금속섬유 버너를 채택한 0.5 t/h 급 무연소실 보일러의 열전달 특성 (Heat Transfer Characteristics of 0.5 t/h Class Non-Furnace Boiler with a Metal Fiber Burner)

  • 산업용 보일러의 열효율을 높이고 체적을 줄이기 위하여 0.5 t/h 급 무연소실 보일러를 개발하였다. 별도의 연소실이 없이 증발관이 화염에 노출된 구조에서 화염 안정성을 확보하기 위하여 금속섬유버너를 채택하였다. 증발관은 관군의 형태로 버너 하류에 배치되고 하류에 설치된 증발관에는 휜을 설치하여 열교환 면적을 확보하였다. 무연소실 보일러는 관군에 대한 열전달 관계식으로부터 설계하였고 본 연구에서는 시제품에 대한 실험 및 보일러 내부의 유동 및 열전달에 대한 수치해석을 수행하여 관군에 대한 관계식을 적용한 설계와 비교하였다.

톱밥과 왕겨로 제조된 세라믹을 첨가한 한지벽지의 물성 (Properties of Hanji Wallpaper by Incorporating Ceramics from Wood and Rice-husk)

  • This study was carried out to explore a new application of traditional Hanji and obtain fundamental properties for producing Hanji wallpaper by incorporating ceramics from wood and rice-husk as an interior building material. The results of properties determined were summarized as follows: The addition of ceramics in Hanji paper reduced its apparent density, but increased bulk density due to the ceramic particles distributed on the surface and inside the fiber of Hanji wallpapers. In particular, woodceramic particles were specifically distributed on the fiber surface, while particles of rice-husk ceramics were permeated into the inside surface of fibers. The density of rice-husk ceramics were greater than that of woodceramics. The physical properties of Hanji wallpapers, such as breaking strength, wet breaking strength, burst strength, tear index and folding endurance were deteriorated with the addition of ceramics. However, the addition of woodceramics in the Hanji wallpaper resulted in better strength in most cases than that of rice-husk ceramics, except tear strength. Therefore, an optimum addition level of woodceramics into the wallpaper was found to be 5% on the basis of intensity. The addition of ceramics also prolonged the combustion time because it lowered air permeability and brightness of the wallpaper.

Development and Analysis of Dry Forming System for Innovation of Papermaking Technology

  • This study was conducted to develop dry forming technology and evaluate the properties of dry formed paper made from Hw-BKP. A dry forming mold (DFM) was developed to observe the phenomena of dry forming and evaluate the properties of formed papers. To upgrade the DFM a dry forming system (DFS) was developed. This DFS was designed to improve the formation of dry formed papers and enhance the productivity of dry forming. Dry forming gave papers with greater bulk and opacity than wet forming. Tensile strength of dry formed paper was greater than that of conventional wet formed handsheet when they were made from the same dry disintegrated fibers. But tensile strength of conventional wet formed handsheet made from beaten fiber was much greater than that of dry formed paper made from dry disintegrated fibers. When solvent dried beaten fibers were used in dry forming, the tensile strength of dry formed papers reached 73.5% of the wet formed handsheets made from beaten fiber. It showed that dry forming has a significant potential in improving strength properties when proper preparation of fibers and appropriate humidification, pressing, and drying processes are employed.

상이한 몰 비율의 LB 공융용매 처리에 따른 BCTMP 섬유 및 수초지 특성의 변화 (Changes of BCTMP Fibers and Handsheets Properties by the Treatment of LB DES at Different Molar Ratios)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of deep eutectic solvent (DES) treatment on BCTMP fibers and handsheets properties. DES was prepared using lactic acid and betaine (LB), and the molar ratio of these two components mixtures was controlled to 2:1 (LB 2:1) and 5:1 (LB 5:1). As results, 2% of BCTMP pulp (o.d. weight) was extracted when it was treated by LB 5:1 at $50^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours, stirring constantly at 120 rpm. In contrast, lignin was not extracted when BCTMP was mildly treated by the LB DES mixed with 50% of distilled water at the reacting condition of temperature $60^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours using water bath. These results indicate that conditioned water content and adequate reaction time are needed to achieve effective extraction of lignin. It was also found that stiffening of cellulose fiber due to the mild treatment of LB DES to BCTMP fiber leads to the increase of paper bulk without the loss of strength.

종이 기저귀로부터 재생된 fluff 펄프와 그 수초지 특성 분석 (Properties of Fluff Pulp and Handsheet Recycled from Paper Diaper)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the reusability of the fluff pulp recycled from paper diaper. To do this, the physical and optical properties of each handsheet made from these fluff pulp sample as well as the properties of the fiber recycled from paper diaper were analyzed and compared with those of non-recycled diaper fluff pulp samples and conventional pulp samples. These comparisons show that the characteristics of fiber such as length, width, curl, kink of the pulp recycled from paper diaper were similar to those of non-recycled diaper fluff pulp as well as to those of commercial pulp. The fine content of recycled diaper fluff pulp was lower than that of other pulp samples, while the ash content of the former was higher than that of the latter. Furthermore, it was also found that the bulk of handsheets made from the recycled fluff pulp was higher than that of other pulp samples, while the formation of the former was worse than that of the latter. The mechanical properties of the handsheet sample made from the recycled diaper fluff pulp was higher than those of the unused diaper fluff pulp and was lower that those of commercial fluff pulp and softwood tissue pulp handsheet. But, it was higher than that of hardwood tissue pulp handsheet. The optical properties of recycled diaper fluff pulp handsheet was lower than those of each handsheet samples made from other pulps due to its low fine content.

The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide Bleaching on the Properties of Unbleached Hardwood Kraft Pulp Adsorbed with Birchwood Xylan

  • Xylans are polysaccharides present in large amounts in cell walls of land plants. However, during kraft cooking, a high portion of hemicelluloses including xylans are dissolved in the cooking liquor. In the current trend for a more effective utilization of biomass, attention has been paid to the exploitation of xylans as strength-enhancing additives for paper. It is believed that surface xylan adds flexibility to the cell wall/fiber surface, resulting in stronger fiber-fiber joints or greater contact area between the fibers. Accordingly, there is proposal for a new pulping process involving the extraction of xylan prior to pulping, followed by their re-adsorption on the unbleached pulp. A suitable bleaching process should be employed then, which ought to does not only improve the brightness of the pulp, but also remain the effect of the adsorption of xylan on pulp fibers. The objective of this research was to investigate the impact of hydrogen peroxide bleaching on the properties of unbleached hardwood kraft pulp pretreated with birchwood xylan by measuring optical properties (brightness, post color number, opacity) as well as physical properties (tensile index, tearing index, bulk) of handsheets made from the bleached pulp. In the meantime, the influence of process variables of peroxide bleaching including bleaching temperature, time, initial pH and $MgSO_4$ dosage were studied.

시뮬레이티드 어닐링을 이용한 젖소의 급이량 산정 (Determination of Dairy Cow Food Intake using Simulated Annealing)

  • The daily food intake for dairy cows has to be effectively controlled to breed a sound group of cows as well as to enhance the productivity of the cows. But, feed stuffs are fed in the common bulk for a group of cows in most cases despite that the individual food intake has to be varied. To obtain the feed for each cow, both the nutrient requirements and the nutrient composition of fred have to be provided in advance, which are based on the status of cows such as weigh marginal weight amount of milk, fat concentration in milk, growth and milking stages, and rough feed ratio, etc. Then, the mixed ration fur diet would be computed by the nutrient requirements constraints. However, when TMR (Total Mixed Ration) is conventionally supplied for a group of cows, it is almost impossible to get an optimal feed mixed ration meeting the nutrient requirements of each individual cow since the constraints are usually conflicting and over-constrained although they are linear. Hence, addressed in this paper is a simulated annealing (SA) technique to find the food intake for dairy cows, considering the characteristics of individual or grouped cows. Appropriate parameters fur the successful working of SA are determined through preliminary experiments. The parameters include initial temperature, epoch length. cooling scheduling, and stopping criteria. In addition, a neighborhood solution generation method for the effective improvement of solutions is presented. Experimental results show that the final solution for the mixture of feed fits the rough feed ratio and some other nutrient requirements such as rough fiber, acid detergent fiber, and neutral detergent fiber, with 100 percent, while fulfilling net energy for lactating, metabolic energy, total digestible nutrients, crude protein, and undegraded intake protein within average five percent.

무전해 니켈-인 도금법을 이용하여 도금된 탄소 섬유의 열처리 과정에서 나타나는 다공성 구조 생성 메커니즘 분석 (Formation Mechanism of Pores in Ni-P Coated Carbon Fiber Prepared by Electroless Plating Upon Annealing)

  • 본 연구에서는 무전해 도금법으로 니켈과 인을 탄소섬유 표면에 코팅한 후, 열처리시키는 과정에서 일어나는 변화를 다양한 분석방법을 이용하여 연구하였다. 전자현미경(Scanning Electron Microscopy, SEM)을 이용한 연구에서는, 코팅 후 추가적인 열처리를 하지 않은 경우 평평한 표면구조를 관찰하였으나, 열처리 온도가 $350^{\circ}C$에 이르면서 다공성구조가 생성됨을 알았다. 열처리 온도를 $50^{\circ}C$ 간격으로 증가시키면서 연구한 결과 $650^{\circ}C$까지는 열처리 온도가 증가할수록 기공의 크기는 증가하고, 개수는 감소하는 경향성이 관찰되었다. X-선 회절법(x-ray diffraction, XRD) 측정 결과, 코팅 후 추가 열처리가 없는 경우 금속성 Ni, Ni-P 화합물이 관찰되었으며, 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 NiO 봉우리는 세기가 증가하며, 금속성 Ni 봉우리의 세기는 감소하였다. X-선 광전자 분광법(X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, XPS) 측정에서는 $650^{\circ}C$, $700^{\circ}C$의 열처리 후 인 산화물이 표면에서 검출됨을 확인하였는데, 이는 코팅된 니켈 필름의 내부에 존재하던 인 화합물이 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라서 표면 밖으로 빠져 나오는 현상이 일어나는 결과로 해석할 수 있다. 이상의 분석 데이터를 토대로, 무전해 도금으로 코팅된 Ni-P 화합물($Ni_xP_y$)이 열처리 과정에서 산화되면서, 이때 생성된 인 화합물 기체가 승화하면서 필름에 기공을 생성시키는 것으로 제안할 수 있다. 다공성 물질은 넓은 비표면적 등의 우수한 물성때문에 불균일 촉매 등 다양한 분야에 적용될 수 있으며, 본 연구에서 소개하는 다공성 니켈 필름의 제작법은 대량 생산에 적용이 쉬워 환경 필터 분야 등의 다양한 곳에 응용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

  • Carbon fibers (CFs) have high service temperature, strength, and stiffness, and low weight. They are widely used as reinforcing materials in advanced polymer composites. The role of the polymer matrix in the composites is to provide bulk to the composite laminate and transfer load between the fibers. The interface between the CF and the resin matrix plays a critical role in controlling the overall properties of the composites. This paper aims to review the synthesis, properties, and applications of polymer matrices, such as thermosetting and thermoplastic resins.

베트남산 대나무의 펄프화 특성 (Pulping Characteristics of Bamboo(Bambusa procera acher) Grown in Vietnam)

  • Soda and kraft pulping experiments were carried out in order to investigate the pulping characteristics of bamboo grown in Vietnam. The merit of kraft pulping was not observed for bamboo pulping from the viewpoint of delignification and screened pulp yield. The improvements of delignification during soda and kraft pulping of bamboo were observed by the addition of AQ. The bamboo pulp leaded the bulkier structure than those made from SwBKP and HwBKP. The average fiber length was 1.62mm which is shorter than those of SwBKP, but longer than those of HwBKP. It was found that the physical properties of bamboo pulp sheet could be varied by the pulping method, cooking condition, AQ addition, bleaching and refining etc.
