A Comparative Study on the Energy Efficiency due to the Capacity of Gas Boiler (가스온수가열기의 용량에 따른 에너지효율성 비교 연구)

  • Depending on the living styles, the types of energy consumed by households have changed, and the consumption has increased rapidly. Consequently, those have led to environmental issues, such as exhaustion of energy and the climate changes. As one of solutions to such issues, energy efficiency can be approached. Therefore, in this study, the gas water heater(115S type Rheem products) that made in Germany and obtain hot water using gas as a heat source is selected. a $1.0m^3$ water tank with a 6kW electronic heater is installed and a water temperature and pressure is maintain constantly also thermometer is injected. Two of gas meter, one of pressure regulator and three of time measurement devices are installed in a combustion facility and fuelling facility with a magnet valve so it can observe and record combustion reactions. Quantity of hot water that heated by boiler is recorded using a quantity measurement tank, and have been heated by the boiler have been to record and measure the amount and utilized the data acquired through measurement of all factors that are applied to acquire hot water in order to calculate the use rate of final energy. In conclusion, this researcher drew the economic strong points of the hot water generated by gas.

A Study on the Control of the Exhaust CO from Gas Boiler (가스보일러 일산화탄소 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In this work, the chemical composition of the exhaust gas from domestic gas boiler has been analysed in the point of thermodynamics and CO sensor has been characterized. We proposed that the combustion condition can be estimated by the exhaust gas composition, i.e., the excess air ratio and combustion temperature can be calculated simply by the measurement of the $O_{2}$ fraction and $H_{2}/CO$ in the exhaust gas. By analyse the on site situation domestic boiler, the excess air ratio is about $55\~110\%$. Therefore, the CO may be produced in domestic gas boiler by luminous(yellow) flames rapidly lose heat by radiation, turbulent flames may be partially quenched by the action of steep velocity gradients, and flames burning very close to a cold wall may be partial1y quenched by heat conductivity to the wall. The output voltage of CO sensor is lineally depend on the CO and $H_{2}$concentration. And the exhaust CO from boiler can be reduced by closed loop control with CO sensor

  • In this paper, a boiler control system for thermal power plant is configured. The boiler control system for thermal power plant is largely composed of an ABC(Automatic Boiler Control) system and a MBC(Mill Burner Control) system. ABC system controls analog process values, so almost all analog control logic is dealt with in ABC system. On the other hand, MBC system relates to sequence control logic such as MFT logic, Furnace Purge, Safety related logic. Advanced control systems made from advanced countries deal with an ABC system and MBC system in a distributed control system. In this paper, we adopt a DCS as an ABC system and adopt a PLC system as a MBC system to configure a boiler control system for thermal power plant using domestic control system. Finally the validity of the configured boiler control system is shown via simulation using digital simulator for boiler system in thermal power plant.

  • Ocassionally, many chemical plants experienced unexpected shutdown and suffered serious economic loss caused by boiler accidents due to mis-operations during the start-up or shutdown. A strategy to prevent such accidents is proposed here by using the form of frame for the recognition of all needed conditions, i.e., the states of the boiler, hazardous or dangerous conditions, each level conditions, transition network and heuristic knowledge of human operators. The expert system based on this strategy is considered to be an available method to predict all of the hazardous conditions in boiler plants.

  • There are regularly planned overhaul periods in thermal power plants, which involve the maintenance of the boiler of the power plants. However, thermal power plants workers are always exposed to risk during overhaul periods owing to the narrow space and significant dust inside the boiler. Therefore, it is essential to develop a safety monitoring system that is suitable for operating in this type of environment. In this study, we developed not only a worker three-dimensional (3D)-location monitoring system that can monitor and record the entry/exit of workers, their 3D-location, and fall accidents but also a method to secure the working environment and operation efficiency. This system comprises of a worker tag, which was equipped with an inertial measurement unit, a barometric pressure sensor, and a Bluetooth low energy (BLE), and the tags were given to each worker. In addition, the location of workers inside the boiler was measured using a pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) method and BLE beacons. The location data of the workers tag were transmitted to the integrated database (DB) server through a gateway, and to the administrator monitoring system. The performance of the system was demonstrated inside an actual thermal power plant boiler, and the accuracy and reliability of the system were verified through a number of repeated tests. These results provide insights on designing a new system for monitoring enclosed spaces.

  • The catastrophic collapse of the in-boiler scaffolding system in the two thermal power plants occurred in March and April 2012. After site investigation and document review, it was found that the specialized scaffolding system was imported for overhaul & maintenance and that the system did not get the safety certification at the import. In this regard, this study developed & proposed an access platform and a support for the vertical tube section of the super heat as well as a variable-length platform for the horizontal tube section, satisfying the domestic certification standards. The access platform was developed to be easy to handle by the worker with a weight of about 0.069 kN, which could reduce the risk of falling accidents and workers' musculoskeletal diseases. For the variable-length platform, it is possible to cope with various changes in length between the horizontal tubes associated with the increase of rigidity in the overlapping and the elimination of the protrusion.

  • In the hazardous areas where explosive liquids, vapors and gases exist, electrical apparatus/equipment should have explosion-proof construction. The consuming of liquefied natural gas(LNG) has markedly increased in the industrial field, especially in aspect of some thermoprocessing equipment, boiler, dryer, furnace, annealer, kiln, regenerative thermal oxidizer(RTO) and so on. Because it has many merits, clean fuel, safety, no transportation/storage facility and so on. It is strongly recommend that the classification of hazards has to be decided to prevent and protect explosion which may occur in thermoprocessing equipment. In this paper, the operated thermoprocessing equipments in industrial area investigated and explosion risk assessment about LNG leakage from its facilities was performed through numerical calculation and computer simulation. Finally, we suggest the systemic/technical approach for safety assessments of thermoprocessing equipments consumed LNG fuel which are specially subjected to classification of hazardous area.

  • 미국 일리노이주의 발전설비 기술기준 체계의 근간을 이루는 것은 ''보일러 및 압력용기안전법(Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act)''(이하 ''법'')으로 일리노이주 의회의 표결이 의한 통과와 주지사의 재가에 의해 법률로 제정된다. State of Fire Marshal(이하 ''소방청'') Dvision of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety(이하 ''보일러 및 압력용기안전본부'') 그리고 Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Rules(보일러 및 압력용기법위원회)가 법의 제정, 대체 및 개정의 권한을 갖고 있다. 보일러 및 압력용기안전법은 1951년 제정되었으며, 법에서 규정한 예외사항을 제외한 보일러 및 압력용기의 건조$\cdot$설치$\cdot$수리$\cdot$유지$\cdot$교체$\cdot$사용$\cdot$운영에 대한 것을 규정하고 있다. 또한 ''보일러 및 압력용기법위원회''(이하 ''위원회'')를 설립하도록 하고 있다. 위원회는 법의 개정$\cdot$관리, 각종 수수료 책정 등 일리노이주의 보일러 및 압력용기에 대한 전반적인 사항을 관장한다. 보일러 및 압력용기안전법 2002년도 판의 내용을 기초로 하여 미국 일리노이주 발전설비 기술기준의 최근 체계에 대해 소개한다.

Development of Industrial Wood Pellet Boiler with High Safety (안전성이 높은 산업용 목재펠릿 보일러 개발)

  • Recently, due to the high rise of energy costs and environmental problem issues, much attention has been paid to wood pellets. Wood pellets are produced by compressing woody biomass into cylindrical form. Wood pellets are suitable for use at various scales in industrial furnaces for heat production to replace conventional fossil fuel energy sources since the use of wood pellet that is carbon neutral can alleviate global warming. This study presents the result of developing two industrial wood pellet boilers with high safety having capacities of 290kW and 440kW. Efficiency has been improved by using a rotating screw bar grate burner. Special attention has been paid to the improvement of the safety of the wood pellet boilers from backfire by adopting a triple protecting system composed of a rotary feeder, an air curtain, and a backfire protecting DC-fan.
