다. 지상부 및 지하부 건조중은 50% 처리구가 각각 15.63mg, 7.03mg으로 가장 높게 측정되었다. 엇갈이배추의 생육 특성 조사 결과 지렁이 분립 50% 처리구가 생육에 효과적이었다. 본 연구 결과 음식물 쓰레기를 지렁이 먹이로 공급하여 생산한 분변토를 텃밭이나 옥상 농원 등에 봄, 가을철 주요 채소인 열무와 엇갈이배추의 재배 용토에 혼합하여 활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

배추 절임 중 반복사용 폐염수의 여과처리 효과 (Effects of Filtration on the Characteristics of Reused Waste Brine in Kimchi Manufacturing)

  • 김치 공장에서 배추 절임염수의 반복사용으로 인해 발생하는 고농도 폐염수에 의한 환경오염을 방지하고 이를 공업용수로 재활용하는 방법을 모색하고자 모래와 활성탄을 여과장치에 활용하는 가능성을 조사하였다. 배추를 5회 반복 절임수 사용 방식으로 절임하면서 발생하는 폐염수의 특성을 염도, 가용성 고형물, pH, 혼탁도, COD 및 미생물 총균수에 대해 측정하였다. 그리고 3회 및 5회 절임에 사용한 폐염수를 모래(1차여과)와 활성탄(2차여과)에 통과시켜 여과한 다음, 여과 전후의 폐염수특성을 측정하여 폐염수에 대한 여과효과를 조사하였다. 그 결과 염도, 가용성 고형물, 혼탁도 및 COD는 절임을 반복함에 따라 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으나, 여과처리에 의해 그 수치들이 현저하게 낮아지는 효과를 나타내었다. 또한 절임이 반복될수록 염수의 pH는 낮아져서 산성을 띠다가, 모래관 처리에 의해 중성의 pH 값을 가지게 되었고, 활성탄 통과 후에는 약알칼리성의 pH 값으로 증가하였다. 미생물 수 측정 결과는, 절임 반복에 의해 미생물 번식이 급격히 증가하였다가 여과처리에 의해 초기염수 수준으로 낮아졌으며, 활성탄에 의한 흡착효과도 뚜렷하게 관찰되었다.

유기성 폐기물의 산발효 특성 및 알카리 전처리에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of Acid Fermentation and Alkali Pretreatment of Organic Wastes)

  • It is difficult to task to achieve high biological nutrient removal from municipal wastewater because of low organic content. Volatile fatty acids(VFAs) produced from acid fermentation of food wastes can be utilized as external carbon sources for the biological nutrient process. Significant reduction and stabilization of the food wastes can also be obtained from the acid fermentation. The objective of this study is to evaluate characteristics of acid fermentation of the food wastes. Results obtained from the batch experiment of various organic wastes showed that the food wastes had high potential to be used as an external carbon source because of the largest production of the VFAs with low nitrogen and phosphorus content. The fish waste was found to be the next possible organic waste, while the others such as radish cabbage and molasses waste showed high VFAs consumption potential as a results of high nitrogen and phosphorus content. alkaline hydrolysis of the food waste was carried out using NaOH prior to the acid fermentation. As the alkali addition increased, solubilization of the organics as well as TSS reduction increased. However, fraction of soluble COD to total COD became stable after a sharp increase. Alkali addition greater than 0.5g NaOH per g TS resulted in significant increase in pH.

영양교육이 음식물쓰레기 감량화에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Nutrition Education on Food Waste Reduction)

  • This research was performed to evaluate the effects of nutrition education on food waste reduction at school food service. A dietitian conducted nutrition education on environmental protection and proper eating attitude and poor eating habits for 3rd and 5th graders at an elementary school in Seoul. The effectiveness of the education was evaluated by surveying the students before and after the education; 375 responses were analyzed. A questionnaire was designed to compare changes of the students' attitudes and plate waste before and after education. Plate wastes of boiled black rice(p<0.05), potato soup(p<0.05), amaranthus herb salad(p<0.01), and cabbage kimchi(p<0.05) decreased significantly after education. Students' eating attitudes improved significantly(t= -6.22, p<0.01) after nutrition education. Major reasons the students did not eat all foods they were served were large portion sizes (30.59%), low menu preference (29.79%), and tastes (17.82%). The menus with high plate waste rates were cooked vegetable items (35.64%) and soup items (26.6%). After education, students' attitudes on ‘food waste pollutes the Earth(p=0.013)’, ‘food preparation for birthday parties(p<0.01)’, and ‘restaurant selection for eating out (p<0.01)’ changed significantly. After education, plate waste and portion sizes that the students perceived were not negatively correlated. In conclusion, nutrition education on proper eating habits and source reduction is an effective method to reduce food waste generation and to improve students' eating attitudes and awareness on environment.

Effect of different types of biochar on the growth of Chinese cabbage (Brassica chinensis)

  • Biochar is the carbon solid produced through the pyrolysis of a biomass from organic sources such as agricultural waste, animal manure, and sludge under limited or anaerobic conditions. Biochar has the effect of reducing greenhouse gases through the carbon sequestration method; additionally, biochar is known to function as a soil amendment. This experiment was conducted to evaluate the application of biochar on the growth characteristics of Chinese cabbage at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, Korea. The Chinese cabbage was grown for 50 days in a glasshouse in pots. A pruning branch was used to produce the bead and pellet forms of biochar through pyrolysis. The biochar was added to the soil at 0, 2, and 5% by weight. The Chinese cabbage with the 2% treatment of the bead form of biochar had the highest fresh weight ($149.43{\pm}15.92g\;plant^{-1}$) which was increased by 10% compared to the control ($136.91{\pm}31.46g\;plant^{-1}$). Moreover, for the 5% treatment of the bead form of biochar ($60.91{\pm}9.82g\;plant^{-1}$), the growth decreased by 57% compared to the control. As the content of the bead form of biochar increased, the shoot dry weight, leaf number, leaf length and lead width that appeared decreased. An increase in the total organic matter, Avail. $P_2O_5$, Ex. cation and EC was observed when the biochar content was increased. Our results support the application of 2% biochar in the bead form for increased growth of Chinese cabbage.

충남 일부 지역 초등학생의 학교 급식 잔반 실태 조사에 대한 연구 (Study on Levels of Plate Waste by Elementary School Students in Chungnam Province)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the dietary attitudes, dish preferences, and plate waste status of elementary school students in Chungnam province. Questionnaires fearuring dietary attitudes, dish preferences, and plate waste measurements over 4 days were administered to 278 elementary school students (3~6th grades; boys 124, girls 154). Regarding plate waste of food, subjects showed the following in decreasing order: soup > vegetable > fish > kimchi > rice > meat. Regarding food preference, cooked rice showed the highest preference among rice dishes, whereas both boys and girls preferred stir-fried rice among one-dish meals. For soup, soup cooked with mear was highly preferred. However, soup with vegetables was preferred less. For meat, soy sauce-glazed chicken and bulgogi were the most preferred boys and girls. In addition, boys indicated a higher preference for most of the meat dishes than girls. Among the many types of kimchi, Chinese cabbage kimchi (Baechu Kimchi) was the most preferred. For the school meals, the served and consumed amounts by boys were higher than those of girls. However, there was no significant difference in plate waste between the boys and girls. To improve management of school meals, dietitians should understand factors that influence students' food preferences.

Insecticidal Effect of Neem Cake Extracts on Cabbage Pests, Aphis gossypii and Pluetella xylostella

  • In organic agriculture, choose of effective and cheap bio-pesticide is very important. The authors developed an insecticidal extract from neem cake, waste of neem oil from kernel, and applied as a bio-pesticide. Bio-pesticide neem cake extracts experiment on cabbage pest was carried out at Wonju Agricultural Technology and Extension Center from 11 March to 30 May 2003. There were six treatments with three replications, using completely randomized design. Treatments involved three and six sprays of synthetic pyrethroid pesticide cypermethrin 10 EC at the dilution rate of 2.2 mL $L^{-1}$ of distilled water and four, five and six sprays of bio-pesticide neem at the dilution rate of 13.3 mL $L^{-1}$ of distilled water, and untreated control. For each treatment, designated sprayings were done at 7 days interval. Pre-spray data showed that the plants in all the experimental plots were already infested with aphid (Aphis gossypii), and diamondback moth (Pluetella xylostella). The results indicated that all neem pesticide treatments were more effective in insecticidal activity than the untreated control and the chemical treatments in controlling aphids and diamondback moth. Among the three neem treatments, there were no significant differences between them.

효소적 분해에 의한 배추부산물 hemicellulose 분획으로부터 수용성 식이섬유소 함유 가수분해물의 생산 (Production of Enzymatic Hydrolysate Including Water-soluble Fiber from Hemicellulose Fraction of Chinese Cabbage Waste)

  • 본 연구에서는 농산부산물인 배추 겉잎의 이용성을 증진시키기 위하여 배추의 불용성 식이섬유인 hemicellulose를 분획한 후 효소 처리하여 수용성 식이섬유를 함유한 가수분해물을 생산하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 다양한 pH, 온도, 기질농도 및 효소농도에서 hemicellulose 분획을 효소 처리한 후 환원당 함량을 측정한 결과, pH 5.0, $40^{\circ}C$, 효소농도 45 unit (Shearzyme plus), 21 unit Viscozyme L)의 조건으로 가수분해 했을 때 가장 높은 분해율을 나타내었다. 선정된 조건으로 72시간 가수분해하여 수율을 측정한 결과, Shearzyme plus 및 Viscozyme L 처리 시 각각 22.64%와 24.73%의 수율을 보였다. 또한 알코올 불용성 식이섬유의 겔크로마토그래피에 의한 분자량 분포를 확인한 결과, Shearzyme plus 및 Viscozyme L에 의해 생성된 식이섬유는 반응 시간이 증가함에 따라 저분자화 되는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과에서 배추 부산물 hemicellulose 분획을 효소로 가수분해함으로써 불용성 식이섬유가 저분자화 되어 수용성 식이섬유로 전환됨을 확인하였으며, 생산된 식이섬유소 함유 가수분해물은 기능성 식품 및 식품가공 분야에 다양하게 이용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
