Offset Phase Rotation Shift Keying and Phase Silence Rotation Shift Keying Modulation for Medical In-Body WBAN Systems (의료용 In-Body WBAN 시스템을 위한 Offset Phase Rotation Shift Keying 및 Phase Silence Sotation Shift Keying 변조 방식)

  • In this paper, we proposed new modulation schemes, Offset Phase Rotation Shift Keying (OPRSK) and Phase Shift Rotation Shift Keying (PSRSK), for medical in-body wireless body area network (WBAN) systems. In IEEE, the WBAN system is assigned as 802.15. Task Group (TG) 6, and the related standardization is being progressed. Recently, in this Group, Phase Silence Shift Keying (PSSK), Phase Silence Position Keying (PSPK) and Phase Rotation Shift Keying (PRSK), which can obtain higher power efficiency, are proposed as new modulation schemes for low-power operation of WBAN system. However, they have a disadvantage for non-linear amplifier distortion. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed OPRSK and PSRSK, which are robust to non-linear amplification, by employing a phase offset in constellation and a power distribution in symbol duration, and verified that the proposed methods have good perfomance and stable operation through performance evaluation.

Comparison of Muscle Activity of Trunk Muscles According to the Weight Shift Distance in Quadruped Exercise (네발기기 운동시 체중이동 거리에 따른 몸통근육의 근활성도 비교)

  • Background: Exercise in the quadruped position is performed to improve body and shoulder stability. This study examined the muscle activity of the trunk muscles according to the distance of the weight shift when lifting one leg in the quadruped position. Methods: Ten healthy 20 to 40 years old males were tested as subjects. All subjects moved their body weight to 0, 5, and 10cm on the opposite side of the leg lifter while maintaining the quadruped position. The surface electrodes recorded the electromyography data during the one leg lifting. Results: As the weight shift distance was increased, there was a significant difference in muscle activity of both serratus anterior, multifidus and internal oblique muscles (p<.05). Left and right serratus anterior and right internal oblique were most activated when weight shift distance was 0cm (p<.05). Conclusion: Shoulder and lumbar stabilization exercises should be applied in the absence of a weight shift distance during quadruped exercise.

Roll Motion Analysis of a 3 D.O.F. Planar Car Model using Instantaneous Centers (순간중심을 이용한 평면 3 자유도 자동차 모델의 롤 운동 해석)

  • In this paper, a planar car model with 3 degrees of freedom was analyzed using the concept of the roll center. To avoid ambiguity, force components which require experimental data were excluded. Only kinematic approach was used to find the position and orientation of the vehicle body and the position of the roll center. The roll center was found by the pole with infinitesimal movement and Kennedy-Aronhold theorem. Centrodes, which are the loci of instantaneous centers of planar motion, were constructed with analyzed results to show characteristics of vehicle body motion. To verify the presented analysis method in this paper, the locus of the roll center and the motion of a 3 D.O.F. planar car model were compared with those of the 1 D.O.F. model.

  • Analytical method to analyze the tolerance effect on the vehicle ride comfort is suggested in this paper. Ride comfort is one of the most important performance indices which decide the vehicle design quality. In general, the ride comfort is affected by the variations of parameters of a vehicle model. Therefore, the effects of the parameters on the ride comfort need to be evaluated statistically based on the whole-body vibration of the vehicle. In this paper, weighted RMS values of the acceleration PSD of a seat position are used to define the ride comfort. The equations of motion and the sensitivity equations are derived based on a 5-DOF vehicle model. By employing the sensitivity information of the acceleration at the seat position, the tolerance effect on the vehicle ride comfort could be effectively analyzed.

  • This study proposes a methodology with which the optimal damper positions of the feeding system in a CD-ROM drive are determined to removal the harmful tilting vibration modes. For this purpose, vibration characteristics of the feeding system are identified by a theoretical modeling as well as vibration experiments. We perform the modal testings using the impact hammer and shaker; furthermore, we establish a vibration model due to the rigid-body motion. The analysis and experiments show that the feeding system has three rigid-body vibration modes in the low-frequency region and two of them come from the tilting modes. We show that the tilting modes can be removed by determining the damper positions.

  • This study aims to compare stress concentratior factors in a loaded elastic body of the infinite plate with pressure coefficients of a fluid in the potential flow. First in view of hydrodynamics, when a single elliptic cylinder in the form of a bluff body stands in the potential flow, the pressure distribution(doefficient, C$\_$p/around the elliptic cylicder which is changed according to the position(angular displacements)is theoretically analyzed and calulated; secondly, in view of theory of elasticity, when an eliptic hole which is made on a flat plate gets tension, the stress distribution(factor) around the elliptic hole which is changed according to the position(angular displacements )is theoretically(K$\_$t/) and experimentally (K$\_$e/) measured; and finally. The results are compard and examined.

  • This study investigates the influence of cane length on the weight distribution of the elderly in a standing position. Thirty participants were evaluated using two different cane lengths based on measurements of distal wrist crease to ground (WC cane), and distance of greater trochanter to ground (GT cane). A limloader was used to determine the weight distribution on the subject. It was found that 6.5% of body weight was supported on a GT cane and 7.7% of body weight supported on a WC cane in a standing position. Results suggests that more weight is distributed on a WC cane than a GT cane in the elderly.

  • Visual effects are important cues for providing occupant s with virtual reality in a vehicle simulator which imitates real driving. The viewpoint of an occupant is sensitively dependent upon the occupant´s posture, therefore, the total body motion must be considered in a graphic simulator. A real time simulation is required for the dynamic analysis of complex human body motion. This study attempts to apply a neural network to the motion analysis in various driving situations. A full car of medium-sized vehicles was selected and modeled, and then analyzed using ADAMS in such driving conditions as bump-pass and acceleration. A multibody system analysis software, MADYMO, was used in the motion analysis of an adult male dummy in the seated position.   • Multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) displacement measurement Is needed In many application fields: precision machine control, precision assembly, vibration analysis, and so on. This paper presents a new MDOF displacement measurement method using a laser diode (LD), two position-sensitive detectors (PSDs), and a conventional diffraction grating. It utilizes typical features of a diffraction grating to obtain the information of MDOF displacement. MDOF displacement is calculated from the independent coordinate values of the diffracted ray spots on the PSDs. Forward and inverse kinematic problems were solved to compute the MDOF displacement of a rigid body. Experimental results show maximum absolute errors of less than ${\pm}10$ micrometers in translation and ${\pm}30$ arcsecs in rotation.

An Analysis of 2D Positional Accuracy of Human Bodies Detection Using the Movement of Mono-UWB Radar

  • This paper considers the ability of counting and positioning multi-targets by using a mobile UWB radar device. After a background subtraction process, distinguishing between clutters and human body signals, the position of targets will be computed using weighted Gaussian mixture methods. While computer vision offers many advantages, it has limited performance in poor visibility conditions (e.g., at night, haze, fog or smoke). UWB radar can provide a complementary technology for detecting and tracking humans, particularly in poor visibility or through-wall conditions. As we know, for 2D measurement, one method is the use of at least two receiver antennas. Another method is the use of one mobile radar receiver. This paper tried to investigate the position detection of the stationary human body using the movement of one UWB radar module.
