Building footprint extraction is an active topic in the domain of remote sensing, since buildings are a fundamental unit of urban areas. Deep convolutional neural networks successfully perform footprint extraction from optical satellite images. However, semantic segmentation produces coarse results in the output, such as blurred and rounded boundaries, which are caused by the use of convolutional layers with large receptive fields and pooling layers. The objective of this study is to generate visually enhanced building objects by directly extracting the vertices of individual buildings by combining instance segmentation and keypoint detection. The target keypoints in building extraction are defined as points of interest based on the local image gradient direction, that is, the vertices of a building polygon. The proposed framework follows a two-stage, top-down approach that is divided into object detection and keypoint estimation. Keypoints between instances are distinguished by merging the rough segmentation masks and the local features of regions of interest. A building polygon is created by grouping the predicted keypoints through a simple geometric method. Our model achieved an F1-score of 0.650 with an mIoU of 62.6 for building footprint extraction using the OpenCitesAI dataset. The results demonstrated that the proposed framework using keypoint estimation exhibited better segmentation performance when compared with Mask R-CNN in terms of both qualitative and quantitative results.

Recently, rapid urbanization has necessitated continuous updates in digital map to provide the latest and accurate information for users. However, conventional aerial photogrammetry has some restrictions on periodic updates of small areas due to high cost, and as-built drawing also brings some problems with maintaining quality. Alternatively, this paper proposes a scheme for efficient and accurate update of digital map using point cloud data acquired by Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS). Initially, from the whole point cloud data, the building sides are extracted and projected onto a 2D image to trace out the 2D building footprints. In order to register the footprint extractions on the digital map, 2D Affine model is used. For Affine parameter estimation, the centroids of each footprint groups are randomly chosen and matched by means of a modified RANSAC algorithm. Based on proposed algorithm, the experimental results showed that it is possible to renew digital map using building footprint extracted from TLS data.
One of the most important factors in tall buildings design in urban spaces is wind. The present study aims to investigate the aerodynamic behavior in the square and triangular footprint forms through aerodynamic modifications including rounded corners, chamfered corners and recessed corners in order to reduce the length of tall buildings wake region. The method used was similar to wind tunnel numerical simulation conducted on 16 building models through Autodesk Flow Design 2014 software. The findings revealed that in order to design tall 50 story buildings with a height of about 150 meters, the model in triangular footprint with aerodynamic modification of chamfered corner facing wind direction came out to have the best aerodynamic behavior comparing the other models. In comparison to the related reference model (i.e., the triangular footprint with sharp corners and no aerodynamic modification), it could reduce the length of the wake region about 50% in general. Also, the model with square footprint and aerodynamic modification of chamfered corner with the corner facing the wind could present favorable aerodynamic behavior comparing the other models of the same cluster. In comparison to the related reference model (i.e., the square footprint with sharp corners and no aerodynamic modification), it could decrease the wake region up to 30% lengthwise.

Extraction of man-made objects from high resolution satellite images has been studied by many researchers. In order to reconstruct accurate 3D building structures most of previous approaches assumed 3D information obtained by stereo analysis. For this, they need the process of sensor modeling, etc. We argue that a single image itself contains many clues of 3D information. The algorithm we propose projects virtual shadow on the image. When the shadow matches against the actual shadow, the height of a building can be determined. If the height of a building is determined, the algorithm draws vertical lines of sides of the building onto the building in the image. Then the roof boundary moves along vertical lines and the footprint of the building is extracted. The algorithm proposed can use the shadow cast onto the ground surface and onto facades of another building. This study compared the building heights determined by the algorithm proposed and those calculated by stereo analysis. As the results of verification, root mean square errors of building heights were about 1.5m.
The main purpose of the green buildings by reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint of the building society, global as to ensure the sustainability of the building and the environment. These regulations and schemes are used to activate the green buildings were made on the basis of the relevant laws and regulations. Mainly in the research for the improvement of the domestic institutional assessment items, the analysis of the legislation was fundamentally focused on Scoring the incomplete state. The analysis based on the laws and regulations of the institution is the way to know the purpose and direction of the respective certification. This study was performed in the following order to target the new commercial buildings. First, the analysis of the geungeobeop G-SEED and BREEAM. Second, we analyze the content and method of building energy performance in the certification system. As a result, Green Building Act is broad in relation to the composition of the contents are building for the activation energy green building and EPI is dealt with in an abstract and presented the applicability of such documentary content of insulation and airtightness, efficient machine. In contrast, the UK has been directly limit the carbon footprint of buildings in the Building Regulations Part L and evaluate them in BREEAM. This analysis of the ways to reduce substantially the energy for domestic green building regulations should be addressed through the feed.

An aerial multi-looking camera system equips itself with five separate cameras which enables acquiring one vertical image and four oblique images at the same time. This provides diverse information about the site compared to aerial photographs vertically. However, multi-looking Aerial Camera for building a 3D spatial information don't use a large-size CCD camera, do uses a medium-size CCD camera, if acquiring forward, backward, left and right imagery of Certain objects, Aerial photographing set overlap and sidelap must be considered. Especially, Sideward-looking camera set up by the sidelap to determine whether a particular object can be acquisition Through our research we analyzed of sideward footprint and aerial photographing efficiency of Multi-view imagery by sidelap changing.
The Product Carbon Footprint Labeling has been run for more than four years by the Ministry of Environment and there are number of products labeled by KEITI(Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute), as for declaring products with their carbon emission during life cycle stages. There are several categories for certifying products by the characteristics of usage. Building products which are applied to a building as combined components or elements, are classified as production goods which means that the products are chosen by a business, not by a final consumer. In this paper, current status of PCF labeling has been reviewed focused on building products and the characteristics of carbon emission by a kind of product such as interior products, window products, structural products, system products and others. Until Dec. 2013, 82 products has been labeled and it covers about 53% among labeled product goods by the certification. Among the labeled building products, interior products are main products. From the results of comparison, variations of emission amounts by products have been found and the cause of variation could be explained by the purpose and material properties of products. However, the exact reason for variations cannot be acquired because of lack of information and the short operation period of the certification program. Further studies and more products are needed to be studied and analyzed focused on the emission characteristic by each product and to suggest reduction technologies for sustainable building products.
The 2020 National Building Code of Canada (NBC) and the 2021 International Building Code (IBC) both include Tall Wood Buildings (TWB) and are hailed as documents responsible for the proliferation of Mass Timber construction. Mass Timber construction is critical to reducing the carbon footprint of the construction industry; a sector acknowledged as being one of the greatest contributors of global annual CO2 emissions. Origine, a 13-storey multi-residential building erected in 2017 in a previously unsuitable site, is currently the tallest all-wood building in North America. This article describes the challenges overcome by the designers and client as they engaged with code officials, building authorities, and fire-service representatives to demonstrate the life-safety performance of this innovative building. It also traces the development of the "Guide for Mass Timber Buildings of up to 12 Storeys" published in Quebec and how it has enabled other significant Tall Wood projects across North America.
A novel combinatorial type-2 adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (T2-ANFIS) and robust proportional integral derivative (PID) control framework for intelligent vibration mitigation of uncertain structural system is introduced. The fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs), are designed independently of the mathematical model of the system. The type-1 FLCs, have a limited ability to reduce the effect of uncertainty, due to their fuzzy sets with a crisp degree of membership. In real applications, the consequent part of the fuzzy rules is uncertain. The type-2 FLCs, are robust to the fuzzy rules and the process parameters due to the fuzzy degree of membership functions and footprint of uncertainty (FOU). The adaptivity of the proposed method is provided with the optimum tuning of the parameters using the neural network training algorithms. In our approach, the PID control force is obtained using the generalized type-2 neuro-fuzzy in such a way that the stability and robustness of the controller are guaranteed. The robust performance and stability of the presented framework are demonstrated in a numerical study for an eleven-story seismically-excited building structure combined with an active tuned mass damper (ATMD). The results indicate that the introduced type-2 neuro-fuzzy PID control scheme is effective to attenuate plant states in the presence of the structured and unstructured uncertainties, compared to the conventional, type-1 FLC, type-2 FLC, and type-1 neuro-fuzzy PID controllers.
