반사방지막 두께의 범위는 Al2O3(5-30nm), SiNx(150-300nm), SiOxNy(150-300nm)에서 수행하였으며, 각각 1nm, 2nm 간격으로 진행하였다.
We study the propagation of two pulses with orthogonal linear polarizations in a nonlinear periodic dielectric structure with $X^{(3)}$ nonlinearity. Using an envelope- function approach, we derive the coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations governing the spatio-temporal evolutions of the two orthogonally polarized modes in a nonlinear periodic structure. We then find their solitary-wave solutions referred to as coupled gap solitons. We show that two orthogonally polarized pulses can co-propagate as a coupled gap soliton through a nonlinear periodic structure while each pulse alone will be strongly reflected due to the Bragg reflection. Based on the results, we present an all-optical switching scheme which has a novel architecture and principle. We also study the stability of coupled gap solitons to find the dragging phenomena in a nonlinear birefringent periodic medium.

We propose a new recirculating fiber delay-line filter structure. In proposed system, we insert a fiber Bragg grating(FBG) into a recirculating fiber delay line and it operates as a partially reflection mirror. Therefore, the transfer function of the system is given by the recirculating delay output part and the multiple-reflected output part due to a FBG. By adjusting the parameters such as coupling coefficient, reflectivity of FBG, and gain, we can make the system operate in various filter.
In this paper, we present a study of the structure and electro-optic behavior of hybrid liquid-crystal-silica sphere composite photonic crystals, formed by filling the (26% by volume) void space of fee (face centered cubic) silica opals infiltrated with a nematic liquid crystal. Three dimensional photonic crystals of visible range were fabricated via a self assembly method of silica spheres of submicron diameter. The expected fee structure was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the dehydrated crystal with glass removed. The photonic crystal exhibited significant electric-field-induced shift of the optical Bragg reflection peak when the liquid crystal has the long molecular axis oriented parallel to the sphere surfaces.
In this paper, four apodization functions are proposed for silicon-on-insulator (SOI) strip waveguides with sidewall-corrugated gratings. The effects of apodization functions on the full width at half maximum (FWHM), the side-lobe level, and the reflectivity of the reflection spectrum are studied using the coupled-mode theory (CMT) and the transfer-matrix method (TMM). The results show that applying proposed apodization functions creates very good filtering characteristics. Among investigated apodized waveguides, the apodization functions of Polynomial and z-power have the best performance in reducing side-lobes, where the side-lobe oscillations are entirely removed. Four functions are also used for precise adjustment of the bandwidth. Simulation results show that the minimum and maximum values of the FWHM are 0.74 nm and 8.48 nm respectively. In some investigated functions, changing the apodization parameters decreases the reflectivity which is compensated by increasing the grating length.
This study proposes two new approaches for identifying damage patterns in a holed CFRP cross-ply laminate using an embedded fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor. It was experimentally confirmed that the reflection spectrum from the embedded FBG sensor was significantly deformed as the damage near the hole (i.e. splits, transverse cracks and delamination) extended. The damage patterns were predicted using forward analysis (a damage analysis and an optical analysis) with strain estimation and the proposed damage-identification method as well as the forward analysis only. Forward analysis with strain estimation provided the most accurate damage-pattern estimation and the highest computational efficiency. Furthermore, the proposed damage identification significantly reduced computation time with the equivalent accuracy compared to the conventional identification procedure, by using damage analysis as the initial estimation.

A cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) system exhibits one-dimensional (1-D) Photonic bandgap (PBG) characteristics in the transmission spectrum through a selective Bragg reflection. Related to the nonlinear optical (NLO) processes in a PBG structure of CLC, the inherent periodicity has been exploited to Phase-match the fundamental and the harmonic waves through the umklapp Processes. Near bandgap edges of a CLC, harmonic generations have been shown to be enhanced significantly through the field localization. (omitted)
A distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) for the application of $1.3{\mu}m$ vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) has grown by digital-alloy AlGaAs layer using the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method. The measured reflection spectra of the digital-alloy AlGaAs/GaAs DBR have uniformity in 0.35% over the 1/4 of 3-inch wafer. Furthermore, the TEM image showed that the composition and the thickness of the digital-alloy AlGaAs layer in AlGaAs/GaAs DBR was not affected by the temperature distribution over the wafer whole surface. Therefore, the digital-alloy AlGaAs/GaAs DBR can be used to get higher yield of VCSEL with the active medium of InAs quantum dots whose gain is inhomogeneously broadened.
In this paper, a photonic RF true-time delay based on a partially side-polished fiber Bragg grating with heating electrode has been proposed and fabricated. It features continuous voltage-controlled operation, requiring no mechanical perturbation and no moving parts. For an RF signal carried over an optical signal, the time delay has been obtained by controlling the voltage applied to the electrode and thus adjusting its reflection positions from the fiber grating via the thermooptic effect. The achieved time delay is about 100 ps with the electrical power consumption of 280 mW.

Volume phase diffraction grating is formed in 5${mu}m$ Agfa 8E75 photographic emulsion film using He-Ne laser. It is dependent on the chemical processing rather than materials themselves that high diffraction efficiency can obtained in silver halide emulsions. With potassium dichromate bleach and alcohol drying, overall efficiency of 71% (81% after allowing for reflection at the two surfaces) has been achieved at an exposure of 180${mu}J/cm^2.$ Dichromate cross-linkage and air void by rapid dehydration increase refractive index modulation depth. The grating is swollen, which is newly identified by Scanning Electronic Microscope(SEM) photography, and it causes on-Bragg at larger angle than the recording angle. It is pointed out that controlling the emulsion thickness has an important role as a potential source for high diffraction efficiency.
