  • Stainless clad steels were made through hot rolling process. Backing plates employed in this study were HSLA steel and mild steel. The shear bond strength increased with an increase of the soaking temperature and time. It was also found that the shear bond strength increased with an increase of the reduction ratio. The threshold deformation was observed to be 20% and 10% respectively when the soaking conditions of 15 min. at 900.deg. C and 30 min. at 1000.deg. C were applied. Either the rolling or the transverse direction did not give any significant difference in the shear bond strength. Stainless steel-HSLA steel was superior to stainless steel-mild steel in the same range of magnitude. Because the above experimental results were in contrary to the existing mechanisms, the new model was proposed to describe the bonding mechanism and the void formation.

  • Nanosilver has intrinsic problem to adhesion on the surface of silica. To improve interfacial properties between nanosilver and silica substrate, a thin titanium film is introduced in this study. The titaniumcoated silica substrates are prepared by sputter technique. The commercial silver nanopaste with size around 3-7nm is used in this study. The results indicate thin layer of titanium can improve the bonding properties of nanosilver and expect to be used in fabrication of TFT display panel.

  • The film is prepared by electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition (ECRCVD) employing CH$_4$ and H$_2$ gases. It is deposited by the control of microwave plasma power, gas flow ratio, deposition pressure, and In-situ thermal treatment temperature. The structure of a-C:H (hydrogenated amorphous carbon) thin film is analysed by FT-IR spectroscopy. The fraction sp$^3$ versus sp$^2$ bonding is very important to clear up the surface and interrace of a-C:H film properties such as nano-scale friction behavior. The sp$^3$ versus sp$^2$ bonding of a-C:H thin film is dependent on the deposition conditions, therefore. nano-scale friction behavior is dependent on the deposition conditions.

  • Isostric heats of adsorption of amines on paraffin and polyethyleneglycol were measured by gas chromatography. Value with polyethyleneglycol were significantly higher than those with paraffin due to the N-H...O bonding. The contribution of C-H...O bonding to the isosoteric heats of adsorption was negligible. The additional heats of adsorption observed as the sample size increased also increased as the number of amino hydrogen atoms decreased. This tendency was more significant with polyethyleneglycol indicating that strong directing force of amino hydrogen of primary and secondary amines to the surface hinder lateral attractive interaction which could be favored with free orientation.

  • Noncrystalline films of diamond-like carbon (DLC) have been prepared by laser ablation technique at room temperature. A Q-switched Nd-YAG laser beam with wavelength of 1064 nm and pulse duration of 10 ns was focused onto a graphite target with power densities of about $10^9 W/\textrm{cm}^2$. The physical properties of the resulting films were analyzed with density, hardness, and resistivity measurements. The surface and bonding structure were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectroscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS).

  • Further to static test on aged RC bridge slabs strengthened with TYFO glassfibers, fatigue tests have been done on aged RC bridge slabs with and without glassfibers. It can be seen from the test that fatigue behaviors of aged RC bridge slabs stiffened with TYFO glassfibers have been by and large improved comparing with those of aged RC bridge slabs without TYFO, but fatigue failure modes have not been changed become of bonding failure between tensile reinforcements and concrete. It is in particular noted from the test that bonding failure between concrete surface and TYFO have been observed. Further tests are strongly necessiated to develop appropriate anchoring method for improving fatigue life of aged RC bridge slabs strengthened with TYFO glassfibers.

  • In this study, we try to find the root cause of water condensing failures in a headlamp using chemical and mechanical analysis. Through the surface inspection by OM, SEM and CT, it was found that water infiltrate into the headlamp through hotmelt adhesive debonding part caused by adhesion force degradation and poor quality. IR spectra shows that adhesion force degradation are characterized by increase of some functional group(1742, 1710, 1649, 1016). Through the ESPI measurement, it is turned out that bonding structural change by thermal expansion and degradation of adhesive can be the cause of void generation. So it is recommended that cooling passage and the bonding part should be redesigned to give a guarantee of less thermal stress and high adhesion quality.

  • To evaluate the micro-shear bond strength of current adhesive systems to cervical and mid-coronal enamel. Materials and Two commercially available resin adhesives were investigated; a self-etching primer system(Clearfil SE Bond, Kyraray) and a one-bottle adhesive system(Single Bond, 3M) intended for use with the total-etch wet-bonding technique were employed. Two regions of enamel, cervical and mid-coronal regions, were chosen from the buccal surface of extracted molars and were then bonded with each adhesive system and submitted to the micro-shear bond test.(중략)

  • The electronic structures and bonding configuration of histidine on Ge(100) have been investigated with various sample treatments using core-level photoemission spectroscopy (CLPES). Interpretation of the Ge 3d, C 1s, N 1s, and O 1s core level spectra being included in these systems revealed that both the imino nitrogen in the imidazole ring and the carboxyl group in the glycine moiety concurrently participate in the adsorption of histidine on a Ge(100) surface at 380 K. Moreover, we could clearly confirm that the imino nitrogen with a free lone pair in the imidazole group adsorbs on Ge(100) more strongly than the carboxyl group in the glycine moiety by examining systems annealed at various temperatures.
