The purpose of this study was to identify the needs which were perceived by patients who were received spinal anesthesia for surgery. The subjects consisted of 50 adult patients who were admitted to 2 university hospitals and 2 general hospitals in Pusan city and 1 general hospital in Koje City for surgery under spinal anesthesia. Thirty eight percent of subjects received information about anesthesia before the operation. The instrument for this study was developed by the researcher based on literature and a pretest. Data were collected from December 10, 1999 to February 10, 2000 and were analyzed by content analysis. The results were that there were 533 meaningful statements in the needs of spinal anesthesia patients. The needs of spinal anesthesia patients had 51 items (preoperation (6), induction of anesthesia(5), intraoperation (27), postoperation(13)) and 6 categories (information, emotional welfare, physical welfare, post anesthetic management, control of physical environment, humane treatment). From the results, it can be concluded that: 1. In the pre-operation period, we have to explain anesthesia procedures, adequate position of anesthesia, duration before anesthesia wears off and sensation of paralysis. We have to supply emotional support to relieve anxiety because of anesthesia. 2. In induction of anesthesia, we have to support patient's position for anesthesia, and relieve anxiety so that patients participate in induction of anesthesia well. 3. In intra-operative period, we have to check the level of anesthesia, and keep up a comfortable position for operation and care for physical discomfort such as thirst, nausea, vomiting, dyspnea and to maintain body temperature of the patient. Since the patient is conscious, we have to communicate with the patient to relieve anxiety, maintain privacy, inform the patient of the process of the operation and encourage the surgeon to explain the outcome of the operation. The operating team needs the careful about what they say and to place the instrument well. We have to ventilate the room air and reduce noise. 4. In the post-operative period, we have to explain the purpose and duration of bed rest, complications of anesthesia and care for physical discomfort such as pain, dysuria, headache, backache. Also we have to maintain body temperature of the patient and maintain privacy.
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of the area of the base of support formed by the human body on the maximal voluntary isometric contraction of upper limb muscles. Methods: The study was conducted with 20 normal adults. To identify changes in the base of support, the maximal voluntary isometric contraction of the biceps muscle was measured in a standing position, a sitting position, and a lying position for each subject. The sizes of the base of support formed in the standing, sitting, and lying positions were set to 1, 2, and 3 respectively, based on the sizes, to analyze the correlations. The maximal voluntary isometric contraction of the biceps muscle was measured using surface electromyograms (EMGs) (Noraxon DTS, Germany). Results: The results showed negative correlations in which, as the size of the base of support increased, the maximal voluntary isometric contraction of the biceps muscle decreased. Conclusion: Changes in the base of support of the body affect the maximal voluntary isometric contraction of the upper limbs. Therefore, when resistance exercises are applied for muscle strengthening, the positions should be changed considering the changes in muscle activity according to those positions. In addition, when EMGs are used to measure the maximal voluntary isometric contraction, the measurements should be conducted in the same positions, considering muscle activity that changes according to the base of support and positions, for data quantification.

Objective: This research measured physiological and psychological effects of Vibroacoustic stimulation(VA) to scapular and sacrum of supine position on the mattress. Background: When vibroacoustic stimulation applies to human body, it has a positive influence on physiological and psychological effects by stimulating the organs, tissues and cells of whole body. Method: This experiment was conducted to 10 normal males in two conditions: no stimulation and vibroacoustic stimulation. No stimulation experiment was executed as a supine position for 30 minutes without any vibrational stimulus, while vibroacoustic stimulation was transmitted by the vibrational speaker, which uses 40Hz frequency. Subjects had a laser Doppler flowmeter probe in scapular, sacrum, and also had 8 channel electroencephalogram(EEG) measurement sensor in the scalp. Blood pressure and skin temperature were measured in two conditions with an underlying posture for 30 minutes. Additionally, blood flow rate and EEG were measured before and after for two minutes on two conditions. Results: According to the vibroacoustic stimulation, blood flow rate and skin temperature were increased, while blood pressure was decreased. When using vibroacoustic stimulation compared to no stimulation, blood flow rate went approximately two times higher, and skin temperature also higher 3~4 times. Furthermore, the relative alpha power of brain wave was significantly increased when we applied to vibroacoustic stimulation. Conclusion: This experiment tested the VAT embedded in mattress in two conditions. According to this experiment, VAT decreases blood pressure, improves not only a physiological effect on blood flow rate as well as skin temperature, but also psychological functions by increasing relative alpha power. Application: The results of the publishing trend analysis might help physiological and psychological effects of vibroacoustic stimulation.
Welding is an essential process in the automotive industry. Most welding processes that are used for auto body is spot welding. And $CO_2$ arc welding is used in a small part. In production field, $CO_2$ arc welding process is decreased and spot welding process is increased due to welding quality is poor and defects are occurred in $CO_2$ arc welding process frequently. But $CO_2$ arc welding process should be used at robot interference parts and closed parts where spot welding couldn't. $CO_2$ welding is divided into lap welding and plug arc spot welding. In case of plug arc spot welding, burn through and under fill were caused in various welding environment such as different thickness combinations of base metal, teaching point, over the two steps welding and inconsistent voltage/current. It makes some problem like poor quality of welding area and decrease the productivity. In this study, we will evaluate the effect of teaching point through the weld pool behavior and bead geometry in the arc spot welding at the plut hole. Welding position is horizontal position. And galvanized steel sheet of 2.0mm thickness that has plug hole of 6mm diameter was used. Teaching point was changed by center, top, bottom, left and right of the plug hole. At each condition, the phenomenon of weld pool behavior was confirmed using a high-speed camera. As the result, we find the center of plug hole is the most optimal teaching point. In the other teaching point, under fill was occurred at the plug hole. This phenomenon is caused by gravity and surface tension. For performance of arc spot welding at the plug hole, the teaching condition should be controlled at a center of plug hole.
The acute lumbar pain patients who were unavoidable to take MRI examination were made to take altered lateral recumbent position. they were also not able to control their painfulness and to be in supine position. In this study, it is supposed to increase success rate of the MRI examination through taking the altered lateral recumbent position in using spine and body matrix coil. This altered position made relaxing lumber pain and fatigue for the patients who suffered from sever lumber pain. In these reasons, it decreases the motion artifacts through correcting uncomfortable posture. As a result, qualitative analysis for the image quality was estimated to have average points of supine position A group(lateral recumbent position) of normal candidates and B group(lateral recumbent position) of the abnormal candidates who have sever pain at 4.64, 3.44, and 3.40, respectively. In conclusion, while qualitative analysis in the examination with supine position of the normal patients had significantly high points, the qualitative analysis in the examination with lateral recumbent position of the normal patients and abnormal patients who had sever lumbar pain was almost same. In addition, it was judged that radiologists' imagery interpretation had no other problems in the image evaluation of B group who had acute lumbar pain of abnormal patients. Hereupon, if this technique becomes generalized for the patients who suffer from supine position in the examination, it is supposed to be useful in medical field.
This study was aimed to investigate whether abdominal obesity is associated with non-insulin dependednt diabetes. The distribution of body fat patterns was observed in 181 female patients with diabetes, aged 33 to 83 years, living in the Taegu area, Korea. The following anthropometric measuremetns were made on all participants from October 1 to November 25, 1991 : weight, height ; waist and hip circumferences in standing position. The waist hip circumference ratio was used as an index of abdominal obesity. The results were as follows; 1) The mean fasting blood glucose of diabetic subjects was 145$\pm$50.3mg/dl and the mean duration of diabetes was 4.7$\pm$7.5 years. 2) Obese subjects above the ideal body weight body weight of 120% in the investigation are presently 52%, but 63% of subjects were reported to be obese in the past. The mean BMI of the subjects is 24.57$\pm$3.15 and the past mean BMI was 27.13$\pm$3.26. One year after reaching their highest body weight, 47% of the subjects developed diabetes. Two years after reaching their peak body weight, 74% of diabetic subjects developed diabetes. 3) Using the waist-hip circumference ratio, subjects beloing to the upper body obesity(WHR>0.84) were 65.5%. 4) The average daily energy intake did not differ between the obese and non-obese diabetic subjects, whether they were assessed with BMI or with RBW. 5) The average daily energy intake was higher in the upper body obesity subjects than in the lower body obesity subjects. 6) Diabetics withing the regular exercise group had lower fasting blood glucose levels than the non-regular exercise group. Exercise did not effect the RBW, BMI, and WHR. 7) The waist-to-hip circumference ratio correlated significantly in positive with waist-circumference, but did not correlated with hip-circumference. Therefore, WHR may depended on the increased accumulation of abdominal fat in female diabetics. In conclusion, these findings suggest that caloric intake is more associated with abdominal fat accumulation in diabetic women. Blood glucose concentration is independently effected by exercise, and exercise does not affect the WHR. Therefore, control of caloric intake and development of specific exercises to change the WHR seems important for controling diabetes in female subjects.
Digital technology introduced into the clothing and fashion industry is evolving to digital virtual fashions and consumer-centered mass-customized production systems. Today the application of such 3D virtual try-on systems is being expanded gradually in the clothing industry. This study purposed to make virtual avatars and virtual garments using OptiTex and V-stitcher virtual software and compared the appearance of the virtual garments put on the virtual avatars. For this, we created virtual avatars and virtual garments using body measurements obtained from jive subjects of top jive body shapes, respectively, using $[TC]^2$ body scanner. According to the results of comparing the outcomes of the two different virtual software systems, virtual avatar II of V-Stitcher tended to have a more round and lifted hip and the waist line at a higher position. In addition, the body curves and shapes of a virtual avatar affect the appearance of virtual garments. This study applied the same body measurements to virtual avatars and the same pattern to virtual garments, but when different kinds of virtual software were used, the virtual avatars and virtual garments showed different appearance and fit. This result may mean that when customers buy apparel products using different kinds of virtual try-on systems, their evaluation of appearance can vary depending on the virtual try-on system. Therefore, research needs to be made actively for the development and use of linkage programs that can reflect actual body measurements between virtual software systems and 3D body scanning systems.

An experimental study has been conducted to verify the startup characteristic of a Center Body Diffuser (CBD) for simulating a low pressure environment when at high altitudes. Vacuum chamber pressure and startup characteristics of the CBD were investigated according to various geometries of the center body structure by a cold gas flow test. The test results show that the startup pressure is lowest when the center body contraction angle is approximately $15^{\circ}$. The startup characteristic of the CBDs significantly improves when the diffuser inlet length ($L_d/D_d$) is decreasing and the divergence length ($L_s$) is increasing. Additionally, it is possible to simulate various high altitude, low pressure conditions for various rocket engines that have different nozzle expansion ratios by adjusting the center body's position inside the diffuser.
Purpose: In the whole body PET/CT scan, it is natural to lift the patient's arm for its quality improvement. However, when the lesion is located in head and neck, the arms should be located lower. This study was designed to compare the CT effective dose for each arm position applying Automatic Exposure Control (AEC). Materials and Methods: 45 patients who had $^{18}F$-FDG whole body PET/CT scan were studied with Biograph Truepoint 40 (SIEMENS, GERMANY), Biograph Sensation 16 (SIEMENS, GERMANY), Discovery STe 8 (GE healthcare, USA). The CT effective dose of 15 patients for each equipment was measured and comparatively analyzed in both arm-lifted position and lower-arm position. ImPACT v1.0 program was used as the method of measurement for CT effective dose. For the statistics analysis, Paired t-test which paired with SPSS 18.0 statistic program was applied. Results: In the case of arm-lifted, it was measured as $6.33{\pm}0.93mSv$ for Biograph Sensation 16, $8.01{\pm}1.34mSv$ for Biograph Truepoint 40, and $9.69{\pm}2.32mSv$ for Discovery STe 8. When arms are located lower position, it was measure as $6.97{\pm}0.76mSv$, $8.95{\pm}1.85mSv$, $13.07{\pm}2.87mSv$ for each. CT effective dose according to the arm position was 9.2% for Biograph Truepoint 40, 10.5% for Biograph Sensation 16, and 25.9% for Discovery Ste 8. The statistics analysis showed the meaningful difference ($p$<0.05). Conclusion: For the whole body PET/CT case, CT effective dose applying AEC was decreased the radiation exposure of the patients when the arm was lifted for 15.2% of average value. The patient who has no lesion in head and neck would decrease the artifact occurrence in objective part and lower the CT effective dose. Also, for the patient who had lesion in head and neck, the artifact in objective part can be lower by putting the arms down, the fact that CT effective dose increases should be concerned in its whole body PET/CT scan.

This paper presents a localization algorithm of the outdoor wheeled mobile robot using the sensor fusion method based on indirect Kalman filter(IKF). The wheeled mobile robot considered with in this paper is approximated to the two wheeled mobile robot. The mobile robot has the IMU and encoder sensor for inertia positioning system and GPS. Because the IMU and encoder sensor have bias errors, divergence of the estimated position from the measured data can occur when the mobile robot moves for a long time. Because of many natural and artificial conditions (i.e. atmosphere or GPS body itself), GPS has the maximum error about $10{\sim}20m$ when the mobile robot moves for a short time. Thus, the fusion algorithm of IMU, encoder sensor and GPS is needed. For the sensor fusion algorithm, we use IKF that estimates the errors of the position of the mobile robot. IKF proposed in this paper can be used other autonomous agents (i.e. UAV, UGV) because IKF in this paper use the position errors of the mobile robot. We can show the stability of the proposed sensor fusion method, using the fact that the covariance of error state of the IKF is bounded. To evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm, simulation and experimental results of IKF for the position(x-axis position, y-axis position, and yaw angle) of the outdoor wheeled mobile robot are presented.
