Panting 및 Quiet Breathing시 Airway Resistance 측정의 비교 (Comparison of Measurements of Airway Resistance during Panting and Quiet Breathing)

  • 연구배경 : Airway resistance 측정시 panting 방법은 비정상적인 호흡패턴으로 환자에 따라서는 수행이 어렵고 quiet breathing 방법은 더욱 생리적인 호흡상태하에서 측정이 가능하다. 과거에는 주로 panting을 이용하였으나 최근에는 quiet breathing을 이용하는 추세로 본 연구에서는 panting 및 quiet breathing시에 airway resistance를 측정하여 이를 비교하였다. 방법 : 정상대조군 및 호흡기질환군을 대상으로 유량기량곡선을 측정하고, body plethysmograph를 이용하여 airway resistance를 quiet breathing과 panting시에 각각 측정하였다. 결과: 1) Quiet breathing과 panting시 측정한 airway resistance는 높은 상관관계를 보였다(Raw tot; 0.887, Raw 0.5; 0.921, p<0.05). 2) Panting시 quiet breathing에 비하여 Raw tot는 21.2%. Raw 0.5는 22.1%의 감소율을 보였으며, Inspiratory와 expiratory Resistance의 측정이 가능하였던 경우 Raw insp은 29.3%, Raw exp은 40.6%의 감소율을 보였다. 3) Panting시 airway resistance의 감소율은 호흡기질환군보다 대조군에서 더 컸다. 4) Panting시 specific airway conductance가 유의하게 증가되었으므로 airway resistance의 감소는 thoracic gas volume의 차이와는 관련이 없었다. 5) Panting시 quiet breathing에 비하여 airway resistance가 감소하지 않는 환자는 비교적 airway resistance가 커서 panting을 잘 수행하지 못하는 환자로 추정된다. 결론 : Airway resistance 측정시 환자의 수행능력에 따라 quiet breathing 혹은 panting 방법을 이용할 수 있으나 panting시 quiet breathing보다 결과가 약 20% 감소됨을 고려하여야 하며, 정상군 및 폐질환군에서 panting보다 quiet breathing이 airway resistance를 측정하는 더 좋은 방법으로 생각된다.

중년여성의 건강증진을 위한 단전호흡 운동프로그램의 적용 효과 (The Effect of the DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program Applied to Health Promotion in Women in Midlife)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program for health promotion and to examine the effects of a DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program on the physical and emotional health promotion of women in midlife. The design utilized for this study was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. This study was done between February 1 and July 4, 2000 and the subjects of the study were 40 women in midlife living in Seoul. There were 20 members in experimental group who participated in the DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program and 20 members in the control group who were chosen as matched to members of the experimental group according to age, education and religion. The DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program was carried out for 80 minutes a day, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. The percent of body fat, back strength, flexibility (trunk flexion), balance and vital capacity were measured using the Health Management System developed by the Korea Physical Science Institution. Blood tests were done at D infirmary for total cholesterol, and the atherogenic index was calculated using an established formula. The scores of anxiety and depression were measured by a questionnaire with 10 questions on anxiety and 13 questions on depression. It was developed from the Korean Manual of Symptoms-Checklist-90 revision. The collected data were processed using the SPSS PC program and analyzed using $\chi^2$-test and t-test. The result of this study are as follows : 1. The percent of body fat for the experimental group who participated in the DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program was lower than that of the control group. 2. The degree of back strength, flexibility (trunk flexion) and balance of the experimental group that participated in the DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program was higher than that of the control group. 3. The vital capacity of the experimental group that participated in the DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program was higher than that of the control group. 4. The total cholesterol level and atherogenic index of the experimental group that participated in the DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program were lower than those of the control group. 5. The scores for anxiety and depression in the experimental group that participated in the DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program were lower than those of the control group. In conclusion, DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program promotes the physical and emotional health of women in midlife. The DanJeon Breathing Exercise Program can be utilized as a nursing intervention for the promotion of health in women in midlife.

구호흡 어린이에서 수면호흡장애와 상기도와의 관계 (Relationship between Upper Airway and Sleep-Disordered Breathing in Children with Mouth Breathing)

  • 구호흡을 야기하는 가장 흔한 원인은 상기도의 폐쇄이다. 구호흡은 수면호흡장애의 병인론적 원인이 될 수 있으며, 어린이에서 수면호흡장애는 성장장애와 행동학적 문제를 일으킬 수 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 구호흡 어린이에서 수면호흡장애와 상기도와의 관계를 조사하고자 함에 있다. 초진 설문지에서 구호흡이 있다고 응답한 7 - 9세의 20명 남자 어린이를 대상으로 하였다. 편도평가, 구호흡 및 수면호흡장애와 관련된 설문지, 측모두부 방사선사진, 그리고 휴대용 간이수면검사를 시행하였다. 수면호흡장애에 대한 평가로 무호흡-저호흡 지수(apnea-hypopnea index, AHI), 산소불포화 지수(oxygen desaturation index, ODI)와 측모두부 방사선 사진을 통해 측정한 상기도 폭경과의 관계를 평가하였다. 상기도 부위 중 후구개 거리와 후설 거리는 무호흡-저호흡 지수와 산소불포화 지수가 커질수록 좁아지는 경향을 보였다(p = 0.002, p = 0.001). 또한, 편도의 크기와는 유의한 상관관계는 없었지만, 아데노이드 비대율의 경우 무호흡-저호흡 지수가 비정상군이 정상군에 비해 아데노이드가 비대하였다(p = 0.008). 이 연구결과를 통해 구호흡이 상기도에 영향을 미칠 수 있고 이는 수면호흡장애까지 연관될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

암 수술한 여성의 삶을 통한 단전호흡 경험 (Women's Actual Experiences of Dan Jeon Breathing after a Cancer Operation)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore women's actual experiences of Dan Jeon Breathing after a cancer operation with a view to gaining a deeper understanding of their individual experiences and the meaning that it holds for them. Methods: A phenomenological approach was used for this study. Data were collected using in-depth interviews. Study participants were 8 women aged $32{\sim}53$ years who have were practicing Dan Jeon Breathing over the 3 months after cancer operation. The method proposed by Colaizzi (1978) was used to guide the process of data analysis. Results: Themes which emerged from the data were: 'feeling of self-confidence', 'positive acceptance', 'expectation', and 'enervation'. Conclusions: This study provides us with an understanding on the practice and the process of Dan Jeon Breathing for cancer women to overcome cancer Therefore, women who have had an operation for cancer can pursue Dan Jeon Breathing as a nursing intervention.

폐렴을 동반한 천식 환자에서 Buteyko Breathing Technique과 한방치료를 병행하여 호전된 증례 (A Case Report of Asthma Patient with Pneumonia Improved by Buteyko Breathing Technique and Korean Medical Treatment)

  • Objectives The objective of this study si to report clinical effect of korean medical treatments and Buteyko breathing technique for asthma patient with pneumonia. Methods The patient was treated by korean medical treatment including acupunture, moxibustion, herbal medication and Buteyko breathing technique. The improvement of clinical symptoms was observed by visual checking and X-ray, Pulmonary Function Test that index include TV, FVC, FEV1. Results After treatments, the patient was improved in visual checking and X-ray on chest, TV, FVC, FEV1. Conclusions We suggest that korean medical treatment and Buteyko breathing technique could be an effective method to improve the asthma patient with pneumonia.

건강중재로 단전호흡을 실천하는 노인여성의 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구 (Experience of Elderly Women Practicing Dan Jeon Breathing: A Phenomenological Study)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore elderly women's experience and meaning of Dan Jeon Breathing. Methods: Ten elderly women who have practiced Dan Jeon Breathing over 3 months participated in this study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews from participants from May 2012 to January 2013. Data were analyzed with a phenomenological method outlined by Colaizzi (1978). Results: A total of 153 significant statements were extracted from the data resulting in nine themes and five theme clusters. Theme clusters were: "mind-body intervention for old age", "a happy life in old age", "getting better with great efforts", "did not meet their expectations", and "delay at aging process". Conclusion: This study provides us with an understanding on process of elderly women's experiences practicing Dan Jeon Breathing in maintaining and promoting health. Therefore, it is recommended for elderly women who want to maintain health and longevity perform Dan Jeon Breathing as a mind-body nursing intervention.

Breathing Crack이 있는 회전하는 복합재료 보의 동적 특성에 관한 연구 (Dynamic Characteristics of Rotating Composite Cantilever Beam with a Breathing Crack)

  • It is investigated that the characteristics of rotating cantilevered composite beam with a breathing crack. In the present study, the crack is modeled as a breathing crack which opens and closes with the motion of the unidirectional graphite-fiber reinforced polyimide beam. For the finite element analysis, the cracked element is modelled by the local flexibility matrix calculated on the basis of fracture mechanics using Castiligano theorem. Rotating beam is considered only transverse bending motion so that the element includes two degrees of freedom per node such as the transverse deflection and slope. The time history and frequency response function of the beam with a breathing crack are studied by Newmark direct time integration method and FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)simulation. Effects of various parameters such as the crack depths, crack locations, ply angles, volume fraction ratios, and rotating speeds of the beam are also studied. Numerical results indicate that it is more reliable to be modelled as a breathing crack than an open crack.

A Study on the Assistant Device for the Treatment of Hypertension by Breathing Exercise

  • Treatment for hypertension is basically done through drug administration, which is likely to suffer a number of side effects. Various non-drug treatments are presented to solve this problem. In this paper, we proposed a treatment method through breathing induction known as an effective method during non-drug treatment. This treatment encourages patients to reduce the number of breaths. By reducing the number of breaths, it can lower the patient's sympathetic nerves and relax the muscles, thereby lowering blood pressure. We presented these breathing algorithms that could reduce the number of breaths on the patient's own without expert help, and we enabled patients to train their own breathing techniques through a device that implements these breathing induction algorithms.

단전호흡운동이 양주시 보건소 이용주민의 체력, 혈액지질, 신체증상에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of the Danjeon Breathing Exercise Program on Physical Fitness, Levels of Serum Lipid and Physical Symptom of People Using Public Health Center at Yangju City)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of the Danjeon Breathing Exercise Program on physical fitness, levels of serum lipid and physical symptom of people using public health center at Yangju city. Method: One group pretest-posttest design was utilized for this study. This study has been done from July 6 to September 28, 2005 and the subjects of the study were 28 persons. Danjeon breathing exercise was carried out for 60 minutes a day, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. Physical fitness was measured using the Health Management System developed by the Korea Physical Science Institution. Serum lipid level was measured in public health center at Yangju city. Questions of physical symptom (35 items) were chosen from Cornell Medical Index. The collected data were processed by using the SPSS PC program and analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Result: 1. The scores of back strength, flexibility and balance of post-test were more increased after Danjeon breathing exercise than those of pre-test. But the score of muscular endurance of post-test was not significantly increased. 2. The degrees of total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglyceride of post-test were more decreased after Danjeon breathing exercise than those of pre-test. But the degree of HDL-cholesterol of post-test was not significantly increased in statistics. 3. The score of physical symptoms of post-test was not significantly decreased in statistics after Danjeon breathing exercise than that of pre-test. Conclusion: It is concluded that the Danjeon Breathing Exercise Program could increase the physical fitness and decrease levels of serum lipid. So Danjeon breathing exercise could be utilized to promote physical fittness and to decrease level of serun lipids.

Effectiveness of Breathing Exercises on Spinal Posture, Mobility and Stabilization in Patients with Lumbar Instability

  • PURPOSE: This study was conducted to monitor the performance of breathing exercises by patients with lumbar instability who had altered breathing patterns. METHODS: To investigate the effects of breathing exercises on spinal posture, mobility, and stabilization in patients with lumbar instability with altered breathing patterns, 30 adult participants were enrolled on the basis of the selection criteria and randomly assigned to the breathing exercise group (BEG) or trunk stabilization exercise group (SEG). A pre-test was performed prior to the intervention exercise program. The intervention exercise program consisted of 15 sessions (three sessions per week for 5 weeks) between August and September of 2016. The post-test was performed on the 6th week of intervention. RESULTS: Pre- and post-test comparisons of BEG and SEG revealed significant improvements in all tested items in the SEG, except for spinal mobility, while significant improvements in spinal postures 1 and 2, spinal mobility, and stabilization were found in the BEG. Between-group comparisons revealed that there were no significant differences in spinal posture 1, spinal posture 2, spinal mobility, or stabilization, whereas significant differences were found in spinal posture 2 and spinal mobility, with the BEG showing greater improvements than the SEG. CONCLUSION: Based on the findings in the present study, it is believed that breathing exercises have important effects on spinal posture, mobility, and stabilization in patients with lumbar instability who have altered breathing patterns.
