An implant-supported removable partial denture for a patient with post-inflammatory scar contracture caused by burn complications: a clinical report

  • The scars and contracture around the oral-facial region may cause difficulty in prosthodontic treatment to restore esthetics and function for the patients, who suffered severe burns. This article presents a technique that uses a fixed partial denture prepared with a conventional milling technique and an attachment to support anterior cantilever removable partial denture, thereby providing a more esthetically acceptable and functional result.

When propane gas burns by gas table, did waste heat into measurement compensation with carbon dioxide that it happens. In measured all type of exhaust fan, discharge performance of carbon dioxide and waste heat was high there are been much displacement.   • Sphere anemometry technique is re-visited for low gas velocity measurements during full-scale fire tests. This technique has the advantage of requiring only one channel per sphere for data acquisition, in addition to being cheap and rugged, The results indicate that the technique is useful for small fuel load burns with low radiation levels. For large fuel loads, the usefulness is up to sprinkler activation temperatures.

  • Purpose: Since Rheinwald and Green laid the foundation of epidermal cell culture technology in 1975, many clinicians and scientists have attempted to prove the effectiveness of cultured epidermal autologous(CEA) or homogenetic(CEH) grafts in the wound healing process. In contrast to CEA which cultured from a patient's skin on demand, Cultured Epidermal Homograft(CEH) can be readily available to use on cleaned wounds. In this study, we conducted a controlled clinical trial in order to confirm the effectiveness of CEH in treating partial-thickness 2nd degree burn wounds. Methods: From July 2003 to January 2004 at Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, we performed a clinical trial in which 35 patients who suffered from 2nd degree burns were enrolled. Wounds were randomly divided into two parts, control and test sites. Test sites were treated with allogeneic keratinocyte sheets ($Kaloderm^{(R)}$, Tegoscience Inc.), a CEH commercialized in Korea. Results: All wounds healed completely without any major complication. The complete healing took $8.3{\pm}2.8$($mean{\pm}S.D.$) days in the test sites as opposed to $11.7{\pm}3.3days$ in the control sites. Conclusion: Based on these results, we concluded that CEH accelerates re-epithelialization of partial thickness burn wounds and CEH can be an safe alternative to skin grafts for 2nd degree burns.

정지궤도복합위성 원지점엔진 분사계획 최적화 연구 (Optimization of GEO-KOMPSAT-2 Apogee Engine Burn Plan)

  • 항공우주연구원은 천리안위성의 임무를 승계하기 위해 2018년과 2019년 발사를 목표로 정지궤도복합위성 2A와 2B를 개발하고 있다. 정지궤도복합위성은 아리안 V 발사체에 의하여 발사되어 전이궤도(Transfer Orbit)에 전입한 후 여러 번의 액체원지점엔진분사를 통하여 표류궤도에 진입한다. 액체원지점엔진의 분사시기, 분사시간, 각 분사간의 간격 등은 위성이 목표하는 표류궤도에 진입할 수 있도록 선정되고 적용된다. 정지궤도복합위성의 경우 표류궤도 진입을 위하여 4회의 액체원지점엔진 분사를 수행할 계획이다. 본 논문에서는 미리 정의된 제한조건을 고려하고 외부 교란력을 고려하여 정지궤도복합위성의 액체원지점엔진 분사계획을 수립하였다. 여기서는 단일계산(Single Shot) 방식과 반복계산에 의한 최적화 기법, 두 가지 접근을 고려하였다. 최적의 해를 얻기 위해 Focusleop이라고 하는 발사초기임무해석 도구를 적용하였다.

공학설계 교육과정의 설계방식 분석 - P대학 공학설계 교육과정을 중심으로 - (Analysis of Design Pattern of Engineering Design Curriculum)

  • 본 연구에서는 교육과정 설계모형에 기초하여 기계공학부의 전공교육과정 중 공학설계 교육과정의 설계방식을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 Drake & Burns(2004)가 제시한 교육과정 조직요소간의 관계모형과 Toohey(1999)의 대학교육과정 설계유형을 분석의 틀로 활용하였다. 교육과정의 조직요소간의 관계와 설계유형을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육과정 조직요소간의 관계는 각 과목의 교육목표를 달성하기 위하여, 설계의 구체적 정보, 주제와 주요 개념의 순서로 관련된 지식을 습득하고, 공학설계에 관련된 기초기능, 범학문적 기능과 고급 기능을 순차적으로 향상시킬 수 있게 설계되어 있다. 둘째, 분석대상인 창의적 공학설계, 설계 및 제작과제와 졸업설계 및 제작과제의 교육과정 설계유형은 프로젝트, 탐구, 문제 중심설계의 형태를 취하고 있다. 본 연구결과는 공학설계 교육과정의 교육내용들 간의 연계성을 검토하기 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

방사선 영상장치 모니터링하 이소성 석회화 절제술 (C-arm Guided Surgical Excision of Heterotopic Calcification)

  • Purpose: Heterotopic calcification is the abnormal deposition of calcium salts in tissues other than bone and enamel, and it occurs in the form of dystrophic calcification or metastatic calcification. This deposition can occur under many conditions, but in some rare cases, it may develop in burns and nonhealed scars. It is difficult to treat the combination of heterotopic calcification and ulceration in scar tissues by using conservative therapy and to determine the margin of excision in such cases. Our study proposes the use of intraoperative C-arm-guided mapping of lesions with heterotopic calcification, and adequate excision of ulcers in chronic scars where heterotopic calcification is also observed. Methods: This study included 2 patients and was conducted from January 2010 to July 2010. The first patient was a 63-year-old woman who presented with atypical calcium deposits and chronic ulceration in the lower one-third region of the right leg. The second patient was a 38-year-old man who presented with a nonhealing ulcer that had developed on the right leg 3 months earlier he had a history of 40% scalding burns on the entire body. Surgery is the most reliable method for treating heterotopic calcification therefore, both patients were treated using intraoperative C-arm-guided marginal mapping of heterotopic calcification, followed by release of contracture, and eventually split-thickness skin grafting. Results: Plain radiographs of the leg showed spotty radiopaque areas in the hard part of the scar well superficial to the underlying bones. Histopathological analysis revealed multiple foci of calcified deposits, increased fibrosis, and inflammation in the scar tissue. Surgery-related complications were not observed. Conclusion: C-arm guided excision of calcified scars and the release of contracture can cure nonhealing ulcers and may therefore prevent recalcification.
