The rise of a large gas bubble or slug in a Micro Two-Phase Closed Thermosyphon with a thin wire insert has been analiged by the potential flow theory. The effect of the interfacial surface tension is explicitly accounted by application of the Kelvin-Laplace equation and solved for the bubble shape. The solution is expressed in terms of the Stokes stream function which consists of an infinite series of Bessel functions. The conditions of the bubble movement in a Micro Two-Phase Closed Thermosyphon were theoretically ascertained.
Bubble behaviors in a circular tube have been analyzed numerically and experimentally by a three-dimensional tomography method, Initially, a multiplicative algebraic reconstruction technique (MART) which showed better results for previous studies of numerical simulations has been performed to confirm the accuracy of the three-dimensional reconstruction for the two-phase flow using a computer-synthesized phantom, Then, bubble behaviors have been investigated experimentally by the three-dimensional MART method using real projected data captured simultaneously by a laser and three CCD cameras for three angles of view, Also, the transient reconstructions have been attempted to analyze the real-time oxygen-bubble movements in water by the interval of 1/30 second.
Cavitation is described by formation and collapse of the bubbles in a liquid when the ambient pressure decreases. Formed bubbles grow and collapse by change of pressure, and when they collapse, shockwave by high pressure is generated. In general, bubble behavior can be described by Rayleigh-Plesset equation under adiabatic or isothermal condition and hence, phase shift by the pressure change in a bubble cannot be considered in the equation. In our study, a numerical model is developed from the mathematical model considering the phase shift from the previous study. In the developed numerical model, size of single spherical bubble is calculated by the change of mass calculated from the change of the ambient pressure in a liquid. The developed numerical model is verified by a case of liquid flow in a narrow channel.
In order to visually analyze the flow characteristics, gas was injected into the liquid bath through nozzle installed at the center of bottom of the bath. When gas was injected into the liquid bath, several flow patterns were observed bubble-liquid plumb, the spout flow that occurred at the free surface, liquid circulation flow by bubble's behavior, etc. Various bubbles, from small bubbles to Taylor bubbles, consisted of the bubble-liquid plumb. In the pure liquid region, the large and small several vortices were formed and irregularly circulated. These irregular repetition and circulation play a important role of mixing in the bath. The vortices were developed in the upper and the side wall regions and the movement of flow in the low region was very small. It is known as 'dead zone'.
기포의 단면적 당 개수는 Ultraseal $XT^{(R)}$ plus old가 $Clinpro^{(R)}$, $TeethmateF-1^{(R)}$, $Helioseale^{(R)}$에 brush tip을 적용한 경우보다 많이 발생하였다(p<0.05). 3.
Nonlinear oscillation of a microbubble under ultrasound was investigated theoretically. The bubble radius-time curves calculated by the Rayleigh-Plesset equation with a polytropic index and by the Keller-Miksis equation with the analytical solution for the Navier-Stokes equations of the gases were compared with the observed results by the light scattering method. This study has revealed that the bubble behavior such as the expansion ratio and the bouncing motion after the first collapse under ultrasound depends crucially on the retarded time of the bubble motion to the applied ultrasound.
Experimental data of phase equilibrium is reported for caprolactone acrylate in supercritical carbon dioxide. Bubble-point data was measured by synthetic method at temperatures ranging from (313.2 to 393.2) K and pressures up to 55.93 MPa. In this research, the solubility of carbon dioxide for the (carbon dioxide + caprolactone acrylate) system decreases as temperature increases at a constant pressure. The (carbon dioxide + caprolactone acrylate) system exhibits type-I phase behavior. The experimental result for the (carbon dioxide + caprolactone acrylate) system was correlated with Peng-Robinson equation of state using mixing rule. The critical property of caprolactone acrylate was predicted with the Joback and Lyderson method.
In this study, we conducted analysis of bubble dynamics and flow of liquid phase change material(PCM) using shadowgraphy and particle image velocimetry(PIV). Characteristics of internal flow varied depending on locations of injection when solid PCM was liquefied from heated vertical wall. When bubbles rose immediately, they exhibited elliptical shape and zigzag trajectory. In contrast, when bubbles rose after merging at the bottom of solid PCM, with equivalent diameter for the inter-wall distance of 0.64 or greater, they showed a jellyfish shape and strong rocking behavior. It was observed by the PIV that the small ellipse bubbles made most strong flow inside the liquid PCM. Furthermore, the flow velocity was highest in the case of front injection, as the directions of temperature gradients and bubble-driven flow were aligned. The results underscore the significant influence of injection location on various characteristics, including bubble size, shape, rising path of bubbles, and internal flow.
Nucleate boiling experiments on heating surface of constant wall temperature were performed using R113 for almost saturated pool boiling conditions. A microscale heater array and Wheatstone bridge circuits were used to maintain a constant wall temperature condition of heating surface and to measure the heat flow rate with high temporal and spatial resolutions. Bubble images during the bubble growth were taken as 5000 frames per second using a high-speed CCD camera synchronized with the heat flow rate measurements. The bubble growth behavior was analyzed using the new dimensionless parameters for each growth regions to permit comparisons with previous experimental results at the same scale. We found that the new dimensionless parameters can describe the whole growth region as initial and later (thermal) respectively. The comparisons showed good agreement in the initial and thermal growth regions. In the initial growth region including surface tension controlled, transition and inertia controlled regions as divided by Robinson and Judd, the bubble growth rate showed that the bubble radius was proportional to $t^{2/3}$ regardless of working fluids and heating conditions. And in the thermal growth region as also called asymptotic region, the bubble showed a growth rate that was proportional to $t^{1/5}$, also. Those growth rates were slower than the growth rates proposed in previous analytical analyses. The required heat flow rate for the volume change of the observed bubble was estimated to be larger than the heat flow rate measured at the wall. Heat, which is different from the instantaneous heat supplied through the heating wall, can be estimated as being transferred through the interface between bubble and liquid even with saturated pool condition. This phenomenon under a saturated pool condition needs to be analyzed and the data from this study can supply the good experimental data with the precise boundary condition (constant wall temperature).
Saturated nucleate pool boiling experiments for binary mixtures, which are consisted of refrigerant R11 and R113, were performed with constant wall temperature condition. Results for binary mixtures were also compared with pure fluids. A microscale heater array and Wheatstone bridge circuits were used to maintain the constant temperature of the heating surface and to obtain heat flow rate measurements with high temporal and spatial resolutions. Bubble growth images were captured using a high speed CCD camera synchronized with the heat flow rate measurements. The departure time for binary mixtures was longer than that for pure fluids, and binary mixtures had a higher onset of nucleate boiling (ONB) temperature than pure fluids. In the asymptotic growth region, the bubble growth rate was proportional to a value between $t^{\frac{1}{6}}$ and $t^{\frac{1}{4}}$. The bubble growth behavior was analyzed to permit comparisons with binary mixtures and pure fluids at the same scale using dimensionless parameters. There was no discernable difference in the bubble growth behavior between binary mixtures and pure fluids for a given ONB temperature. And the departure radius and time were well predicted within a ${\pm}30{\%}$ error. The minimum heat transfer coefficient of binary mixtures occurred near the maximum ${\mid}y-x{\mid}$ value, and the average required heat flux during bubble growth did not depend on the mass fraction of R11 as more volatile component in binary mixtures. Finally, the results showed that for binary mixtures, a higher ONB temperature had the greatest effect on reducing the heat transfer coefficient.
