맥작에 있어서 2,4-D에 의한 광엽잡초 방제에 관한 연구 (Control of broadleaf weeds with 2,4-D in barley field)

  • 맥작에 있어서 문제 광엽잡초를 2,4-D에 의하여 방제하기 위하여 처리약량, 처리시기, 토성별로 실험을 실시하였던 바 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 10a 당 $40\%$유제 2,4-D amine salt 70cc를 유효분벽 종지기에 처리하였을 때 보리에 거의 약해를 주지 않고 대부분의 광엽잡초의 방제가 가능하였다. 2) 2,4-D의 최적처리시기는 유효분벽 종지기이며, 이보다도 빠르거나 늦게 될 때에는 약해를 내어 수량감소를 가져왔다. 3) 보리의 내성이 가장 강한 시기에 최적약량처리가 될 때에는 토성에 환계없이 2,4-D의 적용이 가능함을 시사하였다.

수수 식물체 추출물의 제초활성 및 작물 선택성 (Herbicidal activity and crop injury of aqueous extracts of sorghum leaves)

  • Herbicidal effects and crop selectivity of aqueous leaf extracts of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) were evaluated against several weed species for developing sustainable weed management in organic farming. Aqueous sorghum leaf extracts were highly phytotoxic to different weed species. No broadleaf weeds were germinated in the concentration of 5 fold or higher concentrated sorghum leaf extracts and 90% of seed germination was inhibited within that range in grass species. Sorghum leaf extracts strongly inhibited the growth of different weeds by pre-emergence and foliar applications in greenhouse condition. Foliar application of sorghum leaf extracts had a higher inhibitory effect than the pre-emergence application. Broadleaf weed species were more susceptible than grasses to the application of sorghum leaf extract in foliar applications than grasses. Galium spurium, Erigeron candensis, and Rumex japonicus were completely killed at the highest concentrated sorghum leaf extract both in pre-emergence and foliar application. Most broadleaf weed species were inhibited more than 80% at pre-emergence application at 50 fold concentrated sorghum leaf extract. G. spurium, E. candensis, R. japonicus, Eclipta alba, Plantago asiatica and Portulaca oleraeea were most susceptible to sorghum leaf extract in foliar application. Growth of most broad leaf weed species was suppressed by greater than 90% at 50 fold concentrated sorghum leaf extract. Most crop species were tolerant to sorghum leaf extract but shoot growth was slightly reduced by the application of 40~50 fold concentrated extracts, Sorghum leaf extract may used to control weeds in organic fanning without affecting the growth of crop.

居金島의 植生 (The Vegetation of Kokum Island)

  • This study was performed to investigated the flora and vegetation of Kokum-do island from July 1982 thru December 1983; and the findings hereof are summarized as follows: The flora investigated thereform comprises 737 species whih are classified into 128 families, 466 genera, 651 species, 79 varieties and 7 formae; and those which are worthy of close attention among the same include such endemic species of Korea as Celtis choseniana, Corylopsis coreana, Carpinus tschonoskii var. eximia and Tricyrtis dilatata, and a few plants, to be distributed in the north, such as Lilium distichum, Girardinia cuspidata and Orostachys sikokianus. Now that the said island belongs to the warm temperate zone, the distribution thereof consists of 120 species of evergreen plants including 74 species of evergreen broadleaf trees. The rich distribution of evergreen broadleaf trees in the island is thanks to the plantation thereof by the public organizations for scenic beauty. The destruction of flora in this island was caused by felling, fire nization and other human activities around 1940, and in particular, has been correlated with the population densiity of Yonhong-do, Sanghwa-do, and Hahwado islets; and that of top soil and ground vegetation in he quarry area of Ojon-ri town resulted from the collection of natural rocks an stones. It is evaluated as necessary that such evergreen broadleaf trees as Castanopsis cuspidata var. thunbergii, Machillus thunbergii and Ligustrum japonicum of Hyongje-do. Chun-do, Tok-do, Taech'wi-do, and Soch'wi-do islets, andPhyllostachys bambusoides, Caesalpinia japonica and Albizzia julibirssin of Kokum-do island, and Machillus thunbergii of Hongryon-ri town be under protection. The average DGN of the whole archipelago proves to be 5.84, which shows the tendency of the inverse proportion to the number of resident population per unit area. The pteridophyta distributed in this island comprises 39 species, and the coefficient of cryptogam as to the destruction of vegetation shows a high value of 1.4 which is regarded as indicating the diversified distribution of pteridophyta, forestbed shade plants under the forestbeds of some wellpreserved lots of this island. The naturalized plants, distributed in this island, were found out comprising a total of 23 species, and the Urbanization Index(UI) as to the destruction degree of natural vegetatioin shows a low value of 20.9.

위성영상을 이용한 난대림 식생 분류와 관리 시스템 (Classification of Warm Temperate Vegetation Using Satellite Data and Management System)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 1991년 위성 데이터와 2002년의 위성 데이터의 비교 분석을 통한 전남 완도의 난대림 식생 변화추이를 밝히는데 있다. 이를 위해 1991년 Landsat TM영상과 2002년 Landsat ETM 영상이 이용되었으며, 이미지 프로세싱은 ENVI를 이용하였다. GIS를 이용한 난대림 관리 시스템 개발은 Arc/Info와 ArcView를 이용하여 완성되었다. 영상 데이터의 촬영시기 차이와 TM 영상의 해상도(Resolution)가 정밀하지 못해 복잡한 지형특성을 지닌 곳에서는 정확한 변화추이를 파악하기는 불가능하였으나, 2002년 영상을 이용하여 분석된 완도의 상록활엽수림 면적은 약 2,027ha로 산출되었다. 상록활엽수림과 상록침엽수림은 11년 전에 비해 소폭으로 증가하였으나 낙엽활엽수림은 큰 폭으로 감소하였다. 식생분류를 위한 기준은 상록활엽수림, 상록침엽수림, 낙엽활엽수림, 기타로 구분하였으며 감독분류기법을 통해 식생이 분류되었다. 완도의 공간 데이터는 녹지자연도, 현존식생도, 산림토양도, 훼손유형도, 지형도, 토지소유현황도로 분류되었고, 이에 대한 속성 데이터 베이스는 Arc/Info와 ArcView를 이용하여 완성되었다. 데이터를 관리하고 필요한 정보를 색인 분석하는 사용자 GUI(Graphic User Interface)는 Avenue를 이용하여 개발되었다.

Distribution and habitat use of the endangered Siberian flying squirrel Pteromys volans (Rodentia: Sciuridae)

  • Background: Understanding the habitat characteristics of the endangered Siberian flying squirrel Pteromys volans is the first step in conserving and managing the forests it requires for nesting, gliding, and feeding. Therefore, in the present study, we characterized the habitats of P. volans using GIS analysis of 411 forest sites in South Korea where fecal droppings were found. Results: Fecal signs of P. volans were found in various regions in South Korea, including the Baekdudaegan Mountains. GIS analysis with six environmental layers (vegetation type, wood-age class, diameter at breast height [DBH], crown density, elevation, and distance from stream) revealed that fecal signs of P. volans were more frequently found in broad-leaved deciduous forests (42%) located 200-399 m above sea level (43.1%) and 0-199 m from the nearest stream (53%), with 5th class wood-age (35.3%), middle size class DBH (51.1%), and high crown density (71%). Conclusions: The present study provides information on the biotic and abiotic characteristics of P. volans habitats. In South Korea, the fecal droppings of P. volans were found predominantly old deciduous broadleaf forests. Further studies are needed to reveal whether the more frequent occurrence of P. volans dropping in broadleaf forests may be due to a particular preference of this species for the forests or to a simple reflection of the area of the broadleaf forests occupying a much larger area than other forest types in Korea.

Decomposition of leaf litter of some evergreen broadleaf trees in Korea

  • Litter decomposition is an important process in terrestrial ecosystem. However, studies on decomposition are rare, especially in evergreen broadleaf trees. We collected the leaf litter of five evergreen broadleaf trees (Daphniphyllum macropodum, Dendropanax morbifera, Castanopsis cuspidata var. thunbergii, Machilus thunbergii and Quercus acuta), and carried out a decomposition experiment using the litterbag method in Ju-do, Wando-gun, Korea for 731 days from December 25, 2011 to December 25, 2013. Among the five experimental tree species, C. cuspidata var. thunbergii distribution was limited in Jeju Island, and D. macropodum was distributed at the highest latitude at Mt. Baekyang (N 35°40′). About 2% of the initial litter mass of D. macropodum and D. morbifera remained, while 20.9% remained for C. cuspidata var. thunbergii, 30.4% for M. thunbergii, and 31.6% for Q. acuta. D. macropodum litter decayed four times faster (k = 2.02 yr-1) than the litter of Q. acuta (k = 0.58 yr-1). The decomposition of litter was positively influenced by thermal climate such as accumulated mean daily air temperature (year day index) and precipitation, as well as by physical characteristics such as thickness (R2=0.939, P = 0.007) and specific leaf area (SLA) (R2 = 0.964, P = 0.003). The characteristics of chemical composition such as lignin (R2 = 0.939, P = 0.007) and water-soluble materials (R2 = 0.898, P = 0.014) showed significant correlations with litter decomposition. However, the nutrients in litter showed complicated species-specific trends. The litter of D. macropodum and D. morbifera had fast decomposition despite their low nitrogen concentration and high C/N ratio. This means that the litter decomposition was more strongly affected by physical characteristics than chemical composition and nutrient content. On the other hand, the litter of Q. acuta which had the slowest decay rate had a high amount of N and low C/N ratio. Thus, the decomposition of Q. acuta litter was more affected by the P content of the litter than the N content, although all litter had similar physical characteristics.

시설재배지(施設栽培地)(P.E. 하우스, P.E. 턴넬, P.E. 멀칭)에서의 잡초발생특성(雜草發生特性) (Characterization of Weed Occurrence in Protected Culture(P.E. house, P.E. tunnel, P.E. mulching))

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 시설재배(施設栽培)에서 잡초방제(雜草防除)의 기초자료(基礎資料)를 얻고자 대전시(大田市) 유성지역(儒城地域)에서 1985년(年) 2월(月)부터 6월(月)까지 15일(日) 간격(間隔)으로 여러 시설재배조건(施設栽培條件)에서 잡초수(雜草數), 건물중(乾物重), 발생잡초(發生雜草)의 종생태적(種生態的) 및 사회적(社會的) 특성분석(特性分析)과 우점도(優占度)를 조사(調査)하였다. 1. 시설재배(施設栽培)에서 노지(露地)의 경우, 명아주, 여뀌, 쇠비름, 바랭이가 우점(優占)하였으며, PE 하우스는 냉이, 명아주, 바랭이, 쇠비름이 우점(優占)하였고 발생잡초(發生雜草) 본수(本數)는 무멀칭에 비해 멀칭과 턴넬내 멀칭에서는 많이 발생(發生)했으며 건물중(乾物重)은 이와는 반대로 무멀칭에서 무거웠다. 노지(露地)에서는 여름 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)와 여름 화본과잡초(禾本科雜草)가 많이 발생(發生)했으나 PE 하우스내에서는 무멀칭에서 월동광엽잡초(越冬廣葉雜草)가 우점(優占)했으며 멀칭에서는 초기(初期)에 월동화본과잡초(越冬禾本科雜草)와 월동광엽잡초(越冬廣葉雜草)가 많이 발생(發生)했으나 후기(後期)에는 여름 화본과잡초(禾本科雜草)와 여름 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)가 많이 발생(發生)하였다. 2. 시설내(施設內)에서 PE 하우스는 시설(施設)을 하므로 Simpson 지수(指數)가 높아 몇 초종(草種)이 우점(優占)하고 있는 군락(群落)을 이루었고 종다양도(種多樣度), 최대종다양도(最大種多樣度)가 안정도(安定度)에 비해 낮았고 또한 무피복보다 멀칭, 턴넬내 멀칭에서 높았으며 노지(露地)는 종다양도(種多樣度), 최대종다양도(最大種多樣度)가 멀칭, 턴넬을 하므로써 높아졌고 Simpson지수(指數)는 무멀칭에서 높고 오히려 시설(施設)을 하므로 낮아졌으며, PE 하우스, 노지(露地) 공(共)히 종간경쟁(種間競爭)이 종내경쟁(種內競爭)보다 높았던 것으로 생각된다.

온대북부형 낙엽활엽수림의 디지털 카메라 반복 이미지를 활용한 식물계절 분석 (Phenophase Extraction from Repeat Digital Photography in the Northern Temperate Type Deciduous Broadleaf Forest)

  • 매년 반복되는 식물의 생활사를 장기적으로 관측하는 것은 기후변화 반응을 감지하는데 있어 가장 단순한 방법이며, 중요한 지표로 인식되고 있다. 반복 디지털 이미지를 이용한 식물계절 변화 관찰 방법은 전통적(현장에서 전문가에 의해 관찰) 방법과 위성원격탐사(위성영상의 식생지수를 활용한 위성원격 관찰)의 한계를 보완한 방법이다. 본 연구는 디지털 카메라를 기반으로 한 반복 이미지로부터 식물계절 변화 관측과 계절현상을 정량화하기 위하여 점봉산 산림생태계를 대상으로 하였다. 한반도 전역에 분포하는 신갈나무림(낙엽활엽수림)과 상록침엽수림의 대표 수종인 소나무를 선정하여 식물계절 특성에 따른 경향성을 파악하고자 하였다. RGB 채널 이미지 데이터로부터 식생지수(Gcc)를 산출하였다. Gcc 진폭의 크기는 상록침엽수림이 낙엽활엽수림 보다 작았으며, Gcc의 기울기(봄철 증가와 가을철 감소)는 상록침엽수림이 낙엽활엽수림과 비교하여 완만하였다. 소나무림은 생장의 시작(UD)이 신갈나무림에 보다 빨랐고, 생장의 종료(RD)는 늦은 것으로 나타났다. 식물계절 현상의 정확도 검증은 RMSE가 0.008(ROI1)과 0.006(ROI3)으로 높은 정확도를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 온대북부형 낙엽활엽수림의 Gcc 궤적의 경향성을 잘 반영하였으며, 디지털 카메라를 이용한 반복 이미지 관측 방법이 식물계절 변화 관측에 있어 유용할 것으로 판단된다.

주둥무늬차색풍뎅이(Adoretus tenuimaculatus)의 산란지 선호성과 골프장에서의 분포 (Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Chestnut Brown Chafer, Adoretus tenuimaculatus (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) in Golf Courses)

  • This study was carried out to know the oviposition preference site of chestnut brown chafer ( CBC ), Adoretus tenuimaculatus and its temporal activity and spatial distribution in green. Larval distribution was also investigated in golf courses for the control of CBC. CBC collected from Yongwon Golf Club in Chinhae, Tongdo Golf Club in Yangsan, Gyeongsan Province, Daegu Golf Club in Gyeongsan, Kyeongbuk Province, Dongrae Golf Club laid more eggs on broableaf of Zoysia matrella than Z. japonica, broadleaf+middleleaf of Z. matrella, Poa pratensis, and P. annua. The number of CBC egg was $19.7\pm$6.7 in Z. japonica,$ 1.7\pm$1.5 in P. pratensis, $1.3\pm$1.5 in sandy loam and $5.7\pm$2.9 in sand. Acitivity time of CBC in a day was the peak at 20:00 and continued to 24:00. CBCs adults were more collected from outside of golf courses whichhad many host plants than roadside courses. Density of white grubs was significantly different in fairway only. CBCs were more collected at tee and fairway than green. Density of white grubs was $54.6\pm$100 in broadleaf of Z. matellia and $37.7\pm$33.8 in P. pratensis at the back tee of the 7th hole in Dongrae Golf Club.
