The gas ventilated by supercavitation splits into smaller bubbles and follows the water passage of the cavitation tunnel. The bubbles quickly return to the test section by rather high speed flow, and interrupt the observation of the supercavitation. To secure clear observation in the test section, the bubble collecting section(settling chamber) of large volume is prepared to collect bubbles in the water passage ahead of the test section. The bubble collecting section should provide enough buoyancy effect to the bubbles for proper bubble collecting. However, rather high-speed oncoming flow produces non-uniform velocity distribution and deteriorates buoyancy effect in the bubble collecting section. In the present study, the bubble collecting space and three porous plates are designed and analyzed through numerical methods, and the bubble collecting function is experimentally validated by 1/10-scaled model in terms of the formation of uniformly low velocity distribution in the bubble collecting section.

The experimental results of sodium-water reaction noise measurement in frequency range $1{/sim}200kHz$ are presented. The experiments of noise generation under the condition of sodium test facility, water leak rate $0.01{\sim}1.2g/s$ and temperature of sodium $250{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, were carried out. From theoretical study it is noted that the noise resonant attenuation on hydrogen bubbles in liquid sodium plays the significant role for leak noise spectra formation. Interaction of leak noise and hydrogen bubbles in sodium being accompanied by thermal, emission and viscosity energy dissipation was studied. Acoustic noise spectra were investigated from point of view of water leak detection in sodium/water steam generator. The results of sodium-water reaction noise absorption on hydrogen bubbles in liquid sodium by temperature $250{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ are presented. The theoretical model of noise absorption using the coefficients of attenuation was developed. From calculation the coefficients of attenuation were estimated.

A theoretical model was developed to compute the effect of a bubble layer in reducing the radiation noise generated by a force applied on an infinite flat plate considering the noise of multi-bubbles. Using the model, the effectiveness of a bubble layer in reducing the structure-borne noise of the plate was evaluated to consider various parameters such as the source noise levels, the thickness of bubble layers, the volume fractions and the frequency characteristics of bubbly fluids. Considering the noise of multi-bubbles, the actual reduction effect of radiation noise using a bubble layer was expected in cases of high source levels, high volume fractions of bubbles and large thickness of the bubble layer above the resonance frequency of the bubble layer. Accordingly, it is recommended that the thickness of a bubble layer, the source noise level and the characteristics of bubbly fluids should be optimized cautiously to maximize noise reduction effects.
Microbubbles oxygen transfer to water was simulated based on experimental results obtained from the bubbles generation operated under varying liquid supply velocity to the multi-step orifices of the generator. It had been known that liquid supply velocity and bubble size are inversely related. In the oxygen transfer, a non-steady state was assumed and the pseudo stagnation caused the slow movement of bubbles from the bottom to the water surface. Two parameters were considered for the simulation: They represent a factor to correct the pseudo stagnation state and a scale which represented the amount of bubbles in supply versus time. The sum of absolute error determined by fitting regression to the experimental results was comparable to that of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) model, which is based on concentration differential as the driving force. Hence, considering the bubbles formation factors, the simulation process has the potential to be easily used for applications by introducing two parameters in the assumptions. Compared with the ASCE model, the simulation method reproduced the experimental results well by detailed conditions.

This paper proposes a method for measurement three-dimensional trajectories of bubbles generated around a swimmer's arms from stereo high-speed camera videos. This method is based on two techniques: two-dimensional trajectory estimation in single-camera images and trajectory pair matching in stereo-camera images. The two-dimensional trajectory is estimated by block matching using similarity of bubble shape and probability of bubble displacement. The trajectory matching is achieved by a consistensy test using epipolar constraint in multiple frames. The experimental results in two-dimensional trajectory estimation showed the estimation accuracy of 47% solely by the general optical flow estimation, whereas 71% taking the bubble displacement into consideration. This concludes bubble displacement is an efficient aspect in this estimation. In three-dimensional trajectory estimation, bubbles were visually captured moving along the flow generated by an arm; which means an efficient material for swimmers to swim faster.
Generally, it is a method to remove the fouling cleaning the plate heat exchanger with chemicals or polishing with a brush or cloth after stopping the equipment and disassembling heat exchanger. However, the equipment must be stopped and taken apart when using this method, which causes an unnecessary work to assemble again after cleaning it. In this study, it has developed and tested the equipment which can automatically clean the fouling on plate heat exchanger at regular intervals with air bubbles. It indicated that the overall heat transfer coefficient had decreased without significant differences similar to that calculated without air bubbles until after 72 hours when making air bubbles to remove fouling ingredient on the surface of heat transfer area every 10 minutes per 2 hours. However, it showed that there was a 10% higher of heat transfer effect compared to the case without air bubbles of after 192 hours.
The interfacial area transport equation dynamically models the changes in interfacial structures along the flow field by mechanistically modeling the creation and destruction of dispersed phase. Hence, when employed in the numerical thermal-hydraulic system analysis codes, it eliminates artificial bifurcations stemming from the use of the static flow regime transition criteria. Accounting for the substantial differences in the transport mechanism for various sizes of bubbles, the transport equation is formulated for two characteristic groups of bubbles. The group 1 equation describes the transport of small-dispersed bubbles, whereas the group 2 equation describes the transport of large cap, slug or chum-turbulent bubbles. To evaluate the feasibility and reliability of interfacial area transport equation available at present, it is benchmarked by an extensive database established in various two-phase flow configurations spanning from bubbly to chum-turbulent flow regimes. The geometrical effect in interfacial area transport is examined by the data acquired in vertical fir-water two-phase flow through round pipes of various sizes and a confined flow duct, and by those acquired In vertical co-current downward air-water two-phase flow through round pipes of two different sizes.
The success of SDB (silicon wafer direct bonding) technology can be estabilished by bonding on the bonded interface with no defects and Preventing temperature dependent bubbles. In this research, we observed the behavior of the intrinsic bubbles by transmitting the infrared light and the increase of the bubble pressure was found. And, the $SiO_2$-$SiO_2$ bonded wafer was achieved, which generates no intrinsic bubbles in the annealing under the atmospheric pressure. The intrinsic bubbles in the $SiO_2$-$SiO_2$ bonded wafer were generated in the annealing in the ultra high vacuum. This experimental result shows the relation between the bubble growth and the pressure.
This study empirically tests the presence of rational bubbles in the ship prices using time series data from October 1996 to April 2017. To detect the existence of ship prices' rational bubbles, we use integration and cointegration tests, which were proposed by Campbell and Shiller(1987) and Diba and Grossman(1988), for circumventing misspecification of ship price model and applying the bubble test to nonstationary time series. The result of integration test supports existence of tanker price's rational bubble. The co-integration test also shows that drybulk ship and containership prices have been overvalued relative to the market fundamental, drybulk and container freight rates, due to non-stationary rational bubbles. These results provide Korean shipping industry and authorities implications that anticyclical ship investment and long-term and steady fleet capacity expansion policy are needed.
Hydrodynamic field alteration around a cylindrical pier using a curved vane is numerically investigated. The curved vane with various angles ranged from 10 to 220 degree is placed at the upstream of the cylindrical pier. Laminar flow is adopted in order to perform the steady-state analysis. It is found that the flow separation leads to the formation of four bubbles depending on the value of the curved vane angle. Two bubbles are located in the region between the rear of the curved vane and the leading surface of the cylindrical pier, while the remaining two bubbles are located at the wake zone behind the cylindrical pier. Numerical analysis is performed to reveal the hydrodynamic field and influence of curved vane on the formation and evolution of the bubbles. It is found that the center and size of the bubble depend mainly on the value of the curved vane angle. It is observed that the flow velocity vector shows clearly the alteration in the flow velocity direction especially at the leading surface and rear surface of the curved vane owing to the occurrence of flow separation and flow dissipation along the circumference of the vane.
