  • Sediment transport around artificial habitat which is induced by the change ol flow due to installation of the structure plays a role not only as a defect function of subsidence and burial but also bottom-environment control function. This study examined the characteristics of local scouring and deposition with sediment sizes, current velocities and installation direction of artificial habitat in flow field. Resultant subsidence and burial processes are investigated and discussed with Reynolds number. Together with sediment number and dimensionless time elapse, prediction formulas are established by combining these relationships. Bottom control function as cultivating effects is discussed with installation direction, and applicability of countermeasures is compared and stone pavement method is recommended.

석탄회 종류에 따른 석탄회를 대량 사용한 콘크리트의 내구특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Durabilities of High Volume Coal Ash Concrete by the Kinds of Coal Ash)

  • Coal ash is a by-product of the combustion of pulverized coal, and much of this is dumped in landfills. The disposal of coal ash is one of the major issues for environmental problems. In this paper, the effects of the kinds and replacement ratio of coal ash on the durabilities of concrete mixtures are investigated. Fine aggregate was replaced with coal ash(fly ash and bottom ash) in five different ratios, of 0%, 10%, 20%, 35%, and 50% by volume. Test results indicated that the compressive strength increased with the increase in fly ash percentage. The loss of compressive strength of bottom ash concrete mixes after immersion in sulphuric acid solution was less than in the control mix(BA0). In addition, the carbonation depth of fly ash concrete mixes was lower than the control mix(FA0).

Diffraction of water waves by an array of vertical barriers and heterogeneous bottom

  • The interaction of head waves with an infinite row of identical, equally spaced, rectangular breakwaters is investigated in the presence of uneven bottom topography. Using linear water wave theory and matched eigenfunction expansion method, the boundary value problem is transformed into a system of linear algebraic equations which are numerically solved to know the velocity potentials completely. Utilizing this method, reflected and transmitted wave energy are computed for different physical parameters along with the wave field in the vicinity of breakwaters. It is observed that the wave field becomes more complicated when the incoming wavelength becomes smaller than the channel width. A critical ratio of the gap width to the channel width, corresponding to the inflection point of the transmitted energy variation, is identified for which 1/3 of the total energy is transmitted. Similarly, depending on the incident wavelength, there is a critical breakwater width for which a minimum energy is transmitted. Further, the accuracy of the computed results is verified by using the derived energy relation.

  • The crack of concrete induced by the heat of hydration is s serious problem, particularly in concrete structures such as bridge piers. thick walls, box type walls, mat-slab of nuclear reactor building, dams of foundations of high rise buildings, etc. As a result of the temperature rise and restriction condition of foundation, the thermal stress which way induce the cracks can occur. Therefore the various techniques of the thermal stress control in massive concrete have been widely used. One of them is prediction of the thermal stress, besides low-heat cement which mitigates the temperature rise, design change which consider steel bar reinforcement, operation control and so on. In this study, firstly it introduce the thermal cracks control technique by employing low-heat cement concrete, thermal stress analysis, Secondly it shows the application of the cracks control technique like the bottom of No.15,16 Underground LNG Tank in Inchon.

Reflectivity Control at Substrate / Photoresist Interface by Inorganic Bottom Anti-Reflection Coating for Nanometer-scaled Devices

  • More accurate CD (Critical Dimension) control is required for the nanometer-scaled devices. However, since the reflectivity between substrate and PR (Photoresist) becomes higher, the CD (Critical Dimension) swing curve was intensified. The higher reflectivity also causes PR notching due to the pattern of sub-layer. For this device requirement, it was optimized for the thickness, refractive index(n) and absorption coefficient(k) in the bottom anti-reflective coating(BARC; SiON) and photoresist with the minimum reflectivity. The computational simulated conditions, which were determined with the thickness of 33 nm, n of 1.89 and k of 0.369 as the optimum condition, were successfully applied to the experiments with no standing wave for the 0.13um-device. At this condition, the lowest reflectivity was 0.44%. This optimum condition for BARC SiON film was applied to the process for 0.13um-device. The optimum SiON film as BARC to PR and sub-layer could be formed with the accurate CD control and no standing waver for the nanometer-scaled semiconductor manufacturing process.

배추 밑동썩음병 발생과 방제 (Incidence and Control of Bottom Rot of Chinese Cabbage Caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn)

  • 우리나라의 미기록 병인 Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn에 의한 배추 밑동썩음병(Bottom rot)에 대한 남부지방파로재배 시의 발병소장과 방제방법을 검토하였다. 본 병의 발병은 정식 20여일 경과후, 배추의 생육중기부터 발병되기 시작하여 결구기에 증가하는 경향이고, 수확기의 발병주율은 평균 $52\%$ 정도였다. 그 피해는 추파로지재배보다 비닐하우스를 이용한 반촉성재배에서 심하였고, 초기에 심엽까지 감염된 이병주는 위축되어 생육이 극히 불량하여 결구가 되지 않았다. 병주에서 분리한 R. solani의 PDA배지상에서 균사 생육적온은 $20\~25^{\circ}C$였고, 균사융합군은 제II군 제1형으로 분류되었다. 배추, 무, 참깨 및 유채의 유묘에 접종했을 때 입고율이 매우 높았고 상치, 토마토, 오이에서는 입고율은 낮았으나 발아가 $2\~3$일 지연되었다. 방제약제는 발병초기부터 pencycron Wp.를 10일간 3회 처리한 것이 방제가가 $80\%$로 우수하였다.

3성분계 시멘트를 사용한 매스콘크리트의 시공사례 (An Application of the Mass Concrete Using Ternary Blended Cement)

  • The bottom slab of Inchon LNG in-ground #213 tank is designed as a massive structure witch has a large depth and section. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix design having good workability and low hydration heat for bottom slab concrete and to control the actual concrete quality in site. For this purpose, we select the optimum mix design used ternary blended cement(furnace slag cement+fly ash) and design factors. As test results of actual application, we have finish placing the bottom slab concrete of 23,180㎥ during 68hours with good success and obtain the good quality of fresh and hardened concrete including slump, air contents, no-segregation, compressive strength and low hydration heat in actual data. All test results are satisfied with our specifications for bottom slab concrete and we cut costs as the use of ternary blended cement and the reduction of placing hours.

소각장(燒却場)에서 발생되는 바닥재의 콘크리트용 잔골재(骨材)로서의 재활용(再活用) (Recycling of the Bottom Ash, Sourced from the Local MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) Incinerators, as a Fine Sand for Concrete)

  • 생활폐기물 소각장에서 발생되는 바닥재를 콘크리트 잔골재로 재활용하기 위해서, 기준모르타르에 모래 10%를 바닥재로 대체 하고 시멘트 10%를 포졸란성 규조토로 대체한 후, KS L 5105와 TCLP에 따라 시험하였다. 결과에 의하면, 바닥재의 유해중금속들은 TCLP 허용치 범위에 있었다. 포졸란성 규조토와 바닥재를 혼합한 모르타르 압축강도는 기준모르타르보다 높았으며 동시에 모든 유해중금속들은 TCLP 기준치 범위에 들어 있었다. 따라서 포졸란성 규조토를 안정재로 사용하게 되면 바닥재를 콘크리트 잔골재로 재활용할 수 있다.

Fabrication of a high magnetization YBCO bulk superconductor by a bottom-seeded melt growth method

  • A large grain YBCO bulk superconductor is fabricated by the top-seeded melt growth (TSMG) method. In the TSMG process, the seed crystal is placed on the top surface of a partially melted compact and therefore the seed crystal is frequently tilted during the melt process due to intrinsic unstable nature of Y211 particle +liquid phase mixture. In this work, we report the successful growth of single-domain YBCO bulk superconductors by a bottom-seeded melt growth (BSMG) method. Investigations on the trapped magnetic field and the microstructures of the synthesized specimens show that a bottom-seeded melt growth method has hardly affected on the crystal growth behavior, the microstructure development and the magnetic properties of the large grain YBCO bulk superconductors. The bottom-seeded melt growth method is clearly beneficial for the stable control of seed orientation through the melt process for the fabrication of a large grain YBCO bulk superconductor.

후판 선후단에서의 비정상변형부 폭제어기술 (Width Control of the Top and Bottom Ends of Steel Plate by Using Short-Stroke edging in Plate Mill)

  • Width variation of the top and bottom ends of steel at finishing rolling in a plate, has been investigated. It was found that width variation after finishing rolling is affected by edging, broadside rolling ratio, longitudinal rolling ratio, width shape after broadside rolling, temperature, width-to-thickness ratio, and so on. A neural network modelling of back propagation has been conducted on the width variation during rolling. Based on these prediction models, a width control system, by which the roll opening and closing of the hydraulic AWC edger can be adjusted during edge rolling in finishing rolling passes, has been developed. Compared to conventional width model, the neural network model is much accurate in a model. The width control system is applied to a newly built production mill.
